On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

I want Karstah to focus on the corpse. A non-dwarven, untainted magic sword? Gimme!

Also the sword was made by the human students of the Old Ones or st least the descendants of the direct students of the Old Ones.

Hm. You know.

@soulcake

i dont think anyone actually asked this: if we give the Swords to Karstah will Snorri be able to study them himself later? If so would Snorri have to wait till Karstah is done with them (however long it takes given the swords are pretty absurd)?

I would think it not to be the case, given that that would be a pretty big 'have your cake and eat it too' choice.

Nothing is stopping you no, but Karstah would inevitably share what she found with you anyway so research would be greatly reduced or not necessary depending.

I can see the logic behind this but giving Karstah the sword is about Karstah's development more than it is the research tbh.

If that's the case then a quick vote change from me.

Pretty sure the fimir don't have that kind of favour.
Trapping Nurgle's favourite in an item would likely make him take notice.
No, but Ku'gath does have a grudge against the Dwarfs (oh the irony!) or at least, he will in the future which might be now in his personal timeline.

Karstah potentially developing a Rune and gaining expertise seem like raw upside to me, so let her have the Sword.. As for the Corpse, well, Snorri doesn't really need it; Karstah getting access to the materials seems perfect.

After some thinking about it, changed my vote to give sword to Karstah.

@soulcake, since we are going to see a more dumped down version of the next few updates, understandably of course, wouldn't want you to pull a Mt. Ungor. During the time in-between each city seige and boss fight, will we be able to go talk to Sven, to be able to help start a Rune trade with him, once the rest of the cities are are destroyed?

Nothings impossible but its exceedingly unlikely. Yall already got trades coming with ogra and brynna to worry about I believe. Plus other things.

Also something im crossposting from the Discord.

Id like some reader input here. As I said im gonna be comitting to smaller more frequent updates and realize that may involve shrinking or breaking up turn results. Id like to have input about how to do that, what you could live without and what you cant and stuff like that if at all possible. Thanks :^)

Personally, I think Char development and interaction is the msot important, and the result of our choices is secondary.

I honestly dont really care for indepth combat at all. I like the crafting. And Meaningful interactions with others. (like If its not our disciples/Master then I would prefer it have a point. Even if that point is to relax and enjoy a drink, after a hard time working)

To be honest. We haven't had a good combat scene together, since I think the siege. Dum and the snake either had us chasing something for someone else to kill, or had us meet a challenge, and then do the rest from another person's point of view. Even at the final battle, that still kept happening in the combat sequence.

So, yeah honestly, as much fun as it would be to see our badass selves keep turning things to ash, soul can pretty much skip it. If he feels it's appropriate, or it can be neatly shown away, like with our fight against the witch, then that's one less thing he needs to focus on.

If we start getting into actual turns, then unless it's something big, probably just a good idea to keep it small, word-wise, since that seems to be part of the fatigue and writers Block, that soul keeps feeling.

we can live without most of the update, just give us results and numbers that go up. Hee hee numbers go BRRRRRR :V

500% in favour of this.
Quests seem to have a problem where they feel the need to out do the previous chapter and there becomes a slowly growing chapter size and update rate slows.

Yet more #Rune-Ideas

It's a reference to the (in)famous Drill and Spiral memes from Gurren Lagann. As well as a number of songs and videos that reference spinning, the ancient og Wonder Woman live action TV series where she dons her costume by spinning, and the old martial arts concepts of "circle defeats line, line defeats circle". And the whole "spiral make arrow/bolt/bullet hit harder/more accurately".

Basically, all the references where spinning very fast makes cool and or awesome and or ridiculous things happen.

Hang on a bit while I go back through the runes and come up with some bullshit thematic soundbites now that I've had time to think and am not split between that and an omake that won't leave me alone:

<><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Weapon / Master Weapon; surrounds the rune with a slow-flowing current of magic, similar in behavior to air. When swung, the current speeds up and aids the strike. More runes increases the power - three runes produces a grinding screech as a miniature mana whirlwind adds great speed to the blow and bites into the target. / The effects of three runes are combined and amplified, as is typical of master runes. The mana warp-twist effect seems particularly injurious to creatures and constructs of the Aether.

Armor / Master Armor: same as the weapon, but the spin speeds up in reaction to incoming blows instead. / The spinning effect strengthens to the point where nearby enemies are constantly hindered and incoming blows are torn to shreds.

Banner / Master Banner: diffuses the effect, trading the raw power of the magic-spinning effect for a greater area to aid groups of allies. / This master rune starts directly interfering with luck and fate on a large scale, to the benefit of the Dawi and the detriment of their enemies.

Engineering / Master Engineering: same effect as weapon, but it applies to the ammunition. It is unknown why three runes seems to suddenly change the effect from raw damage enhancement to having an effect on luck - presumably the greater mass of the item and size of the rune has something to do with it. / Not only does the shot spin furiously, the spinning actively directs it to where it can deal the most damage. Bolts and boulders have been observed actively changing direction mid-flight in order to cause the greatest quantity of carnage.

Talismanic / Master Talismanic: This is weird shit. Nothing right now.

Structural: No idea. The spinning thing seems both more diffuse than the banner while being more potent, but shit got weird enough that Yorri stopped exploring it after two runes.
The idea is neat, but I think a lot of the effects youre describing are being done by other Runes. Its an aesthetic difference in my mind, but Idk if thats enough to count.
A HUNGER RUNE SET!

-Rune of Fourbears: So long as one wields a blade that holds this rune, gain strength and speed to cut true- magic withering, armor shearing, flesh parting.

Like me grandpapy used to say when facing those four chaos accursed bears: 'Cut Through!'

-Master Rune of Accretion: Any note worthy feats accomplished while wielding the weapon that bears this rune shall be bound into the weapon itself, an echo of the act bolstering the weapon upon similar future endeavours.

Slay one great wyrm, and you can slay them all.

-Rune of Hunger: Imparts vitality proportional to the level of conflict encountered. From keeping besieged defenders bearing the rune away from its namesake to bolstering that small circle of shieldwall stay just a little more sturdy in the face of what is likely certain annhilation.

-Rune of Praxis: Unknown hostile phenomenon encountered by the bearer of this rune becomes familiar to a degree. Depending on how close the current knowledge base of the bearer of this rune has towards the subject in question, it can let a Runelord ground what would have been a fatal casting of magic they were at the time unprepared/unknown for. On the other hand, a warrior wouldn't know how to counterspell that same casting, instead he would likely get an accurate read on where to dodge.

A rune of fairness, the first steps to make an uncaring universe care.

#Rune-Ideas
Fourbears: um.
Accretion: ooh thats a neat conceptual idea. Future Rune, also neatly squaring away some of that for later.
Hunger: future Rune.
Praxis: neato neato, future Rune.

Rune of Shattering: This rune was made for use with Grudge Throwers, to be used against unarmored and lightly armored foes. Upon impact, the stone shatters and flies apart with great speed and force, cutting down those too foolish or arrogant to equip themselves in proper armor.

So basically a rune to give a Grudge Thrower flak ammunition, mostly for dealing with Savage Orcs, Goblins, Beastmen, and if the War of Vengeance happens, elves, most of which don't wear particularly heavy armor. I don't know if a similar rune idea has come up before, so I apologize if someone already made something too similar.
