On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Not over 100. And Wutroth has an established value that's very high that goes even higher as Silver Wutroth. This is comparatively pedestrian.
Still why didnt Master Yorri claim the site already? I mean the Silver Wutroth he had no idea was that important from just a far away look. But did he just not consider this valuable enough to be worth the time coming back to lay a claim on?

I am assuming the fourth action is for the Master Rune of Adamant and maybe using it to make Adamntium easier than the way we now have. But technically we can make it now right? Just explosively? And gains from that?

whelp next turn get the obsiden to the hold, and work on the underway...hopefully we can get this new material into the hold, help against winters grasp.

also work on the map...so 1 action on the map, order the obsidian stone, rest into the underway?

I think the fourth action may be to create some Master Rune of the Void that pushes magic out of things, rather than the Master Rune of Adamant.

Interestingly, being able to control the flow of magic suggests that it might have some conceptual overlap with the Rune of Sorcery, but operating in a quite different way.

It's much more efficient to put four rather than three actions on the Underway so Productivity Like no Other triggers twice.

Three actions on tunnelling is pretty inefficient because you lose out on a productivity trigger, meaning you gotta spend one more action in the following turn than otherwise to finish the project. The tunnel should either get all four actions this turn (which, together with one apprentice action, sets up for completion by the end of turn 14 with no further input from Snorri required) or two (which would combine with a further two actions on turn 14 to finish the tunnel).

actually maybe it'll be better to use all our actions on yorri's places? it looks like there are a lot valuable stuff that could have knock on effects on our work to find

also before we post anything else
@soulcake THANK YOU! For providing us such frequent high quality and enjoyable updates! I think I can speak for all of us when I say we really appreciate it and appreciate you for the amount of time and work you put into this. The work is both amazing and funny! :)

They also take a lot of research though. Just two actions have already given us probably 6-8 actions of research. Well, if we just want to bring in products to gain prestige and help the economy then it's not as big a deal. There's also the argument that it's better to chew through all the exploration before researching the finds, so the likely most useful ones get done first.

The king calls for aid, and the apprentices shall answer.
Heee hee.

I'm also really glad this section talked about how this is a good test for them as journeymen needing to time manage and do projects on their own. And I'm glad to see the productivity through the update. Gives me hope ya know.

But you knew that already and had tailored your curriculum to meet her ability. The questions are harder, the learning more detailed and obscure, critique more vague and hints near nonexistent. You put her through her paces and fill her mind with as much as you think it can bear and still sometimes find it still hungers for more knowledge.

Each apprentice is different, their needs and quirks to be acknowledged and accounted for when teaching them.
Man, I really like that you went this way with describing education. My mom works in early education with littlest ones and its this. They are all different and grab onto things in entirely unique ways. Good to see that reinforced in stuff I'm reading.

Dolgi looks at her retreating back, only turning to face Fjolla when Snerra disappears behind a corner.

"...getting stuff handed to us sure is convenient," he says quietly.

"Aye," Fjolla grunts, still looking down at her banner.

"Course we can't tell her that," Dolgi continues.

"Aye."
HAH! They're learning. Learning the glorious feeling of having minions who we're teaching.

Muaahahahahahahahahhahaa. All is going to plan.

Explosion patterns mimic the past 50 or so tests before. Metal splatter from Runic destabilization bears no major resemblance to previous patterns, note for further testing to remove possibility of a fluke. You grunt at the sight of the molten metal pooling at the base of the pedestal. That'll be a pain to clean just like the last 80 or so times, you're sure of it.
Jesus. Snorri is literally going through every combination. That's absurd and wonderful.

You simply missed the right ingredient which often.
Missing word?

"We'll figure it out I'm sure," Dolgi says patting her on the back.

"Wont lie...need some troll jerky to go with this stone bread," Fjolla admits.

"I think I have some that Klorah made," Dolgi replies, digging around in his pockets for a while only to come up with nothing.

"Huh. Guess I ate it all," he says sheepishly.

"Where's Snerra? She usually has some handy," Fjolla says suddenly, eyes roving around the room searching for their younger compatriot
Oh my god its infecting them tooooo. They're starting to like troll.

Oh dear. :V
"Not that rockhead, I just didn't realize it's been a week is all," she grumbles at him angrily, "Didn't think that banner would take so long."

"Ah, I see," he says, nodding in understanding.
Ah she has It.

- you're an idiot.

If you can't draw it out, then push it out.
If you can't pull, push!

And yes, really kinda dumb there Snorri.

You hum to yourself, the unfinished Chant you've been preparing in parallel as you refined the Rune itself. Your eyes are open, your mind is present, but some part of you simply loses itself in your work.
Power flows
The chisel carves the grooves smoothly, cutting into the metal easily. Lines upon lines are carved by a hand controlled by an iron will.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

That was awesome.

This wasn't just a trip out to one of Yorri's odd places, you were also recording your activity and findings for the hold. Both Brokk and King Otrek wanted as detailed a map of the surrounding area as possible; every approach scouted, every pass taken into account and every potential daemon or beastie hidey hole marked. Thankfully you find none of the former and just a few of the latter.
Hey hey! Glad we're doing that and glad there's no daemons around. Hopes and prayers that persists into the next turn.

You turn back to glance at your apprentices as they carefully steer the ornery goats hauling the carts of supplies and bear meat while you walk ahead. Snorting at the sight of their bumbling you turn back and continue reading through Master Yorri's notes
Goat herding! Somebody wanted that and hurray!

Day 267, Year 44 of Journey
Oh boy, he's getting even weirder.

Picking more of these, even if we lose a good chunk from damage or time in the future, is good just for insight into Yorri's head.

- Rune Metal Pt. 4 unlocked. You've made the metal, the Adamant, but you can find a way to make it without as many explosions, you're sure of it!
Not quite what I exactly expected, I expected to have to research/work on infrastructure for it with a finished Rune but close enough. There's further refinement to be done. That can sit on a shelf for a while I think while we knock out the Underway next turn and Turn 14 imo.

We should still put actions in if only to avoid getting a follow up request from the hold to rune the entire thing. Better to put some work into now then later.

I'd be pretty excited to see what Snorri could manage in two fully dedicated turns on this. Perhaps even something legendary.

The lessons Snerra would learn from being part of that would also be interesting.

It's much more efficient to put four rather than three actions on the Underway so Productivity Like no Other triggers twice.

hmmm we have +2 for every action, so if we do 4 actions that's literally 8, since productivity hits, that's 10 points into it. Thus with our apprentices, that's another +2...so 12. Add in the +5 naturally for the hold to work with, that would be 17. 17+17=34/40 progress done next turn. So not only do we complete OUR part, but get most of the damn work done for the other holds in the north...

that's...fucking terrifying. that means next turn we only need to send our apprentices out to help the hold with 1 action to finish it, unless we want to go all out again for another 17 progress...which would be a 34+17=51/40, that adds up to 123% better then the original cost.

That means we MIGHT make the underway a bit larger and more defended then necessary...
DEFENSE-
IN-
DEPTH!!!

then we can go all in for our rune research and the map.

edited: wait i fucked up my math here, its actuall since we hit our productivity with 4 actions setting it off twice, that means we use 6 actions on it...that means a level of 12 progress...with 2 aprentice actions that 14, combined with the hold thats 19.

19+17=36....holy fuck...thats even better then before!

we do that again?
36+19=54 progress...
thats a boost of 126%, and that is HUGE in these kinds of terms. literal over a quarter of it gets a massive boost to the entire thing, meaning we will have allot more leeway in going off on adventures with our students and getting them to do simple stuff.

i wonder how Karak Drakka quest is going on about our bullshit (and how we could handle ALLOT of the problems so far? at least on the homefront!)

so this void rune we've found seems pretty awesome. Definitely want to know what it does when put on a weapon and mixed with an anti-daemon rune though.

Yeah, but going All In does mean that the Hold can finish the rest of the Underway on its own for Turn 14. Leaves us free for that turn to go back to research or whatever else catches our interest.
What I meant was that we finish the Underway on 14 if we spend 2 + 1 apprentice action or if we spend all 4 per turn.
We should still put actions in if only to avoid getting a follow up request from the hold to rune the entire thing. Better to put some work into now then later.
Sure but even with 2 actions put in, we are more then doubling progress as 2 actions becomes 3 which is 6 progress. Only difference between 2 and 4 actions invested each turn is the amount of overflow at the end.
