On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

If you read the invisitext, it's pretty much confirmed that a fragment of him is there.
The real question is will the fragment become a rune ingredient or an artifact of doom. The former would be nicer but the latter could be interesting, trying to find a way to contain it and keep it from any cultists.

Snorri really flexed his might in this update, since at no point did it seem like anything could even scratch him and I just love how he just smashed anything that got close. Can you just imagine how Chaos Dwarf quest must be reacting when they get an update describing how this single dwarf is just marching through their defenses like they are nothing?

I wouldn't be surprised if those metaphorical players were freaking out and thinking that they are fighting against one of the Ancestor gods or something.

Doubt Snorri would even consider using a fragment of Hashut for a Rune.

More likely the Order of the Guardians has something from Gazul to either seal away or destroy it.

I mean. We used the Heart of the Greedy One and plan on using the Brain of Kohlek. Not sure what the difference is beyond Hashut being even more of a shitter. I guess the fact that he's a genuine Daemon might cause an issue, possibly.

So. That description of Snorri's walk to the gates, and then his destruction of it... it was amazing. The character pieces leading up to it. The outside observers.

So. They are trying to resurrect Hashut. And (what looks to be like) a Daemon of Tzeentch seems to be interfering and profiteering. I wonder what price he will ask of the Prophet of Hashut? Is he going to ask for the Prophet's soul? Is he going to ask for a share of the Chaos Dwarfs, like Hashut has them in part? Is he going to ask for a few pieces of shattered Hashut, in order to help resurrect Hashut? Is she going to suggest that some Daemons be sacrificed in order to help make up the needed sacrifices for Hashut? Or... is the Prophet of Hashut about to pull him in and smack him one and tell him to get lost? Probably not, but.

Also, there were several invisi-text things in there. Around the time when the Daemons talks to the Prophet, right --
Hashut guide me, he whispers in his mind, the hour of your return is soon at hand, but I will not find myself bound like a slave! I swear myself once more, body and soul to you, grant me succour and let me see this wretch and his hubris brought low!
A whisper, unheard by all but His chosen, echoes from the fragment atop the altar.
Hogrimm begins to extend his hand, the last few traces of trepidation fading away with the sheen of resolve that fills his gaze, then gruffly takes the creature's hand.
-- here.

And at the meeting where Snorri is, here:

A dark tale that grows ever bleaker as the loyal Dawi were slowly falling to an ever-increasing number of Frurndar as Katalin calls them until the story takes a completely different turn.
Zharrgal and your armour pulse and flare with your changing mood.
Whereas the youth spoke with ever-growing moroseness and anger before, his tone changes when he begins recounting the arrival of Gazul.

And now for some corrections.
"Off with you then! I want those reports before the month's end and I expect you to keep up with your lessons in the meantime! Cookies are in the over if you're hungry!" she says as she shoos them out of her workshop.
oven
"Our order exists to slay the forces of Chaos as Gazul taught us. But the reason that our order was made, and the reason we exist separately from the greater Clergy, is the nature quarry we hunt.
the nature of the quarry

So does Warhammer demons work by Lovecraft rules? I can't remember. If they do, and the worse comes to pass, maybe we can permakill this shard of Hashut while he is newly summoned.

Since you're in a question-answering mood, @soulcake, at what point in the described series of events did our famous Nat 100/Nat 1 roll to screw Hashut take place? Was it early, before the rise of the dawi-zharr? Sometime during? Also, did it have concrete effects beyond giving some eastern Dawi hope?

At the very start, considering that there were Loyal Holds at all compared to canon.

The real question is will the fragment become a rune ingredient or an artifact of doom. The former would be nicer but the latter could be interesting, trying to find a way to contain it and keep it from any cultists.

Consider, a Purification Runed Axe fueled by Hashut's burning Soul.

The Dawi Zharr were always the inventive sort but they've been on the back foot for a while now. The lack of daemon bound weapons, at least amongst the ones Snorri has encountered, is encouraging at least. It means they either haven't figured it out yet or not well enough for mass production. The less said about their potential siege engines, the better.

-Zharrgal finds itself slammed against the table with a shout of anger, teal flames bursting into existence. When you lift the hammer the area you struck looks a great deal newer than the rest of the table.
I realize this was a very serious moment but all I could think of was Fix-It Felix repairing all that he touches.

I really hope the news ends up becoming widespread, sure they might not want to cause a panic but having everyone know the cult exists would likely work out better in the long run (especially as Hashut seems to have been smashed to pieces by Gazul, meaning the cultists have a lot less power) and help the dwarves hunt most of them down faster.

I really wish people like Soulcake were writing for GW instead of...'funny gobolin man' because that was amazing. I could see the line of dwarves chanting and slamming their shields, could practically feel the vibrations and the echoes of their call for vengeance.

Lines that should not be crossed have been left behind, Deeds have been done that cannot be borne...Let Treachery find its just deserts and enduring faith it's validation. The Dawi march to right the wrongs of Karak Dum! The Dawi march to end the perversion of the Bull's Cult! Khazuk Khazuk Khazuk ha!

Neither of those had a will nor were they divine. This thing is aware, malevolent and was already involved in corrupting runes.

I don't think we should expect to see weaponry they developed over thousands of years with a secure heartland with a bunch of spread out cultists activly being hunted down any time soon.

@soulcake What do the Griffen's know at this point? I'd imagine that nobody's particularly eager to tell them about this mess, but I'm not sure if its actually possible to completely stonewall the way the dwarves want to. After all, they're allies so you can't just be an elder grumbling about inquisitive beardlings and expect it to completely work.

Considering that the idea behind Runes is that they shape and order the winds, and Daemons/gods are embodiments of those same winds.

Turning enough pieces of him into a rune could potentially permanently trap him.
Or worst case scenario we'd get something similar to the Warpsword of Khaine.
(Damned soul, cursed invulnerable, unbeatable, berserker rage. Granted we already seem to have three out of five)

But if we ever fight chaos gods....

Which is a very amusing mental image indeed.

I mean, considering their leader is a survivor of Zhar-Naggrund and how the local space-time continuum's been poked in the eye, I don't think it's entirely out of the question for them to have cooked up something extra horrible in their time here. Nowhere near the level they had in canon WHBF but a one off prototype hellcannon or something isn't out of the question is all I'm saying.

The Griffons know there are some prisoners and that they're short. They were otherwise preoccupied eating and killing the enemy fliers and artillery.
@soulcake Did the 2nd loyalist scouting party not send someone to talk to our forces once all the walls were taken?
I can't answer that IC cuz you didn't even know they were there.

I still love how the hammer was meant to be a single target boss killer and it ended up having massive AOE on top of it. No idea how we're gonna top that for a boss spec weapon.

Not sure if it's going to be possible to purify that shard but if Hashut ended up getting broken into shards like other demons we've seen, it might end up being a t5 equivalent to a voidstone. Maybe letting us make a mega adamant smelter or a really good purification weapon if we ever finish that research.

Thyk turns to Ragni, the Rune Ward on his black glowing with uncharacteristic brightness.

unless this is 'black something'
Your path towards the enemy leader is no barred, the beastmen either making way for you or getting cut down by either your hammer or the weapons of the enemy's retainers.
no longer barred
"...Then they are lost." you mutter, a small part of broken at the idea of any dwarf voluntarily worshipping one of those...those things.
small part of you broken
the crippling of Thanes Gorlbag of Clan Gorltrommal and Thane Algrim Emeraldeyes of Clan Bronzebrow,
any reason Thane Gorlbag isn't bolded?

Hmmmm. Gonna be a race against time then, from the sound of it. Strong as the Throng is, I'd be loathe to set it against a Nascent God, or whatever Hashut is at this point. Not to mention all those good Dawi getting sacrificed to bring some filthy Dumi back into the material would be a damned shame.

any reason Thane Gorlbag isn't bolded?

Think it's because it's from the post before this one, and Thane Algrim's a new notch on the Beastlord's axe.
