On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

So, loyal survivors persist yet. But their time is running out since the traitors seem to be focusing a fair bit in eliminating the loyalists within the hold before turning their full might against the Throng.
It's implied that they're performing a ritual to resurrect Hashut here as well. Which may mean that they have a piece of him here.

By the Ancestors was that an update from Snorri breaking the gates and steamrolling everything inside by himself to finally discovering the fact that dwarves fell to Chaos! Boy I can't wait for the next update where we march into the depths to kill these traitors! And here they are trying to resurrect their "God" well we'll just have to stop them won't we.

Also loved the beginning where once we said we will take the gates all the other dwarfs just agreed with us!

That was pretty fucking epic. Surprised we didn't see any Beastmen aligned with Hashut. I would expect Minotaurs and Ghorgons to potentially have his Mark and blessings.

So. Rather than fall apart, the response to unexpected resistance was to work for his success. I honestly like it.

And yeah, as those entrusted with the sanctity of the soul, the Order of Watchers are just the ones to take to this task.

@soulcake Is the Grudge against Hashut Rank 5, or 6, or what? Does it have any mechanical effects?
6 just in terms of what exactly he did and continues to do. There aren't any mechanical effects like there aren't with the Grudge against chaos or the potential future Grudges against Goblins and Orcs. I updated the Grudge page a while back but this is basically Grudge level 6 now.
6 (Cold Silence) no peace, no mercy for those that offer none. A Grudge so ingrained that no amount of vengeance can truly sate it barring the absolute annihilation of the foe and anything related to them. If Grudges are a weight on a dwarf's back, this is effectively gravity. Something that will never truly disappear barring truly unlikely and mayhaps even impossible circumstances. Chaos, Skaven, URKS, Grobi.

Gammur blinks before nodding fiercely, understanding just how much of an investment this was for them. Especially now, just an hour before a solid third of the Throng marched off and when the enemy seemed to be redoubling their efforts to wipe them out with every passing day.
He smashes his hammer against the hard stone, the chips flying through the air and whizzing past the stoic face of his servant.

"How many did your forces kill?" Grumkul asks, voice dangerously quiet.

"A third of their number my Lord Prophet, a further sixth of their sum total captured and are being sent to the pits as we speak."
1/3 + 1/6 = 1/2. 1/2 * 1/3 = 1/6.

Oof. The Loyal Dawi of Karag Dum just lost a sixth of their total fighting strength (which, considering the Dwarfs and the general situation they're in, probably means somewhere close to that in population.) Granted, it looks like Grumkul doesn't consider it to be a good trade considering how far back they set the ritual, but still.

Must have thought it worth the price. Let's hope it was.

Also after we're done here and go home our reputation and whatnot is going to sky-rocket after all we've done here like seriously I can't wait to see what happens.

Unfortunately this looks like a situation where the enemy MUST be destroyed no matter the cost. Hopefully we can entrap and crush the ringleaders behind this attack without them escaping with loads of Dawi slaves. I almost hope Grumkul and his entire force fight to the death or attempt to finish the ritual under our withering attack. If they manage to retreat with their gains it could be serious trouble down the line. Hashtut's resurrection would also be extremely bad, hopefully Snorri won't lose too many friends this battle.

- Grudge: The Unnamed Beastlord: For the death of seventy-six Dwarfs, the Injury of a further one hundred and seven, the crippling of Thane Gorlbag of Clan Gorltrommal and for aiding the enemies of the Dwarfs in the destruction of Karag Dum, BAH! - Grudge: The Unnamed Beastlord: For the death of eighty-three Dwarfs, the Injury of a further one hundred and fifty-four, the crippling of Thanes Gorlbag of Clan Gorltrommal and Thane Algrim Emeraldeyes of Clan Bronzebrow, for aiding the enemies of the Dwarfs in the destruction of Karag Dum, BAH, and serving a prophet of the perfidious Hashut. The only payment is death. +15 Bonus to Rolls against Beastmen.
Total casualties taken during the assault on the gates: 7 dead, 47 injured, and another Thane crippled.

Good lord, this expedition started off epic and has only gotten more so every update. This one was absolutely incredible.

Since you're in a question-answering mood, @soulcake, at what point in the described series of events did our famous Nat 100/Nat 1 roll to screw Hashut take place? Was it early, before the rise of the dawi-zharr? Sometime during? Also, did it have concrete effects beyond giving some eastern Dawi hope?

That specific event happened at about the same time as the incursion everywhere else. I won't get too specific since I'm only answering IC, but stories of the Ancestor Runes, which had been silent and inert for decades by that point, finally reactivating in that darkest hour are common enough among the loyalists.

Extrapolation, based on your own interactions with Grungni and the story from Katalin imply that not everyone experienced the same thing.
