And people STILL voted to fight them.

This is what happens when you dsirespect Genghis Khan, this is the cost for your supposed "entertainment"

What happened to the gardeners, the civ builders, the diplomats that made us?

The pseudo-slavery? We ignored the issue until it boiled over.
The social stratification? We ignored the issue until it boiled over.
The not!Hun/Mongols? IGNORED THE ISSUE UNTIL IT BOILED OVER.

is it that cut and dry? No. But IC, this is what people will remember. Stop ignoring the issue cuz you end up dead. A festering wound, left to rot because it hasn't killed us yet.

Our choices were either to appease a conqueror with bribes (which almost never ends well for the briber), accept there demands, or try to get them to become our new king. Diplomacy doesn't work if the guy your talking to doesn't see you as an equal. We were going to collapse no matter what, we were just deciding how we were gonna do it. At least we took a stand before we finally succumbed.

Also, extremely disappointed that we had to deal with Not!Mongols before we got to fight Not!Rome. I was really looking forward to that one.

Were the Romans just dealt with off-screen?

You ignored their rise and fall, essentially. You have ceded all of Not!Europe to the Saffron Islanders and their successors, and while they bugged you a few times, your inward turn basically had you ignore them.

The option chosen was waiting for the Khan to come back after the vote insulted him. The actual war option could be better or worse, but waiting for him to come back was stupid.
AN just specifically said the actual war option would be worse
We would have died either Way
Tribute wasn't something the People were willing to pay, trying it would have resulted in a Civil war and Khan wasn't willing to Take any less
And, again, AN SPECIFICALLY SAID he would have probably fired warning shots instead of wrecking us, at which point we could have given him a bribe!

Probably one of the Barbarians we smashed as an afterthought.

We were the most urban, advanced, richest empire the world had ever known. Millions living in a empire just larger than Iran. With huge industrial compacity. We broke Ghenghis Khan. Make no mistake. Rome is an afterthought in comparison.

Rome would've came, and they would've died.
Nah
Rome is smart and not honour bound suicidal like nomads.
they would have gotten mauled but survived like khem.

Many feel frightened so we extend our hand and show we mean no harm.

Does this apply to our conquerd territories or are those lost unless we pick territorial unification @Academia Nut

A civilization of a thousand years was just destroyed, and knowledge of incalculable value was lost, the worst thing is because we're inevitably going loose traits from this a lot of what made the Ymaryn fun to play will also disappear, their uniqueness. We built up a civilization unlike any other something that would have been truly interesting to play all the way to the space age and now we're moving away from the uniqueness.
If you want to maintain some of Ymaryn's uniqueness, we could always try to push for a cultural flourishing. I want to keep Ymaryn as Ymaryn, too.

No, it would've worked pretty fine, as it worked with the actual mongols and the hundreds nomads in game. But no, people decided to meme and fight.

Still, I am pretty proud that we took a Khan and walked away, even if as cadaver.

Going to approval vote for the successors. Either one is fine by me. Either we get our spiritual values up and running again (Sacred Forest, the works) or we get our industrial base (Black Soil, the organization structures).

We death spiraled from a lack of administration, internal distrust and territory lose.
As long as we keep the core, which didn't get hit directly, most of our stuff will probably survive.

Only going full "try to make friends" would have resulted in an implosion. A partial tribute (the runner up option) was payable without penalty, and would have vastly reduced the resulting damage from the war.

No it would have resulted in a delayed Death
Khan would have tried to maul us and then ask us again in whether we would Pay Tribute
However since we always met demands for Tribute with total war, paying tribute would have also resulted in either a civil war or in the total war we just had

I'm going to give at least an hour from the last vote being posted before I lock, and then I have some chores to do so things might get a bit slower still after that.
Good Night then Pal
Suppose I will see the results in the morning then
Have Fun

That isn't how it'll be seen IC from what I'm getting off of AN.

The PEOPLE wanted to at least try, the nobles said fuck it and ignored him.

this'll be a story tainted by arrogance and chauvinism, not the pure last stand I wanted.

We should probably start discussing the different options... you know... their pluses and minuses?

Personally, I want a cultural revival so that we can have a stronger cultural foundation. The Ymaryn ideals are probably the most unique, interesting thing about this quest, so I want to preserve that.

The reason I want the Core is because all the industry and infrastructure is there. Also, our libraries too?

What do you guys think? I'm willing to change my vote, and I'm also stupidly gullible, so any thoughts?
the temples will preserve TREEEEEEESSSSS

I don't think appeasement is the kind of diplomacy you want us practicing...

Let's see what the tally looks like.
