God this is depressing, almost enough to make me give up. But not enough, not yet.

Thousands of years of history and effort maimed and almost crippled because some people decided they wanted to willfully ignore context clues and RP as the asshat nobility and not the actual people whose blood sweat and tears made this place. No empire lasts forever sure, but I wanted out death to be glorious, something that burns in history as our crowning moment, the supernova of our star.

This?

This was stupidty and warmongering.

/rant/sorta kinda s.

*sigh*

Land can be retaken, a spirit is far harder to fix. The nobility can eat a dick and die though. Never again, we need a legitimate way to veto stupidity like this from happening.

We werent the ones who burned the fields, sacked the towns, and killed the people. The blame solely rested upon the aggressors. The khan took a snub and used it as a cassus beli for genocide. Don't blame the voters for the actions of pissed of warmongers.

Oooof, the salt here and on discord is fucking sublime I am loving it.

I just find it amusing people are going "remember what the Mongols did to X". When we just stopped the Not!Mongols from doing it in this timeline.

I find it acceptable that we just stopped them and saved the civilizations around us and so we can now rebuild.

The king goes out and reconquers the rest of the former Empire. I do not care for the previous post at all, and this combination sounds like the most likely one to restore the centralised, urban, stratified and artisan Empire we had before. As much as it can be restored, anyways.

Recall what the Mongols did to everyone they ever met?

And people STILL voted to fight them.

This is what happens when you dsirespect Genghis Khan, this is the cost for your supposed "entertainment"

What happened to the gardeners, the civ builders, the diplomats that made us?

The pseudo-slavery? We ignored the issue until it boiled over.
The social stratification? We ignored the issue until it boiled over.
The not!Hun/Mongols? IGNORED THE ISSUE UNTIL IT BOILED OVER.

is it that cut and dry? No. But IC, this is what people will remember. Stop ignoring the issue cuz you end up dead. A festering wound, left to rot because it hasn't killed us yet.

We should probably start discussing the different options... you know... their pluses and minuses?

Personally, I want a cultural revival so that we can have a stronger cultural foundation. The Ymaryn ideals are probably the most unique, interesting thing about this quest, so I want to preserve that.

The reason I want the Core is because all the industry and infrastructure is there. Also, our libraries too?

What do you guys think? I'm willing to change my vote, and I'm also stupidly gullible, so any thoughts?

We mechanicus now? Long life the Cog!

how many crits would we have needed to win this?

You would have needed to pull a miracle out of your ass to not get wrecked by directly insulting the Great Khan during his event spawn.

That's bullshit and you should feel ashamed. The reason Raider Civilizations don't do infrastructure damage is not that they lack the ability (Humans are remarkably good at destroying stuff). It's that they're faced with a binary choice: grind inward for resources, in which case they don't have the time to properly destroy infrastructure on a large scale, or rely on said infrastructure themselves.

Look, I'm basing this on Temujin, who while this was a major exaggeration in terms of time, still absolutely devastated major urban population centers in China and Iran, via conscripted siege engineers in conquered territory allowing him to successfully siege cities that normally thought themselves immune to nomadic attack.

I'm not salty about what happened.
just that we were so close to it not happening.
just like 10 minutes more and we would had it.

Also, extremely disappointed that we had to deal with Not!Mongols before we got to fight Not!Rome. I was really looking forward to that one.

Were the Romans just dealt with off-screen?

A civilization of a thousand years was just destroyed, and knowledge of incalculable value was lost, the worst thing is because we're inevitably going loose traits from this a lot of what made the Ymaryn fun to play will also disappear, their uniqueness. We built up a civilization unlike any other something that would have been truly interesting to play all the way to the space age and now we're moving away from the uniqueness.

Ughh.
Fuck.
Even if they didn't had blackpowder we'd still have gotten wrecked because IT'S GENGHIS KHAN AND THE MONGOLS.
so that excuse doesn't work.

Probably one of the Barbarians we smashed as an afterthought.

We were the most urban, advanced, richest empire the world had ever known. Millions living in a empire just larger than Iran. With huge industrial compacity. We broke Ghenghis Khan. Make no mistake. Rome is an afterthought in comparison.

Rome would've came, and they would've died.
