we can still say no and try to mitigate it bro!!
I'm aware that we can, I just don't think, from our people's perspective, that we should.

We are a generous people with an abundance of food. They just destroyed our greatest foe. They deserve a gift.

It's the right* thing to do.

I think its about time we meet the spirit talkers, i would have prefered it under different circumstances though...

Our martial shojld also be improved. We have been largely ignoring it afterall same with religious/cultural actions. I would REALLY love to choose the settlement choices together, but that locks us out of other options

The emergence of the beginning of prostitution and gambling is not what I call hedonistic, considering that our people are very productive and work very hard. And it's certainly not at the level of Rome which had an entire Empire to feed the desires of it's elite classes, which was your original claim.
I'm claiming if could easily reach that point, when you roll a snowball down a mountainside it can create an avalanche. If we let it be the norm now, later it will get worse and worse, become institutionalised, by the time we reach Kingdom tier, we will be hedonists, or on the part to such.
And no other tribe or people we have encountered have prostitution or gambling yet so....

Government Type
Early Ancient Kingdom (Elective)
Central power is held by one man who delegates outwards, but there is still only so much authority that can be wielded. This sub-type currently has the position be non-hereditary and selected by other members of the administrative group
Pros: Access to additional infrastructure projects, bonus to collective action
Cons: Certain actions like new settlement development do not happen organically, but require direct intervention

New Gov Type.

that argument could easily be said for anything in society, money, war, luxury goods, food, etc.
We don't negotiate with terrorists
Especially if we haven't even quarrelled with them yet
what?

"Easily"

It will literally take centuries to thousands of years and continuous choices that leans towards that type of situation, and we will have and do have far bigger and pressing problems.

And again, banning never works.

Governments negotiates with terrorists/freedom fighters/revolutionaries, depending on the political framing of the event, all the time.

Of course the Spirit Talkers are actually another sovereign nation, so that comparison makes no sense.

actually now that I am thinking about it, what things that people have banned that are actually completely gone?

I'll accept a gift - just not tribute, especially regular gifts or tributes. We are not subordinate to them, and regular exchanges would imply to others and ourselves that we are.
I'm excited. We've got a still-functioning meritocracy.

Seriously, dude, no. Such a religion isn't progressive in any sense but the political.
Then why pay them to stop?

Then once again why pay them to stop?
I agree with this guy's points. If you reward a bully for their actions, or pay someone to not hurt you, you're just feeding them, literally, in our case.

Polio and cowpox

Immediatly changing my vote. This place is moving FAST!

Would someone please defend why Dedicate a Place to the Spirits needs to be the Main action, rather than a secondary one? We're going to be spending years on whatever we choose, and I'd rather it be something that builds us up rather than sends us on a different track.

I'd rather bribe the wizards, honestly.

If we don't give tribute and also choose to organize our settlement without an action to mitigate the strife, the people will rebel. Can everyone please remember that Organizing Settlement causes our people to be unhappy because of the Gardener Trait?
