On the whole Light Cavalry thing... presumably, the loser is going to give us some tribute (if we win), I wonder what the semi-nomads have in relative abundance we'd love to have, far more than material wealth or land. Hmmm, it's on the tip of my tongue.
That is actually something folks have speculated about. I'd love to grab some horses from them.

If you're talking about horses, we've got those, and there's a decent chance ours are better. It's actually training people to effectively ride said horses that is the problem.
But getting more herds, in general, is definitely going to allow us to field more cavalry. Obviously, we have horses already, and ours are probably better- but just having more horses would help a ton.

@Academia Nut

Given the immense dying going all around, is it possible to make a Monument after the war is over to remember all the fallen? Because the Blkood Rains commander and his men certainly deserve a memorial. They may have done a tactically stupid thing, but they did it for all the right reasons.

Maybe carve the names of the fallen into the Dam or the walls of the palace?

Only if the bottleneck is in horses, not riders. There's a chance that something like this could translate to a cost reduction if horses are rare enough to be a significant cost though. Would certainly be nice, but may be less of a benefit than we think.

Idk, nomad ponies need less food so if our lower classes get a bunch of them they'll be better able to take care of them than bred warhorses, allowing for easier access to a horse for riding training, allowing easier recruitment of cavalry.

If the Forhuch fracture entirely we can also potentially absorb their warriors-in fact I think that's likely to be a major benefit of our contacts with nomads in the future. I'd like to, say, grab a heroic diplomat from a Golden Age and try to get a few more nomad tribes as mercenaries/marches like Heaven's Hawk.

can't we have an Ymaryn version of the French Foreign Legion here? To get volunteers from Khemet, Freehills, the Storm Ymaryn and everyone around the Yllython Sea?

Not really, considering that the primary folks you would be recruiting from would be bandits and pirates of some sort. Everyone else is busy with their own fighting.

A monument is possible.

I only have one thing to say:

[X] [Target] Split focus between all three enemies

Bring it on.

Considering how overmartial we are and how we're going to do government reforms soon, I think it would be a good idea to go for whatever Stability-boosting option we get from signing a peace treaty with the Forhuch. It'll suck to not get reparations for what they've done but ensuring our own wellbeing is more important than ensuring that they get hurt.

Honestly I'm seeing more parallels to the Great War here - they have a leader with altogether too much riding on the pointless war he insisted on starting, and an acceptable resolution (in my eyes) would consist of his replacement by someone who tacitly acknowledges that the whole this was a terrible idea and they won't do it again.

Though sadly in this case, there ain't really someone on hand to replace Forthamin. I do see the parallels though.

Considering we got dudes last time... I say our chances are good.

What makes it even better is this would be archer cavalry. Something we do not have.

That was from straight up collapsing their civ and absorbing the leftovers. Tribute kind of requires a civ to still be standing though, so I assume that wasn't what we were discussing.

That being said, if we do collapse another nomad empire in its entirety, I would indeed expect a chance to absorb a bunch of Light Cav (maybe even more this time, since it's a repeat performance.) May require an even bigger stab hit though, as I imagine people are pretty pissed at the Forhuch for being dicks. Nomad sentiment is probably at an all time low. :V

Here's hoping for Iron Age Bismarck, then.

If we kill Forthamin he may well not have sons of his own of age to take control, sending the Forhuch into a full-blown succession crisis. They're still very nomad, and likely fracture easily. We could end up with the mountains becoming uninhabited yet again, forcing us to found our own March there to keep this from happening again.
