That seemed certainly no worse than the message he's responding to to me. Perhaps I'm biased but that kind of spiteful and provocative "I'm out of here, and you're all fucked!" leaving message seems a good bit beyond his honestly.
Well, ThrawnCA's post was also rude and somewhat graceless, but at least it wasn't a personal attack, and wasn't as directly insulting.

I mean...at the end of the day, Ymaryn are children of their age. We are ahistorical enough to strain SOD as is, going full pacifism despite it not being a thing in history, like, ever is a step too far.
But you do you. See ya.
"full" "pacifism"

The nomads and the burnt buried ruins of Xohyr beg to differ.

Anyway, if we have the problem of divergent subordinates, the Khemetri Empire is likely constantly on fire, and spending just as much time putting out housefires as it does doing vaguely empirish things, even if their RA is likely higher as a mechanic to force people into line. I don't think the Khemetri have the staying power for this war any more than we do; if this war starts dipping into colonial resources more than casually the whole house of cards is going to come down on their end.

That is where religion comes in they are united in their belief that the king is all powerful and by doing his will they can earn salvation if we break that image we break the Khemetri.

Reminder that AN had said before that the Hathatyn and Highlanders had better road networks than we do. Though that's not a difficult feat. :p

Hatriver should already have trails.
Now, Trails are still valuable, and we should make more of them, but they won't be particularly instrumental to the war effort there.

If you're going for Science Hero's Solution to War you might be better off with
-Main Study Metal
-Secondary Arsenal
-Secondary Arsenal x2/War Mission/Watchtowers/Blackbirds
I'm just doing everything I can to sneak more trails and temples into our actions whichever way I can. However the trails weren't for the Hatriver but on the off chance our mystic hero helps us skip to roads rather then having to max out our trails to 14. Plus they increase economic interdependence between us and our periphery states which is always a good thing and may help us send troops down south faster.

Kind of salty that if we went with divine right and had God Kings we could've burned RA instead of stability like the Khemetri can.

Yeah, but that kind of runs the risk of a single bad King being the death knell of our civilization.

Yeah I was thinking if we had that then we could've taken the max option on every refugee intake vote this giving us near infinite econ. However I do quite enjoy our oligarchic system even if it does get a bit too rowdy with the constant knives in the dark.

I'm out, btw. Don't want to watch the People get pounded into the dirt by the Khemetri and then everyone else who's been scared of them if they lose. Don't want to watch them become highly militarised and trigger a bloody civil war among a nation of millions if they win, which would eclipse even the fall of Xohyr.

Maybe I'll check back in a few weeks and see if you guys pulled a rabbit out of your hat and somehow resolved things peacefully. You'll get bonus Stability if you do.

Bye.
I mean, apart from the low opinion you appear to have of the Ymaryn and how easy it will be to turn them highly militarised, I fail to see how a war where thousands die on both sides could have been avoided. If not now, then it would have happened in the future because the Khemetri would have pushed again. Or one of our neighbours would have tried kicking our heads in. Or nomads would have happened.

But, you know, if you don't feel able to follow the quest anymore, that's fine. Thanks for telling us, I guess. If you do decide to come back, we'll be happy to welcome you back. After all, the fire is warm, there is always space at the fireside, and I cannot see that changing anytime soon.

Ha.

Hahaha.

Looks like I can't into quest.

Where are you guys getting all these information off out of numbers and descriptions and making a story?

I don't understand the math. The style of the storymaking is counterintuitive to me.

In short HOW? And where can I get some?

Our current stats are always on the second post of the first page; AN always edits that post after every update.

The costs of standard actions is indicated in every main turn update (like this one) in the "Important Projects" spoilerbox.

Yeah, ouch. The Khemri specced for massive expansion and then took the traits that let them do this, but it means they have to keep expanding or they implode.

Meanwhile, we're more built for a 'Build Tall' style civ, but we have a problem in that we haven't had a chance to build as tall as we'd like because of how much territory we've swallowed in the last little while. Basically, if they came at us at a better time, I wouldn't be worried. But as things are, they basically have to make this a war to the knife--because it is one to them, their society literally cannot survive the hit that losing King of the Hill would cause given their apparent level of overextension.

I suspect if they knew of the existence of Great Power Thunderdome, they probably wouldn't have expanded north as much as they did since they knew we were the Big Man on the Hill here unless they had their ears plugged.

I think, statistically speaking, we have a modest logistical advantage here, as they're at the end of a long trail of colonies, while we're basically trying to stop them from encroaching on our own frontier. Couple that with our great riverboating capacity, and I think we have an edge. I suspect that Khemri can throw some staggering numbers into the grinder though.

Normally a Great Power War gets resolved quickly while the new equilibrium is settled and the new Big Man is determined, but they don't have a choice, they have to win or they risk imploding (Given how if we conceded, we'd have lost ground, while if we don't concede, we don't gain any clay--I suspect that they're effectively the aggressor here, just that we're taking an aggressive posture out the gate). And while we can win, it'll likely leave us vulnerable to the Trelli trying something.

Yeah, this is going to get ugly, but we don't really have much of a choice. Their build is such that they have to keep pushing or they risk falling apart. They're basically a victim of their own advantages here, and once the fighting starts and they find out that "Oh shit the Ymaryn are both closer to home, and actually pretty fucking good at this war thing", they're going to be doubly fucked because they'll be vulnerable to a civil war, so it'll become a full out "Any price is acceptable to win this conflict because we explode otherwise"
On the contrary, I expect it to actually end relatively quickly. Not due to military defeat, but because given their position and described social model, NOT making swift progress is itself unacceptable and very costly.

Thanks to AN explaining the mechanics of giving way(Loser gives the new King enough Prestige to beat their Prestige by 10 points), conceding the Hill costing us 13 Prestige reveals their prestige level to be...54 I think, which would make a 13 point Prestige transfer top us by 10 points.

So, despite their actual military power, if they lose 5 Prestige over the war, they drop a slot, then start bleeding colonies.

Just focus on the arsenal and trail, study can be done next turn. Thanks to the vote, complexity of the shiny new early crossbow is the same if not more complex due to up-sizing.

So having government sponsored in-house artisans will make the production and equipping process more streamlined.
The crossbow was not going to be relevant for this fight regardless of production increases.
It's a long term investment, not a short term one, as the crossbow transition happened only with the move to mobilizing large segments of the urban poor as cheap missile troops, but we have that 90% agricultural power Yeomen making them a blip.

In the short term, crossbows are most valuable for our Blackbirds, where their greater penetration and range are effective for killing armored elites.
@veekie , there is a compelling reason for Main War Mission, I think: Symphony bonus.
Can't trigger it reliably, but a fair point.

So like this?

-Main War Mission
-Secondary Arsenal
-Secondary More Blackbirds

For ninjas with the Iron Age Antimaterial Sniper Rifle

OR

-Main War Mission
-Secondary Study Metal
-Secondary Arsenal

For Steel elite infantry.

OR

-Main War Mission
-Secondary Arsenal
-Secondary Arsenal x2

For Trust the Dice

Yeah I was thinking if we had that then we could've taken the max option on every refugee intake vote this giving us near infinite econ. However I do quite enjoy our oligarchic system even if it does get a bit too rowdy with the constant knives in the dark.

We're getting near infinite econ anyways right now :V
But the thing with impossibly profitable effects is they usually have a collapse point, under that particular model, probably forced culture change as vast numbers of refugees beyond our ability to assimilate force traits to be replaced with foreign traits.

So. How likely is it that the Khemetris collapse could trigger a general collapse in the Med?

I doubt there will be a Bronze Age collapse, but odds are that the Trelli will act like scavengers and use their new wealth and veteran mercenary armies to move in on former Khemetri colonies and vassals.

Of course if we lose, the same may happen to us.

Then again, we have the advantage that Trelli is always in easy striking distance to us. Downside is, Valleyhome isn't far off either.

Wait...does this mean there's an actual reason to send them a Salt Gift to Tea-Bag them?

@veekie , seeing as we have Enough Economy now and Gulvalley is close enough to the frontline to really need it, how about Main War + Support Subordinate (Gulvalley) + Study Metal (or Arsenal, or double down on support)?

I mean, even if Khemetri somehow do not do direct Econ damage at war (they probably did), propagated colony is relatively fresh and pribably light on resources to throw into anything.

Main Arsenal
Secondary Arsenal
Secondary Study Metal

A more long term science vote is this as it won't pay off this turn it would make next turn weapons research a lot stronger well still helping the war effort hopefully

It might trigger a general collapse, but I doubt it unless their core is also overstretched(and as fellow megaproject spammers, they can fix it as well as us, considering they do temple spam)
I thought the Passive Policy was trying to build an Arsenal.

Why should we do it when Shaman Kings skills are better used with Study and Blackbirds.
AN dropped a hint that we REALLY want one. Maybe more than one.
Arsenals are R&D centers for equipment, basically you take out the best artisans from all the guilds and put them into Royal workshops to make elite gear for your royal elites.

Which, with a Heroic Mystic King, is a prototyping lab to try out ideas and mix ideas where the guilds would prefer them to stay separate.
@veekie, what do you think of my plan to integrate the Stallion Tribes next turn?
Very ill timed.

Support Subordinate I don't believe to be useful. You're missing something.
Gulvalley only has 1-2 settlements right now, but they have the full econ and martial of Hatvalley Colony, which had the full Martial of Hatriver March.

They don't need Support. They're defending one town with a large province's military
