...We should propose to Asuma ongoing incentives to reveal clan secrets that would be of substantial help to Konoha at large.

That's an interesting take considering we have a secret that we desperately don't want other people to find out about that would be crazy useful at large. I personally respect the moxie it takes to suggest this but lack the courage to vote for it

Several actually, Asuma respected our decryption of Minato's notes as a clan secret. We also can't share the Pangolin stuff without pissing the pangolins off. We already gave away Jiraiya's notes, which tbf several Clans shared secrets in the same contest, namely the Akimichi

We are unlikely to be the only clan with such secrets; other clans may also have ones that they are holding close-chested, for lack of incentive to share them, even if they aren't, in themselves, all that useful to them.

He's a boneless spymaster being trained by Mari at the moment
Hm. One of the new people? We can have them train up their Examination stat, and have them tested every week by Gaku and Kei?

I'm inclined to say Snowflake, but I worry that will place her in too similar of a role as Kei (thus making her feel like a mere echo of Kei, rather than her own person).

Also, if she doesn't have her own character sheet, then her Examination stat is Kei's Examination stat.

I would switch these things, not only because of the mechanical benefits (Akane's Rapport AB is 1; her Empathy AB is 3) but because WoG says that Atomu's injuries makes him unrespectable in the eyes of the more traditional clans, which matters less to what I presume are civilians.

I think that's exactly the point though. It's a political statement
It also fits the narrative better. The "common" people (civilians, first generation ninja) on the Goketsu estate already go to Akane for not-Hazou-worthy troubleshooting. Akane already plays with KEI genin. And, judging by Ami's and Asuma's comments, it seems like damn near everyone in Leaf likes Akane, or finds it hard not to like Akane.

This may be a case where the mechanics of the quest don't mesh well with the narrative of the story.

Hey, y'all, got some swanky action plans here.

Anybody wanna vote? Or is there anything holding you back from voting, now that Sealing has been pushed to its own vote?

Words: tbd
  • Rest, recover, talk to Mari about Neck
    • No good options, and we couldn't just let them go. Orders are orders, and opsec is opsec.
      • We couldn't think of anything.
      • It's our job to think of things.
      • We came up with the clinic, the Food Bank, with Skyslicers, the Zoo Rush, and several other things.
        • Why couldn't we do that, then?
    • We've been repressing it since it happened.
      • Akane needed our support, and afterwards, we were still in the field. We were the mission leader; we couldn't dwell on the order we gave.
      • Then, Snowflake deserved a Goketsu-style mission that didn't involve child-murder, but she ended up absent for half of it because of course there was a murderous crystal intelligence commanding monsters and summoning golems.
  • Administrative Work [can be offscreened]
    • Sanity Check/Optimize with Mari
    • Mai (Mari-assisted?)
      • (Tone: CCnJ) This is a suggestion, not an order.
      • We know that you have complicated feelings regarding ninjutsu. We respect that.
      • We believe that learning a new element (or maybe THing) could give you a sense of power/control over ninjutsu.
        • If this isn't the case, you don't have to do this.
    • Assign Clan Roles
    • Mari
      • How's your spy network going?
      • If Atomu wanted to become a social spec, would you be willing to train him? We think he'd make a good Diplomat.
        • Atomu was one of the Cabin Leaders during the immediate aftermath of the Collapse and is likeable.
        • Also sends a solid Political Statement: Crippled ninja are not worthless.
          • Anyone who refuses to meet with Atomu isn't someone we'd want to ally/empower, anyway.
    • Clan Edict:
      • Goketu ninja are recommended/incentivized (but not ordered) to learn Medic jutsu/knowledge (to improve Goketsu Clinic and Leaf's Hospital)
        • Noburi trains them?
        • Exemptions...
          • Atomu
          • Mai (if learning Element/TH)
      • Kagome: Can we make Medical Knowledge part of the GED curriculum?
        • Optional, incentivized classes?
        • Intent: help Goketsu Civilians secure jobs at Hospital and improve quality of Goketsu Clinic.
    • Put Atomu in charge of Saltern Project.
    • Do the voted-in sealing

    • How was your Goketsu-style adventure? Sorry for the Cave's intelligence throwing plans out of wack.
      • Jokingly hand her a post-mission survey.
      • Thank her for her comforting shoulder-touch after the execution.
        • We know she's not great with physical touch, but the fact that she went out of her comfort zone to provide us comfort means a lot.
    • Now, you mentioned something about running an experiment once we were back in Leaf? We're happy to help, just tell us what to do.

Treasurer: Snowflake? Haru?
  • Responsible for handling the clan's lands and material assets.
  • The treasurer adds their Examination AB to the organisation's Wealth score.
Ignoring the obvious answers of "Make a Shadow Clone do it!"...adopt Fuyuki and have Kagome and/or Kei train them. Kagome's already teaching him, he's interested in maths stuff, and he's most certainly loyal enough that we can glue him to our flaming wagon.

Alternatively, we find some tax collectors or somesuch that crossed the wrong people for reasons we don't take offense to. Like Eiichi, only more morally upstanding.
I think that's exactly the point though. It's a political statement

They are going to eat Atomu alive. Over a political statement that most people in power will read as either "the Goketsu Clan is so weak that they have to send a crippled mudfoot to negotiate" or "the Goketsu Clan snubs us by sending this mudfoot cripple to speak as though he were our equal".

If you want to send a statement, sure: put him, or Reo, or one of our other ninja, in as Head Treasurer and train them up for it. Don't do it in a way that makes Atomu have to regularly interact with people who see his very presence as an insult/weakness, in a situation where he must convince said people to work with the Goketsu Clan. He will go missing-nin for fear of his sanity.
Which... wait, doesn't she have a chunk of XP left after finishing up Resolve? Let's use that.

Edit: Ami, herself, has said that Akane needs a higher deceit score. Let's raise Deceit and Rapport.
Don't...not hate this, but is this part of the FOOM path?

Vote for me to consult the whole plan on it :^)

I'll add some misc details later and format better when I'm back on my computer

[X] Action Plan: The Council Will Decide Your Fate
Word Count: 274
  • Optimize with Mari. Ask potential nominees beforehand if they're okay with being nominated, don't mention them if they aren't interested.
    • Assemble ALL available Goketsu, including three yet-unadopted genin, Kei, and Snowflake.
    • Have someone recap what Neck team missed.
    • Neck mission isn't finished yet. Hazou will be looking to assemble the Part 2 team in a few weeks. Details TBD.
    • It has been brought to Hazou's attention not all clan roles are currently filled. Hazou wants to give everyone a chance to voice their opinions on roles.
      • Clan Head, Spymaster, and Administrator are filled.
      • For General, Hazou nominates yuno. Anyone who's seen her fight probably agrees. If anyone else volunteers hear them out, then vote.
      • For Diplomat, many of you are a great choice. Hazou would like to nominate Atomu. He is an exemplary clansmen with a good attitude. However, he may experience bigotry in the role. If he doesn't want that, Hazou understands, but the Goketsu will support him against bigotry if he accepts. It will send a powerful message to other injured ninja. Hear out other volunteers and vote.
      • Take volunteers and votes for Ambassador. Hazou cares about them all, but on occasion his awareness for supremely obvious things is as dull as the rocks he shapes. It's very important to have someone checking on needs of their clansmen so they can bonk Hazou on the head if he's missing something.
      • Take volunteers and votes for Treasurer. Kei and Gaku have been handling this but it's really a full-time job with all the random income streams of the Goketsu. Possibilities include Kagome, Snowflake, Reo, and anyone who's good with numbers really.

..adopt Fuyuki and have Kagome and/or Kei train them.
Shit, that's a really good idea, I'll add it here in a moment!

I want to keep Akane as the Ambassador to maintain the narrative, but I'd be willing to hold off on assigning a Diplomat until we can get someone trained up. We've gone without for a while, we can go without for a little while longer.

In my action plans, I could change "Hey Mari, wanna train Atomu" to "Hey Mari, would Atomu be able to be an effective diplomat and handle the inherent stresses it would bring him, as a ninja who's been permanently injured?"

That is better, but I would include "Also make sure Atomu himself is willing to subject himself to such horrors that would make him want to sell his life to Orochimaru's Basement".
Akane is about to hit detour 1 after the resolve bump goes through, Rapport is a decent 20
Seems reasonable, though if we are going to negotiate things we should make sure XYZ is going to do this before we commit to training.

I will vote for your plan IFF you get rid of the Neck thing, it's weird that we're even having the conversation with everyone in the clan + the unadopted ninja. I had been under the impression that it was a Team Uplift mission/adventure/catastrophe.
Hmm sure OK. I wondered if any of them were interested in going but I can remove that.
