Question about the mechanics here, why didn't Hazou just choose to be Taken Out here rather than take the Consequence? The social combat didn't go for a second round so he has no incentive to prolong things.

A valid question. I suppose because he didn't know at the time he received the Consequence that he would not have the chance to go for a second round (because Miyuki used her victory to end the combat and go home). However, since the evidence suggests that he would have lost a second round too, he would have been better off doing as you suggest.

Kagome is gonna Kagome, It's like asking Hazo to never put his foot in his mouth. It's gonna happen. You can work with them to make it happen less often, you can work on better recognizing the situation and trying to deal with the consequences, but it's gonna happen anyways. There's no point being mad at him, I'm sure he feels bad, we can turn this into another lesson later. But it's not something we need to focus on right now.
More immediately, what we needed was our charismatic brother to help us out (given Mari's absence) and Yuno has effectively crippled him. She joined our family and managed to weaken us as a result, which is the exact opposite of what anybody wanted from that union. We can't deal with it overnight or all at once, but right now it is very clearly a problem.
Now tbh I don't know or care about exact stat allocations or mechanics or whatever, but narratively Noburi has always been the more charismatic brother. We need to be able to rely on him.
Oh I can see I'm not the first or only one to notice this, yes. It has been made rather glaringly obvious that this is something that needs to be addressed.

If that's what you want, vote to immediately divest ourselves of the position of Clan Head. Hazou has a job, one that places duties to the members of his clan on him. He just failed those duties in multiple ways. 'Go back to things go boom' is just compounding that. If you want Hazou to be Clan Head, he has to do the actual damn job of Clan Head, which includes being basically hospitable and being able to corral members of the clan. We need to stop shunting this shit off onto Mari, because by virtue of our position any and all intra-Clan drama is our drama.
Do... you have no idea of Yuno's mental issues? Divorce at this point will lead to her going homocidal, suicidal or both. And again, member of our clan that we as Clan Head have a duty to. I am getting really pissed at people who do not seem to understand what exactly Hazou's responsibilities are.

No, I think that's probably a real thing. A decent model of FP is mental exertion, so without them, you're mentally tired or distracted.
It seems very reasonable that someone who's focusing on social drama at home and not the mission is more likely to be caught off guard and die.

We don't live in a magical quasi-feudal world that runs on "might makes right" where "might" is a personal application of magical powers.
We have ideas and beliefs about what clanhead responsibilities are, but how accurately those map to Leaf isn't clear. There have been some things explained to us in character, especially some of the more tedious administrative aspects, and that there's abundant paperwork, but we're guessing at a lot of the more social applications.
Also, there may be substantial differences between Clan Head responsibilities in Mist and Leaf, given the differences between how autocratic they each were. This isn't necessarily relevant, but it can help inform Hazoupilot and explain some of his misteps.
Until Hazou either gets a class from Mari on the unspoken rules and expectations of Clan Heads, or reads a published and accepted book/treatise on the topic of the expectations of a Clan Head (and we're given the substance of either of those), we're guessing at the specifics of what being a Clan Head entails.

Perhaps you are guessing blind, but 'being a good host for visitors/envoys/ambassadors' and 'managing internal drama of the entity we are in charge of' seemed pretty fucking obvious from the get-go for me and I have no idea how you didn't see it. We are the leader of a socio-political entity/community/family. Being able to social better than any random genin seems like a prerequisite. This is leadership 101 and even being a socially blunt autistic hermit I can see the outlines of the role we have explicitly taken on, as it is pretty standard? It's basically the same as any feudal fantasy setting really.

this is one million percent on kei, who in her efforts to be the most self-absorbed character of the 3, decided to spring an unusual situation on kagome with no warning whatsoever
I don't see how this kind of criticism of Kagome, Noburi, and Yuno is in anyway helpful. This is just bitching without a proper solution.
I would suggest more concrete steps, like Hazo attending improv theater or something.

Kagome needs to have it explained with a comparison to his experience as to why what he did was rude and intrusive. Yuno will respond best to 'there are expectations of hospitality that you have failed because you aren't talking to Noburi' as it is least likely to make her homicidal and most likely to cause shifts. Pretending the problems aren't there is half the issue, and again. Hazou cannot micromanage what they do to address them, we can only say that they are issues, then provide an example of what to do, by admitting his own fuck-up and outright saying that he needs to change that. Again, I don't have the head for actual concrete training mechanics and actions. That's not me.

My opinion doesn't really matter since I only read this quest and don't participate but I don't want to read yet another update where Hazō has to assuage Kei's feelings while she alternates between self-loathing and blaming the players for her apparent inability to understand that she lives in a fascist wizard deathworld rather than an anarchist utopia
