When I said no splitting up, I meant with regards to splitting up across the elemental nations, not locally; locally is fine. I also strongly prefer remaining in Tea, as I don't think crossing the continent given the recent crackdown in missing nin is a very good idea at all.

@eaglejarl @Velorien Before we get too invested in the idea, what are your immediate thoughts about us researching modular sealing?

What terminology did you find obscure?

No, it isn't a joke; if it's in a chapter you can assume it's for real unless we explicitly mark it otherwise. It is, however, a parody of Scientology, which is a joke religion, so in that sense it's a bit of a meta-joke. (Well, technically Scientology is a scam religion, but close enough.)

Aside: Those quotes are pretty interesting. I especially like these two:

The two word term Hazou and Noburi were confused about, for one.
For a more general criticism, it seemed jarringly reliant on 'real world' references - this is the first we've heard about hydras in the EN, for one thing, even if it's probably more of a nod to the MCU - and on the whole, it didn't seem as simple or as trustworthy as a proper cult recruiter would make it out.

I'm saying it broke my immersion. And I think my favorite thing about this Quest has been how the world seems so selfcontained, best demonstrated in some of the early talks with civilians. They don't have a modern lifestyle, but they're obviously people. It's delightful.

One thing I'm curious about. How much is money worth to us?

We're skilled enough that we could hide on a mountain somewhere and live off the land forever. I don't want to do that, but we could.

It's just, what would we buy with money? All of our major goals seem to require punching people who we couldn't pay others to punch, inventing things that don't exist yet, or sitting in a corner while being inconspicuous.

Edit: I don't mean in the long term. Money makes it easy to find minions and perform logistics scale operations. I mean in the short term, the amount of money we make from individual missions.

This is why I support getting intel for Jiraiya. His goodwill is intangible and of great worth to us.

@Muer'ci I worry that your plan subjects the guy with the weirdest medical background (explanted chakra system) to a medical checkup by people who are probably on the lookout for shit like that. I realize Nobby is the one in need of more medical training but Hydra seems like too dangerous an option for obtaining such, except maybe by stealing their books.

[X] Action Plan: The Spiderbear's Snooping Agency
@Twofold Why not steal stuff from Cult Infiltration Take Two for the fort recon in Snooping Agency?

@eaglejarl will there be a planning extension since you'll be gone most of the weekend? I'd rather give our plans a little more time to mature, and for people to settle on one. It's somewhat unusual for the hivemind to be so thoroughly split.

e: Although now that I think of it it's probably a natural consequence of the voting system so never mind on that count.

@Muer'ci, @Twofold: Could you add a note to short circuit the update if Jiraya or one of his agents pops in, so we can vote on what we say to them
I'm reasonably certain QMs will stop the update if J turns up, and I'd like to at least try to avoid cluttering the plan.

what would we buy with money?
Paper, and other sealing supplies. D cent clothes, for when we don't want Mari's crafts. Kunai and the like, if we can't find someone to loot them from.

Original plan was to send Hazou for the check up, but according to feedback I got sending in a guy with a sharingan knock off was worse.
As it is, Nobby has med skills to have some idea of what's going on, and Mari to cover for him. Besides, I don't think scary things happen on first check up. If I ran a mad science enterprise I'd make the first few visits unthreatening, to lull victims into a false sense of security.

E: I'm also pretty sure that Wakahisa "chakra in water" thing is better known to public than "Kurosawa are more than good taijutsu guys". Plus Nobby's diplomacy might be able to get something out of fellow medic. Maybe.

No, I'm afraid not. I'm going to have some time over the weekend to work on it; I'd prefer not to spend all day on Monday and get it out late in the evening again. That is stressful for me and cuts into your voting time.

@Twofold Re traveling to HS, I still think we're better off cutting through Fire to Noodles then traveling to HS by water (walking or boat)
The little Fire bit between Noodles and Tea is not Fire proper, so I don't think it's that closely guarded, the bottle neck north is better suited for heavy patrols (as mentioned earlier) and while we're going through Water country waters, as long as we stay away from islands we should be fine. Patrolling water is trickier than land, and we have Noburi who allows us to WW for longer.

Ton of chakra and better TM than last time, and I'm more willing to murder Mist patrols than any other. Hey, dead Mist nin might make a nice consolation gift to J.

I do marginally prefer running across Fire to going round the long way across multiple borders.

I'm not sure why we're so eager to get out of Tea so quickly, honestly. We literally just learned that missing nin are being cracked down on and we decide to travel across the elemental nations? We also spent nearly a week getting a research station set up, and we're going to abandon it and do no research for the duration of our trip at minimum, and potentially longer depending on what the situation at our destination is like.

Or we return to find squatters in our research station :D
I mean, I'm not eager to leave Tea. But if we're leaving we should be efficient about it. And I guess we should vote not to tarry once we're done with our mission, so we can return and do research. Bc no matter which training plan wins, there will be no sealing research on the move. Noburi might manage his tho.

Not really sure if that's true. For monitoring water borders, you could actually employ civilians in the shoreline as spotters since they could cover a pretty wide area just with eyesight. Besides I have a feeling that the waters between Mist and Fire would be heavily guarded, they are not exactly allies.

Since so few people have dropped in about the travel route, I'm going to keep it as is and have us just run through Fire. What could go wrong? Additions in orange.

[X] Action Plan: Operation Soaked Spiderbear!

The last infiltration mission didn't go as planned, so it's time for Mari to teach our genin how to do one properly. If that involves lazing around in hot mineral baths while sampling cooled drinks and contemplating the tragedy that is a shinobi life...then so be it!

Goals:
  1. Don't reveal our identities
  2. Accept the Hot Springs job
  3. Travel to Hot Springs without being detected
  4. Gather preliminary information about the target resort

Methods:
  1. Make contact with the entity offering the job and haggle for a good price
    1. Let Nobby head the negotiation with Hazou as support, Mari is there to save the day if something goes really wrong
      • Get as much information on the target as possible
      • Make sure they pay our operating costs and give us an advance
    2. Remain henged while negotiating
    3. If feasible, have rest of the team short distance away, ready for combat in case of TREACHERY!
  2. Break our camp and sneak our way across Fire to Hotsprings
    • Make sure it's impossible to tell what was done in our lab, use explosives for the walls if necessary
    • The hard spots will be the border crossings and the choke point between Tea/Noodle peninsula. Be extra careful in those parts and trust our speed.
  3. Before heading to our target resort, stop in some Hotsprings town and gather information about the target resort
    1. Enter the town as two separate groups under henge
    2. The information we are interested in:
      • Anything to do with our target
      • What is it know for?
      • How big is it?
      • How's the security?
      • What kind of customers do they usually get?
      • Where do they buy their food etc. Who makes the deliveries?
      • Any interesting rumors?
      • Also gather information about Hotsprings in general and especially their ninjas
    3. Take this as an opportunity to acclimatize Kagome to interacting with the public, Mari can work out the details of that
  4. Take a moment to collate our gathered information and start planning how to accomplish our mission

Contingecies:
  1. Set a rendezvous point in case something goes wrong and we become separated.

I don't mind us doing the Hot Springs job, but can it wait?

We have a sealing lab and projects to do in it.

We have a plot-hook at our old fort to check out.

We have a plot hook at O. Roch Hubbard's place to check out.

Once we've done the plot-hooks in Tea and finished another sealing project (probably macerators) we can take the Hot Springs job, but right now we have things to do closer at hand, and the plan that involves making a bee-line for Hot Springs doesn't give us any more time for research.

Guh, things have kept me from posting, from work to a power outage. Time to place my votes to the plans I want to happen.

Leave it up to Mari if we're not going to discuss it. I don't like that solution, but since no one seems interested in discussing our path very much, it seems to be the best solution.

Good points. Though...I'm simply voting for the active plan that neither pokes at the Orochicult nor pokes at the squatters. If there's another interesting plan that has neither of those yet still stays in Tea, I'd be all for it.

[X] Action Plan: The Spiderbear's Snooping Agency

Extremely unhappy with how everyone seems to be quite keen to get Nobby killed.

Or us killed while we move through the elemental nations while they're prioritizing hunting missing nins, particularly larger groups of them...like us.

Why not check out old fort? I can understand being wary of Orochurch, but squatters had like 5 dice. Why not check them out?

I wonder if people would be more inclined to check out the cult if I drop the active investigation and stick to visiting places/talking to people w/o dropping henge?

Sure we get less info like that, but still more than "there was this weird snake church idk man"
