[x] Action Plan: The Trick is to Pair the Problems Off and Make Them Solve Each Other
Word count: TBD
  • Ask Noburi and Kei to run Ami's Crusader idea by their Clans' Bosses.
  • Meet with Snowflake.
    • Thoughts:
      • While Kei isn't attracted to men, that doesn't mean Snowflake isn't.
      • Some time ago, Snowflake asked for your opinion on her appearance, while wearing a ribbon signalling her unmarried status, and proceeded to blush upon your saying she's cute.
      • Put this way, the subtext and the implications seems obvious, yet you missed them.
      • Resolve to avoid such oversights. Keeping the "outside view" of any situation in mind might help: it wasn't obvious in-context because one thing led to another, but it'd have been clear to any hypothetical external observer.
      • Not the best time to discuss her apparent crush, though.
    • What's her standing with Mari? Does her view of the situation somehow differ from Kei's?
      • What would be an appropriate resolution of this conflict? For her? For Kei, in her estimation?
  • Meet with Ami.
    • If available, bring her the Summons' responses to her Crusader proposal, to iterate on.
    • Any idea who might be responsible for the Scarf Guy?
    • So, you'd been advised to delegate more. Except you can't, because half the stuff on your plate is Dragons-related, which only you have the skills and the logistical means to accomplish, while the other half is ensuring there aren't emotional catastrophes in progress, which, again, only you seem to never have.
      • How does she control for the emotional realities of human beings? How do her organizations not collapse without micromanagement?
    • Medium favour: Improve Mari's social life, towards a state that'd be considered healthy by Akane's standards.
      • Perhaps by ensuring she has true friends outside the Gouketsu.
  • Background:
    • Start working on decrypting the Karasu letters.
      • In retrospect, Ami gifting it to you could be seen as Mori-style courtship. Troublesome.
    • Schedule a meeting with Sasuke. He'd offered advice on running a Leaf clan.
    • Arrange widespread (but covert) search for jutsu that temporarily increase mental fortitude (Resolve).
      • Query Kumokogo, Cannai, the Toads and the Pangolins (by proxy).
      • Ask Kei to search the Leaf Library, ask Yuno about (non-secret) Isan jutsu.

Cannai being firm about this is actually really good for the Gōketsu. Now we might be able to apply a little bit of pressure on Asuma to allow this concession.
We can also bargain down a little with it. Strong Gōketsu allies like the ISC could be fine as well, so if Asuma isn't okay with the Gōketsu getting the scroll or if we need to hand it over for other political reasons he could just give it to them.

This is a suspiciously easy solution to the majority of the food problem. raises eyebrow suspiciously and grumbles about how the QMs are infested with lupchanzen
I read it as showing just how massive the 7th path really is. In order for there to be so many bison, there must also be a huge number of dogs to keep the population in check. And the dogs aren't clustered close together in cities or anything, they're all spread out in packs. Dog territory is HUGE. And the rest of the 7th path is probably also huge.

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with this.
This was supposed to signal that I'd like for Hazou-pilot to handle it however he sees fit. I suppose I could just remove "or don't".
This small favour is from Shikamaru to Ami, now passed on to you. It can only be cashed in with Shikamaru.
Hm, but can't it still be exchanged with her for— ah, of course, it can only be exchanged for other tokens, it can't be used to make whoever you're giving it to do you favours. Nevermind, misunderstood.

I feel like making the Hazō-pilot make potentially important decisions in cases where it has no more information than you do goes against the spirit of the quest.
from a simulation perspective i can see an argument that if hazou has high social skills, hazou pilot come up with something better then the hivemind. But it does remove the feeling of our successes were due to our hivemind actions, so i can see your point as well.

But if people are against invading the base now we can always go after the otter, kraken or possibly the bear scroll. Does anyone have strong preferences?

Fair enough. I don't have a specific preference beyond making Hazou aware of the situation, however.

Rest of the hivemind, what do you want to do with this?

Kraken.

I have a strong preference for going after a scroll we can get without leaving evidence that will get us kicked out of Leaf. :p

In this case, how about Bear? We may be able to get a lead on it from Cannai, and I could see influence from the bears being good for Kagome.

I'd consider giving it to Akane, but she's used up all her good will with us by making us alienate Haru, Gaku, and basically every civilian on the estate.

It's a training facility. That doesn't scream lots of jounin. In fact rock ideally has fewer jounin since we sent Hidan their way. We send in three summoners who have chakra refill after they summon their team plus a jounin and yeah I think we can take that.

We don't really know what that facility is, for all we know it's made for for their elite or for a clan because of their bloodline/abilities.

It's a Rock training center, and possibly a research facility.

If it's a research facility then it would be even worse, whatever they might be researching could be dangerous. Like a chakra golem, or someting else esoteric. Or we end up fighting a bunch of enemy sealmaster.

And neither Hazou or Noburi have any summons much stronger than a chunnin.

We could try to ask some of the former contracted summons what Hagino Bunzō was doing before he died, what enemies he had and what abilities he and his clan(?) had. That might tell us if the scroll is still around, ended up somwhere else or why Rock isn't using it.

Additionally we can try to figure out whats up with the Hornet and Hare scroll, if we want to search for one bordering the dogs. The Capybara scroll is also still an option, Noburi can talk with the Toads about it and:

The Minami have joined under pressure from their Boss, but only on condition that there be no trade with the Turtles. The condition was granted, at least for now.

The Capybara might be interested to join and could be convinced to change their summoner. If it's in Rice Asuma might also be more willing to allow us to take hostile actions.

We should send Haru to Bear! An expedition! Finally, we have a D-class employee, a ninja too! We can frame it to him as a mercy! Redemption by near-certain death, instead of miserable inglorious toil! In a week he'll be happy accept such a mission.

Yes? That's a good idea. Right?
  • start working on yakuza's family compensation
  • ask Asuma what kind of jutsu could be traded.
  • Already delegated.
  • Presumably already known IC.
you know we can directly order mary to do it, whit the added benefit of not owning a favour to the crazy foreign agent that as to deny any plausible involvement whit yuno in order to not screw us over isan.
Yuno hates Mari and had to be ordered not to attack her. Mari is probably not very fond of Yuno either at the moment. I don't think that's a good idea.

1) suicidal missions are more or less a theme in this quest, so i approve or not be in the suicidal end of things for once.
2) nobury pretty much likes Mari and if there is someone who can train him in how to properly please his wife is her.
there is no need for her to be directly involved whit yuno at all, whit the caveat of ordering nobury to not reveal where the advice is coming from.

Otter > Kraken. We don't know anything about Bear but it would probably be above both given it's relative closeness to the Great Seal, unless it's literally in the middle of Kumo.

bear is more accessible in terms of both actually having a lead and having a good excuse why the summoner clan cannot share the shinies but Kraken will be more or less valuable for mobility depending on their relationship whit the sharks and their access to the surface.
porcupine was taken from us, sadly.

Yeah that was my bad I actually meant the otters not the porcupine scroll

So, couldn't we lobby Asuma to grant the Bear scroll to a party that is friendly to us? I.e. a member of Ino-Shika-Cho, Kei, KEI, Sarutobi, or even Uchiha.

Like, the Akamichi would be a perfect fit for instance. And we are on the one hand quite friendly with them, but on the other could use an additional tie to them. They also voted against us (or abstained) during the Concubine law debacle, so they could be passed as a compromise candidate.

Otter was always my first choice as well because it seemed like the safest option while also being decently viable, but with the time constraints of the dragonwar I think Kraken's taken the lead in my preference ordering, given that it shouldn't take as long to resolve the mission.

Plus if we're giving the next one to Kagome so he can help with the Dragonwar it's better this way because then we can give the Otters to Akane next round.
