I added the sanity check, but I really don't think we're going to be able to turn the people who just tried to murder us, and whom "we" just got kicked out of their homes and families, into deniable assets for Leaf.
They don't have to know their handler works for Leaf, though. Just play the Yujin card, but without the Jiraiya reveal.

...

I'll suggest it. I don't think it'll work, given that henge is gone and our S-rankers/jonin are publicly known, but I'll suggest it.
TBF I'm not sure it'll work either, but I imagine that getting a pair of powerful agents on our side that could double as a counterforce for an evil!Takahashi arc is well worth the attempt. It's not like we can't have a capture team shadowing them, either.

I was about to write up another question and felt a bit spammy so I'm just going to relegate my questions here:

@eaglejarl @Velorien

1: Can we vote in training plans or should we wait until next cycle?
2: Who, if anyone, has been practicing the Akimichi Chakra Enhancement Technique? Based on a prior conversation I had with faflec, I am under the impression the only one mentioned explicitly in-story as practicing it is Noburi. Are the QMs tracking anyone else attempting to take up this stunt?
3: Should a pair of Skywalkers be removed from everyone's inventories? I'm not sure how long they were used for, but I assumed we would've went through at least one pair.

"Shiina," Takahashi-sensei said softly but clearly, "I give you permission to look him in the eye."

Without thinking, Isshin glanced away, at Shiina, and from his expression Kei could tell it was the deathblow.

And with that, Takahashi-sensei owned the Aida. He owned the Murasaki. He was, if not allied with the Yoshida, then certainly on the same page. That was already a majority in the ruling council he had selected. And of the remainder, the Inoue were broken, the Azai were directionless, and the Kannagi were in an even worse position than before, with Yuno convicted of murdering the village leader.

Can we please ask Isan's sealmaster clan for help on the Great Seal before we leave, after getting Asuma's permission of course? And maybe the snaky snakes, and they might have advice asking Oro for help too.

@Shrooms...

Possible Projects to add to the list of Ongoing Projects?

  • Propulsion Seals? Hazou mentioned them to Jiraiya in 118 and he seemed to like them.
  • Ninja Wire and FSBs to turn the wire into a protective net. Discussed with Jiraiya in 120, to which he says that it would only be feasible over critical infrastructure and buildings, but that it was a fantastic idea overall. Perhaps we should offer it to Asuma (if it hasn't already been done)?
  • "Auntie" the Librarian mentioned showing Kagome how to make illuminating ink. Possibly used to make artistic (but otherwise useless) fake seals (drawn in illuminating ink that hasn't had the chakra-infusing ritual done to it, as a double-measure of "just in case") across the Goketsu Compound? Leveraged with Kagome to be a red herring, distracting spies and invaders from the real security seals.
  • In chapter 132, Hazou mentions the idea to Noburi that he cast medical jutsu/ninjutsu through mist (such as Water Whip from inside a cloud, or using medical ninjutsu to slice enemy tendons from unguarded angles). Noburi seemed giddy at the idea and Hazou offered to help experiment (to make up for leaking stuff to the now-dead Minami). I'm not sure if it was followed up on, but Noburi thought it was possible and liked the idea.
  • In Chapter 133, Kei mentions that there's a town in Wind Country that hires mercenaries to clear the surrounding 30 miles of every chakra beasts, and that the town does this every six months. Kei then says that the town's economic productivity has increased 12fold across the 5 years that they've been doing this, and that the Nara had already begun designs to institute the same thing for Leaf. Given the Collapse, BotG, Shikaku's Death, and a million other things that've happened in the intervening time, maybe we should poke Kei and ask about it?

Is this different from Rocket Boots?

That seems reasonable

I would bet anyone who knows what a seal is knows ink has to be black, but that's just my assumption.

I was also wondering if Noburi ever took Hazou up on his offer to do a seal project for him? I couldn't remember

I feel like we've been wanting to do this for forever even separate from the economic benefits, and I would like to mention a chakra-clearing mission to Noburi (it's in my plan this cycle and probably my plan next cycle)

[x] Action Plan: Piercing the Veil
  1. Sanity check with Mari/Keiko.
  2. Isan Team:
    1. Track Aida Rin and Mochiaki, and arrange for an ANBU capture team. Provide assistance if sensible. Do not take undue risk.
    2. Alternative possibility: use a "disguised as non leaf" operative to turn them into deniable assets for leaf.
  3. Hazou and Kagome:
    1. Find as much information as you can about rifts and dimensionalism. Consult with sealmasters. Read Jiraiya's notes, the Leaf Private Library, and anything else Asuma is willing to let Hazou access.
    2. Purchase copies of any seals that might behave at all differently at the rift (diagnostic seals if they have them, but just in general anything that might behave differently).
    3. Once Mari is back to manage the clan in Hazou's absence, and if Asuma gives the green light, Hazou and Kagome go on a field trip to the site of the afterlife rift to examine it -- both for furthering their understanding of dimensional sealing in preperation for the Great Seal, and for evaluating the site's suitability for assisting in necromancy. If Kagome thinks that we would need better tools to get meaningful information from this expedition, and those tools are within the pair's ability to research, then do so.
      1. Before leaving, use Iron Nerve to create a detailed diagram of the Great Seal to leave with the Leaf Sealmasters.

I would suggest following Asuma orders on Aida and Mochiaki: report the situation and see what he says, he'll probably order something along the lines of "Let the ANBU professional take care of it", but the point is to show we're following the chain of command.

[x] Action Plan: Piercing the Veil
  1. Sanity check with Mari/Keiko.
  2. Isan Team:
    1. Hazou reports to Asuma. What does he want us to do with the banished ninja? Suggestions:

- Everyone emotionally compromised and dislikes each other
- Mari either became further insane or more sane than everyone else
- Banished from Isan
- Just installed a new dictator essentially
- Made several assurances to Isan clans we may not be able to deliver on

Yep, sounds like a typical win for us alright
Almost all ninja villages we've seen have dictators. But Isan's new dictator is just a first among equals master politician with Clan loyalties to him not necessarily outliving him. The previous dictator was a theocrat that would have created a dynasty of religious oppression.

By the way, how are we going to deal with the promises we made to the Orochimaru fanclub?

Added bringing Haru as a bodyguard.

[X] Welcome Home, Here's Some Lists
Word Count: 248
  • After Isan team has rested, but before legendary party: GOKETSU-ONLY MEETING
    • Great job, all, genuinely.
      • Show sympathy for Yuno's banishment. We know that feel.
      • There's some latent hurt feelings between group. We'll work through it, give each other space for now.
    • Run Postmortem
      • How can we improve? Hazou will be better informed before committing to risks.
    • Also, the apocalypse
      • Hand out DRAGONWAR reports.
        • What do Noburi and Keiko think of Ami's Crusader idea?
      • Arachnid Scroll seems to be a bust, unless someone disagrees...?
        • Discuss other Scroll options. Otter or Kraken seem the most promising to get Kagome to 7th Path the quickest.
          • Though, that might still be too slow to affect the DRAGONWAR. If so, Hazou prefers any mission to retrieve a Scroll would be for Akane next.
            • Thoughts?
    • Famine is partially or mostly our fault. What can we do?
      • Hazou did have an idea:
        • Noburi leads ambitious mission: Hunt every chakra beast within hundreds of miles.
          • Downed beasts can be drained to recharge Summoners/ninja to down more beasts.
          • Noburi has more experience fighting beasts than most Leaf nin, and the charisma to lead a team.
          • Storage scrolls can transport bodies from Noburi to Hazou over 7th path to feed Leaf. Envoys will be needed in 7th path.
            • Don't neglect administration prep, briefing Summons, etc. if idea's accepted.
    • Hazou promised to outfit estate ninja with proper gear and jutsu. Who can oversee this? Haru and Atomu, perhaps?
    • Lastly, here's some training regimens why are you groaning
I strongly want to advocate for the inclusion of a section like this
Isan Team:
  1. Hazou reports to Asuma. What does he want us to do with the banished ninja? Suggestions:
  2. Track Aida Rin and Mochiaki, and arrange for an ANBU capture team. Provide assistance if sensible. Do not take undue risk.

Just leaving the two Isan exiles to be snapped up by Cloud is crazy IMO. I realize people are tired of dealing with Isan and want to go home. But this is a loose end that we can't just leave dangling. Remember the civilian informant we just abandoned after the Sunset Racer? That informant got Minami killed (probably). I think this an equivalent loose end we're leaving to bite us in the ass later. I strongly advocate for dealing with this right now.
