Friendly reminder to work up and vote for an Omake Plan. I'm getting ready to write the second part of this, and while I'm willing to murder Hazou, I'd rather write him being awesome.

[X] Omake plan: Flex on everyone

Hazō has decided it's time to step onto the stage as a badass essie and show the world that team uplift is the most powerful team
  • Declarations.
    • We have sit up an embassy with the krakens there is both a dog and a toad at the embassy
    • We have a 7th path chakra farm sit up
    • Hazō has left multiple sealing load outs on the 7th path
  • Coordinations
    • Meet up with Akane and Haru at a safe house
    • Once there have Akane meet with Noburi on the 7th path to get the kraken scroll
    • Have Hazō sign the kraken scroll
      • After negotiating a deal with Octennō to become the kraken summoner negotiate to contract as many summons as possible
      • Offer very good but not outrageous terms for contracts
    • Meet up with Akane at the embassy
  • The rescue
    • Using 7th path Fedex transfer enough chakra water so akane and Hazō can summon everyone and make as many Hazō Shadow Clones as possible.
      • Make sure Everyone is full on chakra, fully buffed and equipped with a seal load out
    • Head to the alleyway
    • Have Akane coordinate with Noburi so we know when he will return
      • Have Akane produce as many SC as possible in the time before Noburi returns
    • Have a SC in position to substitute with Noburi
      • When the substitution happens have a set of STARS trigger a full lethal load out
    • If anyone is left after the STAR trigger send in our army of summons and SC.

Is the goal lethal or nonlethal takedown, in the aftermath of the STARS trigger?

In @Paperclipped 's inner quest, we have the situation specified here, which is compiled as follows:

  • Akane is the Dog Summoner, Noburi is the Toad Summoner
  • Hazō, Noburi, Akane, and Haru are in Lightning to steal the Kraken scroll.
  • Hazō and Noburi were spotted while retrieving it. Noburi was injured and fled to the 7th Path
  • Hazō broke contact with his pursuers, although they've caught up again
  • Haru and Akane are a mile or two away and may or may not know what's going on
  • Dogs and Toads have an embassy and Noburi is currently in that embassy, so Akane can go to the 7th Path and speak directly with Noburi
  • When Noburi returns to the Human Path it will be to the alley he left from
  • The alley is probably guarded, so we'll need to remove the guards
  • Hazō is on the second floor of a 2-story inn
  • The inn is at least moderately full of people, but those people are fleeing from ninja coming in on the ground floor
  • The inn is inside the boundaries of a city at the far north of Lightning Country
  • There is at least one enemy ninja, possibly more. There were 3+ a few minutes ago but we don't have eyes on them
  • Of the 3 known enemy ninja that we've engaged on this mission:
    • One is demonstrably jounin-level and has Water and Earth elements, having done two separate powerful attacks.
    • One is probably a jounin-level kenjutsu user, if they're not wearing the mask for nothing.
    • One is a Lightning element taijutsu user, with a technique called "Lightning Aura" and is named Touma Kado. This is almost certainly "Lightning Lad", the kid that Hazō crushed in the fifth round of the Chūnin Exams.
  • Touma has almost certainly recognized us. If he tells anyone it's us then there might be a war between Leaf and Cloud.
  • Hazō has 10 seal elements and we can decide what they are
  • Hazō is trained as a Summoner but does not have a scroll (It's with Noburi)
  • We can spend 1 FP to Declare that we have two safe houses. One is way on the other side of the city, the other is pretty close, only a couple thousand feet from this inn. Thanks to the wonders of geometry, Hazou couldn't reach there with one HLaM, and wanted to stop to rest. Note that they probably have a way of tracking HLaM. In classic Gouketsu fashion, you prepared the locations with food, water, medical equipment, disguise kits, and a light combat-loadout, mostly consisting of various flavors of explosives and macerators.
  • We can spend 1 FP to Declare that the Toads have set up an "embassy" on the shores of the ocean (i.e., an old Toad you pay off with nice food to chill out on a beach). The Sharks were displeased by this, but a little bit of talking and treason later, they begrudgingly agreed to fetch the Krakens for you, just the one time. The Krakens acknowledged your "embassy" and said they'd consider sending someone through Shark territory regularly after you got the contract, if at all, and even then only if you could guarantee them safe passage. They didn't seem terribly interested in having a summoner, but were pleasant to talk with all the same.

Our big constraint is Touma. We need to ensure that he can't tell anyone about us, which in practice means that we need to kill him.

This plan is aimed at dealing with the next 5 minutes. If we can get enough breathing room to link up with Haru and Akane we will probably be okay.

[x] [GhostQuest] Dome Drop

Declarations:
  • 1FP: We have two safe houses, as stated above
  • 1FP: There is a room on the second floor with a closet containing civilian clothes that would fit Hazō.
Seals:
  • ARS x1 (1 element)
  • Earth Dome x1 (2 elements)
  • 1 storage scroll (1 element) containing several disguises
  • 1 directional explosive (1 element)
  • 5 elements undeclared for now
Find a room on the second floor, set up the Earth Dome seals such that if activated they would fill the maximum space in the room. Pair them with the ARS that we keep in our pocket.

The enemy ninja will presumably come upstairs and search. When we hear him coming:

  1. Cast Hiding Like a Mole (Standard)
  2. Call out to him (Free)
  3. When he enters the room, use the ARS to activate the Earth Dome (Supplemental)
  4. Fire the directional explosive down as we fall (Supplemental)
The Dome will contain both of us. It's tons of temporarily-real granite, meaning it will collapse the floor and we will fall. The directional explosive will blast aside the ground-level floor, dropping us into the basement with its packed-earth floor. Hiding Like a Mole means we will fall smoothly into the ground while the other ninja is crushed by all the granite. Our point of entry into the ground is now buried under tons of granite and there's lots of person-meat-paste splattered around to make it unclear whether we are alive or dead.

Go as deep as possible, get as far as possible from the inn towards our nearest safe house, surface.

Join up with Haru and Akane.

Hey, there are Academy dropouts and ninja that had to drop out due to chakra-injury or normal-injury (missing limb, horrible burns, etc). We might be able to adopt these people into our clan and train them up as sealmasters. We're already utilizing decommissioned ninja for seal-activation, right? And since they're not active ninja, they wouldn't cost adoption slots, right? So why not offer them sealmaster training with the caveat that they "officially" join up with the clan? It seems like the next logical step from putting crippled ninja to effective use (giving them purpose of life, contributing to their community, and earning money) and Asuma was okay with that.

And fuuinjutsu seems to require an active chakra network and little else to start learning. And we know that there are some vague academic skills required, but we have the Goketsu Centers of Education to cover that, right? At the very least, our pool of potential sealmasters is much higher than the average clan's. We should take advantage of that, if we can.

Maybe we can hire the clanless sealmasters that we've just trained and have them teach a basic fuuinjutsu sealing class --with lesson plans that have been vetted by Kagome? We could cycle them out per season, thus freeing up 2 of the 3 for sealwork while leaving the remaining one to teach.

HIDAN: *converts to Youth*

As far as I can tell, their philosophies aren't mutually incompatible, and they both appear to have observable effects on the Painted World favouring their most pious. We might end up fostering the development of a reality-bending syncretic lifestyle. Of course, they'd need a formal banner- who uses green and red again?

ITACHI: *cracks even further*

"Oh, by the way, your little brother tried to bribe me into methodically impregnating every last one of your living relatives for him. I turned him down. A Voting-Clan Head of Leaf and nephew of the Mizukage has to have some standards."

Remember how I keep saying that I absolutely should not be in charge? This is why.

Random question, but is there a way to get an RSS link for story updates / threadmarks? I'm trying to utilize RSS more as a means of realizing when things I follow update, but am having trouble pulling this story into one as the RSS button at the bottom of the page just feeds back into the forum as a whole...

[х] Action Plan: Comparative Ideological Analyses
Word count: 298
  • When Hidan returns, ask his views on other religious doctrines, such as the Spirit of Youth. Let Akane engage with him. With Hidan's attention thus diverted, slip Itachi some honey, which you coincidentally (1FP) have.
  • [...]
  • Join the Akane vs. Hidan theology debate.
    • Dip into Out for this one. Attempt to re-frame their doctrines to be compatible with the truth of reality as you perceive it. See if they can be properly integrated into Uplift, or vice-versa.
    • Be respectful. Make sure they understand you're pursuing the truth, not picking sides. Surely the true faith can survive even when subjected to the full horror of the world beyond the Veil?
  • (Suggest that Noburi memorises as much of this as possible, so he could impress Saya later on.)
I tried.

That was the moment Kagome finally understood the reason for his existence.
We got into talking about things we could do to prepare for it on discord. Top picks include learning to make seals on various surfaces in our own blood, and learning to create 3-dimensional seals with specialized earth jutsu.

Which is all to say that yes, Kagome is needed to scream us out of our ideas. :p

(Personally, I'm more interested in Deidara's response to postmodern art that serves as defense for our compound.)

Mari never left the lifestyle. She's currently banging the head of the merchant council and blackmailing him.
Note that Hazō does not know this.

have we returned to simulationism yet?)
Sadly, yes.

Goketsu Centers of Education
You really need to call them the "Gōketsu Education Department". That way people can talk about "getting their GED".

Might Guy using the Eighth Gate.
Ouch. Too soon, man. Too soon. :p

Hey, you know what'd be great? If version one of our resurrection tech or portal nonsense stripped the resurect-ees of their chakra, and Gai was still approximately chuunin level.

(No amount of bullshit allows one to compete at jounin/s-rank level with no chakra, I know, but he can at least punch way higher than any civilian has a right to.)

One of the things the hivemind is historically bad at is long term planning. We often flit from plan to plan with little thought onto how things will contribute to our end goals. To try to fix that I have wrote a rough outline of what I think we need to accomplish and that way we can make sure that our day to day activities are furthering our long term plans.

Year 1
  • Grab all 4 remaining unclaimed summon scrolls
    • Meet with major players in River
  • conquer Isan and turn it into a Goketsu client state
  • Research STARS
  • Build 7th path and Human path chakra farms
  • Begin establishing 7th path trade network
  • Establish working relationships with Mist officials
    • Have Noburi or Hazo appointed ambassador to Mist
    • Patch things up with Ren
    • Coordinate with Mist Yakuza into making moves to take over other countries underworld
Year 2
  • Begin using summons to exterminate chakra beast and Chakra Golems
    • Use Chakra metal and other goods to put pressure on the 5 thinker clans
  • Create a Goketsu varient of AMI in Sand
  • Begin work on uniting the eastern continent
    • Get them to sign the accords to limit ninja warfare
  • Finish building the alliance of summoners to bring peace to the 7th path
  • Start trying to track and contain the Bijuu
Year 3
  • Arrange a political marriage for Hazou to a Kurosawa
    • Start Kurosawa printing press
  • Conquer Iron and use it as our base for the accords
  • Get Sand, Mist, River, Leaf and River to sign the accords

One thing that I think should be in the 1 year goals is @Lailoken's idea of the chakra beast extermination projects using summons to grab beasts for Noburi to drain, to get more summons. We have to ask Keiko, but she will probably say yes.

Honestly, I would like to do it as soon as we fix our Mist problems. One thing that I want to see is just how much chakra we can harvest in a day if we go all out, hiring scouting missions and such. Something like 10k or 100k doesn't seem unreasonable.
