I note that the bonus XP decays at -0.5 per extra 100 words.

I find it a marginal cost to sacrifice 0.5-1 XP from the above and extend the length of the plan to 200-300 words if it allows us to be more precise with respect to any possible combat situation or ambush.

Like if you agree, hugs if you don't?

I know I liked it, but I'm still going to do my best to minimize word count. Just in case the .5XP is still obtainable.
Anyway, the plan as-is:
Word count: 96/100

[X] Finding the Fifth

General:
  • Vet with teammates first.
  • Keep OPSEC in mind.
ASAP:
  • Keiko:
    • Give Jiraiya full report. <Add: Bias from Third Event?>
    • Panashe: Scout outside city (East Gate).
  • STL:
    • Reaffirm alliance.
    • Offer: Prepare ambush near Event location.
    • Query: Invite [Leaf contestant #10]?
  • Akane: Comfort over elimination.
    • Praise: Got really far.
    • Apologies: OPSEC
      • Failure: Difficulty 'tiering' allies.
Everyone:
  • Goto: Ambush site
    • Sleep in shifts.
    • Ambush teams:
      • <2:1 odds = Ambush.
      • Preparations: Traps, 5% overcharge, Summoning <Note: Add Pankurashun>.
      • Priority: Top teams (Gensō, Downfall...)
      • Ambush: <DETAILS>
      • Take ½-word, 100% drain, hogtie, drug(?).
      • Recover, repeat.
  • Get more Event intel:
    • Speak with Yakuza/lockbox-making blacksmith.
    • Track proctors/teams.

Jiraiya: Full report via Pangolin.
  • Add: Bias from Third Event?

I would give Jiraiya a full listing of the pattern of sabotage the proctors have had against Team Uplift, not just from the third event.

In the second event they released us in the Bog of Mild Inconvenience in a bad spot.
In the third event they gave us a client who sexually harassed the two boys, and whose product was of dubious legality. She also cost us 300 points by refusing to go to a money changer, which is something she would have definitely done for any Mist team.
In the fourth event they gave our team roles that were rather obviously us, and secret roles that were either easy to guess (Leaf double agent - aka a traitor) or would be ridiculously difficult to give cues for without giving it away (blood cultist).

There may be others I've forgotten.

This is a clear pattern of behavior, and Jiraiya may be able to leverage it somehow for advantage. For us, if possible. At the very least, maybe Ren will force the proctors to back off and not try to sabotage us in this next event. At best, we might get our 300 points added.

Sure, I'll just say "Detail sabotage pattern." if that's alright.

Ah, and maybe specify 99% drain - we don't want a repeat of Akane's near-death from chakra exhaustion. 99% with 100 chakra means 1 CP left, so it's safe.

Under STL, I think we need more information on the offer. I think that 100 words is a little bit too few for the detail we need.

Noburi's smart enough to do as he needs.

I think you honestly might need to list it out. Oli isn't going to comb through the thread to get the gist of what we and Hazou mean by that.

Keep in mind that extra bonus XP is not worth any clarity.

I'm skeptical of using bbcode in place of a word.

Yeah, yeah, I'll go over the 100 words, it's way too small for the necessary details. @Oneiros will keep the General section for now since we have the words IMO, but I'll remove it if we have a crunch.

Could someone get to work on the proper ambush plan?

It is not as if their loss here will prohibit them from being advanced in the ranks. All that this loss here means it might happen later. We could provide them with a list of enjoyable site within Mist that they might find interesting as well as allow them a different angle to which they can help the rest of Leaf. While there might not be many events left they could use their non participation to gather information about any civilian/military movement to prepare during the ongoing event that we are participating in. Which they could then sell for money and influence within the remain teams.

For the ambush how do we wanna do this?

I don't think using Misterators is good since it outs Nobs mist drain.

We could do pitfall traps dug by Hazou/Pangolins?

Here's the thing: We have to do it. We are at the fucking bottom with regards to scoring, and need to take out other teams. I do NOT want to leave things up to chance in the Fifth Event, since chances are we won't even be with our team (read: individual event) and the mission might not even allow for take-out of other teams.

We. Have. No. Choice.

If the next event doesn't let us either take out or inflict severe point penalties on other teams, we can't win no matter what. Therefore, we should play to our outs and assume it does. There is no way to do this without leaving things up to chance. If you can't accept that fact then you will waste time and resources pursuing inefficient strategies, like this one.

Think about the return on taking out other teams. As is, in order to get into the tournament, we need to do better than 56 ninja. We take out a team, now we need to do better than 53 ninja. That is nothing. The fact that we're at the bottom now means that taking out top teams doesn't do much for us either. 36 hours is not nearly enough time for this strategy to achieve anything.

What we need to do is really focus on finding the next event, figuring out the rules ahead of time, and tilting the field in our favour with targetted preparation. For example, if the event takes place in an outdoor area of some sort, then finding it and littering it with traps is one way of winnowing down the herd.

Just ideas:
- Syrup/Goo bomb trap in predicted event preparation observation spots
- drain through goo + bugs
- Hinata vs. stealth
- Pangolin from below

Edit: @Roomba
Taking out top teams brings enormous advantages, your argument against it assumes we stay at the bottom which won't happen.
Any non-Leaf top 16 candidate we displace is one spot closer to passing.

Alright, here's the current plan. Gonna go work on the ambush, if some people could cobble together some thoughts, that would be great.

The point is to take out relatively dangerous teams (Team Downfall, Waterfall team) that may pose a serious threat to us in this event. With this done we will be freer to act without worrying about them screwing with us.

Its not about the numbers

We should leak the dossiers we acquired to all the mist teams. If we can get them to inflict any casualties on them it improves our odds

I'd mainly be worried about trying to do an ambush taking away from our time trying to find out information about the event itself. The more we know in advance, the better off we are.

That's actually a valid strategy, IMO. Have the Mist teams do the legwork for us.

  • Ambush:
    • Prerequisites:
      • Have located the event site
    • Location:
      • Between event site and city of Kirigakure
    • Details:
      • Dig underground segments for people to hide under with Tunneling jutsu (to preclude Stealth checks)
      • High-awareness/stealth people on surface (Hinata et al?) to see approaching team, signal underground ones
    • Aftermath:
      • Drain to chakra exhaustion to force 24-hour recovery period
      • Inflict Minor/Moderate Chakra consequences with Noburi
      • Loot seals etc.
      • Hide bodies
    • Repeat.
@faflec Can probably be cut back a bit, but there you go.

I expect Mist to feed false event details to the Yakuza. I would be shocked if they didn't know about our meetings yet.

I think the idea is for us to have the Event location (which Panashe/Team 8? will have found quickly) set up as an ambush site, while some of us (in groups, obviously) split off to get clues. That way we simultaneously have an group handling ambushes while others of us are gather information (about the Event) at the same time.

Here's a thought: Why should we limit ourselves to giving Mist teams those dossiers? Why not give literally every remaining contestant the dossiers?

Generally the most dangerous teams will be the hardest and most paranoid to ambush.

Also, we will likely not be the only ones to have this idea.
