I would rather she be adopted so that she can pursue whom ever she wants romantically,

Something to consider - Keiko is a practical person, and she may prefer an arranged marriage. Dating can be a stressful and time consuming process, so from a practical standpoint an arranged marriage could be an attractive notion provided it is with a reasonably compatible partner. Also, as a clan kid she was almost certainly raised with the concept being a norm rather than an exception. Leaf is going to expect her to pass on her bloodline, so she's going to need a mate, so why not consider what a clan full of geniuses who are probably fairly similar to her might have to offer?

and that Keiko is not sequestered away from us again like she was in VHitM.

I very much doubt that will happen, given that the Nara clan is likely using this to form a strong alliance with our new clan. Sequestering her would be a terrible way to make us like them given the strong bonds our team has. Plus that doesn't seem to fit Leaf culture in general.

Still required marriage interviews and such, aka dating. Not dating would be dumb.

Given that Hazou already talked to Keiko about making sure she was taking her own feelings into consideration, I'm not sure it's our place anymore to figure out what decision she should make. If we feel she's still making a crucial error in reasoning, like last update when we were concerned she was seeing herself as nothing more than a bargaining chip, we should intervene and confront that error, but if that's not the case we should trust her judgement. We should let her decide what she wants to happen, and support and argue in favour of whatever she decides for herself. It's her life, after all.

Agreed.

I think our time could be better spent working on our speech for Shikaku; that's going to be a big part of our long-term influence in Leaf. After all, Shikaku is third in command behind Jiraiya. We need him to like us.

Shikaku is the one who suggested the marriage. Agreeing to it would give us an alliance with the 3 of the 7 other clans. Who also happen to be very wealthy. Wealth that we will need to start our individual revolution going. If Kei was entirely against it we should let her decide. However she seems to actually want to join the clan. This is a win win. We just need to extract maximum value from the deal

She hasn't decided, though. She sees good reasons to join and good reasons to not join, and she hasn't come to her own decision. We should support what she chooses, but not pretend we know what she wants better than she does.

I don't think we need to do a speech for Shikaku. Keiko is the one who would be marrying into the clan, so she's going to be the one speaking to him and the elders, and we should trust Jiraiya to be able to do the negotiations.

I would rather approach things from a different angle, with Hazou socializing with Shikamaru, who we already have a rapport with.

Also, we already have prepared speeches that we made with the team - we don't need to come up with a new one.

The meeting with Shikaku is what we've been preparing for with plans, really? The previous one was partly about covering our general speech plans for each group and figuring out what other ideas were worth mentioning, and large part getting some info on Keiko's thoughts on the Nara clan. This one (now theres more sign we can/should be more active and not stay in the safehouse plotting) we are currently voting to interact with Shikamaru to get a feel for his clan (and Leaf as a whole by extension). It also (depending if we met with Team Gai, Team Asuma, or both) gives Keiko a chance to have a firmer answer to give to the Nara's when the time comes, or at least more specifics to ask about.

Basically, we're trying to info gather before the speech? The interaction with Team Asuma could've with hindsight been done at the same time as the Keiko talk, but without both not sure what we'd add to existing ideas for dealing with Nara? We've already covered (I think? In the list of speech-types) cost benefit discussion reading what material we had to give it detail, whether we need a library trip to get more I'm not sure.

So, are people thinking we should add on another section (maybe with conditionals based on interaction with Shikamaru and/or Tenten) to happen last, where we go to the Nara and what exactly we'll say there? Are we the ones actually deciding when that meeting happens, rather than "The Nara are here to talk, go greet them" on NPC end?

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. We can't move as a group, so it's likely that Mari-sensei or Jiraiya will come with Keiko for her marriage interviews/adoption/negotiation, but not any of the genins, and certainly not Kagome-sensei.

Being able to meet Team Asuma or even Team Gai would also be great as well, but it's likely to be in our room.

This. We haven't necessarily been preparing to meet with Shikaku personally, just a meeting with him in the sense that people on our side would meet with him.

Jiraiya specifically said that Shikaku wants to meet with Hazou personally.

"At any rate, we made plenty of headway. Hazō, you can look forward to a very long conversation with Shikaku—he's the clan leader, in case that wasn't obvious—at some point in the near future. And Keiko…

See there? He called out Hazou by name, specifically. That's not just a "people on our side". For whatever reason, Shikaku has declared he wants to sound out Hazou in particular. We need to be ready.

Ok then, but that doesn't mean we need to prepare a speech. He wants to meet us. He hasn't told us why, but I'm presuming it's not to have a speech made at him. It's a conversation. And we've already made our speeches and prepared statements as of this last update with the help of the team. We don't need to make another speech, especially when we're not certain on the subject matter.

Does Shikaku suspect that Hazou has a hivemind supporting him?

What if the purpose of the meeting is to confirm or disprove our existence?

So... you don't want to prepare further for him? I'm pretty sure that's not what you're saying, but if not, I don't understand why you object to some of us wanting to?...

I'm mostly wondering what should go in the plans, if we still can't move in groups or visit people and we shouldn't prepare more speeches... but thats why I just discuss and vote on other's plans.

I'm saying don't write a speech. Get coaching from Mari, ask Jiraiya for advice, come up with some ideas for seals and stuff that might help the Nara clan, etc.

I think we should at least ask J what topics he expects to come up.

Also this.

A speech, no. But basically, either the players put something in the vote about how they want Hazou to act during the conversation, or the QMs have to make it all up themselves. It seems at least worth addressing. If nothing else, does Hazou have any questions he would like to try and get answered? (You know, in as polite as way as possible.)

We literally don't know what Shikau wants to talk to Hazō about. So, ask Jiraiya so we can then formulate a plan on it.

I am more inclined to work on the semaphore idea.

Put it this way. I believe the semaphore idea is more useful than any specific seals we can come up with for any clan, especially since we have the skytowers and skywalkers.

We can make our communication lines extremely fast and virtually impossible to interdict. Only disadvantage with optical telegraphy is that the signals can be read by the enemies. That could be solved if we got access to electricity and copper wires.
