Oh yeah, we can talk to the Mara clan. It's not treasonous anymore!
HAZŌ: It's good to be back in Leaf. Also, just so we don't have to go over this stuff when it comes up later, here is an itemised list of the 287 treasonous activities I performed while I was out. Any problems?

NARUTO: [looks into the distance, at the raging whirlpool that was once O'Uzu] You're good, man.

MARI: *flips hair* Summoning technqiue: Markimarku!

RITSUO-KAGE: I hate all of you.

TSUNDAE: Fuck this shit. Just let them back in. Now about those medical seals? I want 200 by Friday.

If we can somehow ground them all and then just sink the damn island thats a win in my book.

RITSUO-KAGE: I hate all of you.
HAZŌ: [activates the Explode Hagoromo Ritsuo, Clan Head of the Hagoromo Clan of the Village Hidden in the Leaves in the Fire Country, that Guy with the Metal Wire in His Beard Rune]

RITSUO: [explodes]

NARUTO: What the hell?! Hazō, you promised me that you'd handed over all your anti-Akatsuki runes!

HAZŌ: That wasn't an anti-Akatsuki rune.

NARUTO: Also all runes that could conceivably be used against Leaf ninja.

HAZŌ: I swear to you that the rune I just activated cannot be used to harm a living soul.

NARUTO: I won the Deceit roll by miles. You must be telling the truth. I guess it was just a sealing failure for which you can't be held legally responsible.

HAZŌ: Sure, let's go with that.

Quick rules question. If I have level 40 in an Elemental jutsu and can cast it at Effect:5, what Effect can my Elemental Clones cast it at?

Known Jutsu said:
They have min(caster's Clone Technique level, caster's skill levels / 3) in physical skills and jutsu

Elemental clones can trigger seals but not infuse them. They can cast any non-elemental jutsu known to their caster or any jutsu of their own element known to their caster so long as the caster imbues them with sufficient additional chakra to cast the jutsu in question. Elemental clones do not benefit from bloodline powers.
I think either the Clone has 40/3 = 14 in the jutsu and can cast it at Effect:2, or the max Effect is copied over from the caster and they can cast it at Effect:5. You could also cap Max Effect at that of EC Effect or some combination of the above.

Also, Noburi's bloodline doesn't apply to his clones, so am I correct that they can cast jutsu at normal prices? Does he pay triple to give them extra chakra?

Another experiment I think would be interesting to do with Nobs: Elemental clones only last 10 min, so if he can drain them at the 9 minute mark or whatever (he can probably tell when they're about to pop) then he can recoup all the chakra except casting Cost.

So theoretically if we're about to dungeon dive or raid the Squirrels or something he can pay a small-ish expense to have them up full-time to use Great Lake Formation or Surging Seas for him

Great chapter, @eaglejarl. I really enjoyed it. We appreciate work you put in.

So, this ass barged past a 'Closed' sign, acted rude, and now he was insulting Lord Gōketsu? Lord Gōketsu, who had saved Ōshirō when his forge burned down, who had given him zero-interest loans and generous profit rates on consignment selling where the sales were performed by skilled negotiators, far better that Ōshirō had ever managed on his own? The smith's income had more than doubled since he started working with the Gōketsu and he wasn't having to do all the bullshit parts that he hated. He usually didn't even have to take orders—one of the Gōketsu factors would come out periodically to check on his availability, with a list of potential commissions in hand. Ōshirō would choose the ones that looked interesting, the Gōketsu would be responsible for telling the losers that their commission wasn't able to be handled at this time and fob them off on some other smith. When the work was done another Gōketsu would swing by to pick it up and deliver it. Ōshirō only had to work with his beloved steel and leave all the annoying bits to someone else.
To be fair, we were the ones who burned his forge in the first place, but at least it looks like he's the happier for working with us. Let's just hope that he never finds out what we did...

Ōshirō started to open his mouth to refuse, then smiled. There was a much better solution.
Oh no. You weren't getting out of here that easily. First let's waste a bit more of your time.
The price doubled at the words 'that pig Gōketsu' but outwardly Ōshirō only bowed. "Excellent, My Lord. Allow me to get some parchment and charcoal. We can design something more precise."
I love civilians getting the best of ninja. It's satisfying to see the underdog get the upper hand.

Koruri's little sister, a civilian, had gone through the Gōketsu Educational Department's curriculum and thus she knew her numbers and letters. Knew her numbers rather better than most clan kids, if you were being honest. Chisato was mad for numbers, learning everything she could get her hands on. More than that, she had read poetry and maps and histories. She had read enough that she might have trouble finding a husband, but Koruri could not bring herself to disapprove. The light in Chisato's face every time she came home from the GED made lamps unnecessary.
I love this! I'm glad the GED is doing such good work.

Koruri smiled. "Ah, very wise. I should not be asking for gossip, little mother. Thank you for reminding me. Now that I think about it, I do remember noticing some perturbations in the patient's gut the last time I scanned him." Perturbations that would absolutely be there after she spent a few minutes 'checking him over'. "It's probably nothing but could indicate an imbalance in his bile, in which case spicy foods could be a problem. In fact, why don't you tell the kitchen to note him down as on restricted diet. Marshweed only, boiled for no less than thirty minutes. No salt in his diet, no spices."

Marshweed was easy to digest and very healthy but it tasted like a skunk that had rolled in a midden before dying and rotting in the sun for a few weeks. And if you boiled it for thirty minutes it fell apart into a glutinous green mass that looked and felt like snot.
Ooh, that's nasty.

Plus, I was pretty confident even yesterday that I wasn't going to have it; it's been a bad day for a couple of days and I'm finally starting to get past it but I'm not completely out yet.
I hope you feel better soon.

Put all this together and it dawned on me that I could shirk my responsibilities write an interlude instead of a chapter (hopefully one that people would enjoy) and also satisfy my new commission! Woot, everybody wins!
I'm glad you could give us a good chapter (and also more planning time) while shirking your responsibilities fulfilling your obligation.

2)i am surprised he didn't say dogs, considering what hazou is the summoner of.
Well, to be fair, we used to have a cat(?) at the compound.

Can't get over the fact that the existence of a strongly anti-Hazou faction within our own clan might be what ends up shielding it🗿
"Hazō? We never had a clan lord named Hazō. You must mean Lord Haru."

We should make a runic version of that medical seal once we kill Akatsuki.
Why? Wouldn't it be impractically large?

If we can somehow ground them all and then just sink the damn island thats a win in my book.
Just pull a Whirlpool on it.

The runic version might let us perform advanced monitoring of a person's chakra system beyond what the seal version can do (such as by being more sensitive to chakra fluctuations), or last longer so that fewer seals need to be made.
Sorry, I don't remember. How do these seals (and therefore the corresponding runes) report information?

I think publicizing the existence of runes is not ideal much less putting one out in the open available to study

Maybe we can build Tsunade a secret lab or something later lol

Or she forces Oro to make some room for her in his basement and they share 🗿

Tsunade: I don't give a fuck about national security and clan secrets and neither do diseases.

I don't see Tsunade seeing a useful medical rune and just letting us keep it secret. She'd force us to share it.
