Plus, y'know, Max did say he liked adventure in as many words. Albeit while trying to impress a girl so maybe we should have taken that with a grain of salt. But he did straight up compete in the X Games.

Holy heck he lasted a lot longer then I expected.

also The Talisman works like the Jackie Chan one. Flight and telekinesis... perhaps even stronger then the original version or maybe it's a toon thing.

i'm tempted to give it to Max just because he used it first and having a Toon use it might be more effective? at minimum he should use it during theauction unless something happens and someone else needs the extra power.

Honestly, it might be time for a Chat With the Bossman where we tell Max that, as much as he's a valued member of the team, it's pretty obvious his talents aren't suited for fieldwork, so there's no hard feelings if he gets shifted over to Stewardship. Who knows, maybe he'll be really good at it?

The thread seems to have a history of, upon realizing we've done something wrong, banking too hard in the opposite direction. For example, to have Max "never go on a Quest again" as some people are saying, is, well, maybe overreacting a little? If it weren't for all the possums, he'd have been fine with Echo Creek. Janna being Janna aside. Like, just don't send him to places like Xanadu or whatever.

@Made in Heaven Is it possible that we could vote to send Max on the auction next turn conditional on taking the "Talk with the Bossman" action on him and seeing if he'd be okay with that?

Through the holes, you can see the distant form of Kranz rapidly disappear into the night sky until it is nothing but another twinkling star.

Team Kranz is blasting off again!

Can someone please explain why bringing Max to an auction is a good idea?

Several reasons.

1. Unlike his excursions to Echo Creek, Chicken Itza, or Xanadu, this one is likely to be held in New York (and he has enjoyed travelling to cosmopolitan cities in the past)
2. Given that fancy auctions tend to come with very nice receptions beforehand to show off everything that is to be sold / build interest in the items on hand, this is a chance for Max to enjoy fine food, drink, and interesting company (that isn't trying to kill him).
3. This time, we can send the entire Doof Troop along, so he'll have Vanessa around as a moderating influence to Janna's brand of insanity.

As for the name of the beast...

Meh, I'd be against that. He wouldn't have much use for it. While we may or may not be able to send him on adventures that we deem mundane enough in the future, it'd be kind of a waste of an artifact while also being something that he wouldn't really care all that much about.

Speaking of artifacts, are we still going to give the wings to Hego now that Khan is done with Xanadu?

Seeing the thread reaction to Max I am becoming a little bit uneasy. I want the Dooftroop to be on the auction as it would be very interesting. They are teenagers surrounded by magical items that they could potentially have, it would be just like Harry Potter. Hell just look at my comparison, it's perfect.

Max=Better Ron
Vanessa=Goth Hermione
Janna=Alt Harry
Doof=Dumbledore
Felldrake=Volderduck

Just to explain what Junior Woodchuck Book is, it's, uh,...
checks his notes
...Alexandrian Library with Constantinople Library and greatest Islamic books added on top with works of Renaissance like Da Vinci and Michelangelo and books from Kulbai Khan library added on top with all the knowledge from Mayas, Aztecs, Incas and Olmecs added on top, all concentrated into one single book. I'm completely serious. Read it yourself, it's a great story.

And it's limited to a boys organization?

Even if the auction is cheap, book an extra day or two. "Here a couple thousand, go have fun you three."

Dang, the dice apparently decided that Max Goof doesn't get to enjoy Quests, because man did Kranz manage to stretch out that combat. I imagine if we'd managed to take Rooster Kranz out first round Max wouldn't feel nearly as bad about all this, but the dice will roll how they roll. I imagine New York next turn will be his last Quest for a while, and he's definitely getting a "Chat with Bossman".

A couple thousand is less than pocket change. It's what we handed Janna on the company debit card we issued her.

And since Technor does want Janna to take time off for herself, and Max needs a break too, plus our cute Visigoth Pumpkin always deserves pampering, why not let the Doof troop enjoy New York?

Holy hell that was both hilarious and unexpected at the same time! I didn't expect that stupid duck to last even 1 round with Temujin and Janna gangking on him!

So I guess we won't be send Max out on much quests huh.

Dunno, him going sight-seeing in New York during the auction should be safe.

While I do see the value of Doof having a chat Max to adjust the terms of his internship more to the boys liking, I´d prefer having TECHNOR do his thing first.

Let´s face it, Max got dragged along to stuff he hates and tended to get shat on by bad luck - that´s gotta put quite some stress on him that needs working out ASAP.

Yeah, I can agree both with the team composition and the "roles"

That invite from Xanatos was primarly for Doof, so he needs to go - plus, we always wanted to talk to David some more anyway, so things check out there as well.
Janna/Felldrake are a must because of their combined Occult prowess.
Vanessa can help us reach out to Xanatos because of Doof and David bonding over being family men.
Max...well, he wants a more mundane kind of adventure, so he can go sight-seeing and benefit from having his two friends with him (especially the more collected Vanessa)

As for Max being a "better" Ron, it would help for him not being Movie!Ron, who got hit with a hefty dose of both "Adaptional Dumbass/Jerkass" partly because of context being cut from the plot and partly because of I-don´t-know.
Aside from that, I definitely wouldn´t mind Max and Vanessa hooking up.
