I got to admit. The more I see people arguing to keep Doof's delusions going on and to even conquer Drusselstein, the more I vehemently hate both ideas.

Our action economy is already horrible. Having an actual country to run would not improve things.

It's not like becoming sane would somehow remove Inators. Hell, if anything, i'd expect one of our main buffs from self-actualization to be the Inator Table skewing towards the positive.
And yet, we are explixitly sold we cannot replicate the effects of inators with sane science, so I tend to disagree.

The feds aren't doing that now. They have their grievances with us, but, really, they've barely TOUCHED us. Partly because we don't actually do much, partly because, well, we're a megacorp CEO and they know they can't fight us on open terms.
Yes, we haven't actually done much, for fear of government reprisal. And now we don't have to fear that and have the opportunity to do whatever the hell we want without having to appease anybody.

OK, first of all, by ceasing to be insane, I didn't mean ceasing to do mad science. I meant ceasing to be stupid in how we apply it. And, as for the second part...Cool. We can do whatever we want in the world's worst country. What exactly is the benefit here?

It does feel a bit weird that i'm having to REPEATEDLY argue that an action labeled "this is a dumb idea" is...That.

Okay, I have seen this brought up by more than one person now and I am genuinely curious: Does nobody think that when you take over a country you can build the infrastructure to actually properly run it? As in, getting more action economy out of it from having the resources of a country to manage instead of a corporation's?

Is the concept that in a resource management game, as you expand you get progressively more capacity for management not something that seems fairly intuitive?

Drusselstein doesn't...HAVE resources. We would effectively be throwing our money into a hole in hopes it spits out good stuff. Building the infrastructure to run a nation is, itself, an action we'd have to do, and one I don't think any of our heroes are equipped for.

Drusselstein has LAND, which is pretty much the scarcest resource in the world. All the other bits of land have already been occupied by organizations who have a very keen interest and throw a ton of money into keeping them.

Funny thing is, those organizations don't even see turning a profit as their main concern, they're really just very concerned with keeping the land.

Cool, but that doesn't actually help in terms of running the place? What's the point? Is it just to do shit out of sight of the feds, because...We can do that already? That's what Tier 3 is. Remember, the feds don't actually know what our Council knows IE where our Crystal Key is, our plans against Toffee, ETC.

Okay, so I'll address this concern that "this is a dumb idea" very simply:

If we conquer it and don't like it, what is stopping us from putting Drusselstein back where we found it?
It has extinct animals in it. Perhaps we can sell it to GalFed as another preserve as addition or in place of Hawaii? Show them that even more rare mosquitoes live there.

Doof psychological issue is that he wanted to control country for very petty and wrong reasons. If we change it into wanting to control country to help people then it is already would be a progress for him and possible way to improve his mental state without killing his dream and changing who he is too much.

If we give up Tri-state to the government then why should we not give control of our corporation to someone actually competent too and focus only on family? For Doof without rule tri-state as a goal there is less motivation to bother with other things . You are proposing to abandon his ambition without replacing it with anything substantional

Yeah, I begin to understand why you don't get it. Not out of sight of the Feds, woweed. Out of jurisdiction. Out of their legal capacity to do shit about whatever we want to do.

It's not about hiding stuff behind our frequently pierced security, it's about not having to hide stuff because we're not accountable to the United States Government.

Doof wants to control a country for respect, for people to like him. That's what he aspires to. And the thing is, as the last update showed? He HAS that. He doesn't need a country to get it. Getting a country is just a means to an end that, he doesn't seem to realize he's already achieved. Doof's aspiratrion is to be liked, to have value and purpose, and...He has that. He can just...Keep on doing what he's doing. It's FINE.

Yeah, I begin to understand why you don't get it. Not out of sight of the Feds, woweed. Out of jurisdiction. Out of their legal capacity to do shit about our business.
They barely have the legal capacity now, because, if they depose us, the others will get antsy. I doubt they're gonna try and claim our dimensional portal or something. Hell, Xanay WANTS us to build a dimensional portal, and he seems to basically be puppterting Martinez at this point. Short of, like, trying to kill Congress or something, I think we're fine, dude. You're paranoid.

If this were true, you wouldn't spend half the time arguing about how urgently we have to appease the Feds and how we have to give up Doofania.

I am introducing the novel concept of just, NOT, having to appease anybody, besides maybe some drusselsteinian peasants.

I believe it will take up actions to run because the action specifically mentions that we'll be running a country, and all that entails, in orange text. That will take actions to manage.

Outcome: Drussestein will become sovereign territory ruled by you. Like, actually. You will have genuine absolute power over the land of your birth, with all the responsibility that implies

This is a fascinating false equivalence. The thing is his dream is actively harmful to himself and the people around him.

We would not be giving up the Tri-state area to the government. The government already owns it. What the action does is recognize that Doof is not a golden age dictator and act as a capstone for the character arc we've put him on by completing his self-reflection.

Giving up the corporation would end the game right there.

And again the people arguing to keep Doof as a delusional loon manage to radicalize me even further against it.

Yeah, because, whether or not they would depose us, they still have power, they can still make it hard for us to do business in their country. Owning Drusselstein will not change that. And, no, we can keep Doofania, but we shouldn't, because it's a dumb idea that does nothing to benefit us. Hell, we don't own Doofania now. The feds own it. This is just acknowledging the reality of the situation. Owning Drusselstein won't give us this whole "total freedom to do whatever we want whenever we want" you seem to think it will. If anything, it would probably be a restraint, a responsibility we have to manage. And we have enough trouble managing a megacorp and kinda-managing two-and-a-half-states.

The reason where trying to appease the feds is 2-fold.
1. The Feds were worried we were experimenting with Flubber; which is a concern both to the masquerade and uh... the entirely of the midwest USA
2. We need to reach out to the Feds as much as possible next turn do to the tarot reading.

Keeping it on the backburner for some more good Fed PR is fine.

Oh, yeah, for that matter...We just got a pretty big hint we need to work with the feds in some fashion. Conquering a sovereign nation does not scream "work with established authority" or "rule with wisdom".

Oh, I am not objecting to the idea that it would take actions to run. I'm asking why you don't seem to believe that having our own sovereign territory won't allow us to get more actions. It is in orange text, as you've mentioned, which we've been told is the mark of actions with high risks and high rewards.

Giving up the corporation would end the game right there.
What is the point of the game? I am asking seriously, what are your objectives in continuing to play? Just existing indefinitely? What is a goal that you are aiming for?

Yeah, because, whether or not they would depose us, they still have power, they can still make it hard for us to do business in their country. Owning Drusselstein will not change that. And, no, we can keep Doofania, but we shouldn't, because it's a dumb idea that does nothing to benefit us.
Exactly. They can make it hard for us to do business in their country. They can't affect what we do in our country, and more importantly they don't care. So let them keep their country and we get our own.

Citation needed. That's a guess people have made, but it's not actually anything the QMs have said, to my knowledge.

For Doof to come out the other end alive, relatively mentally stable, and a better person then he was when he started. Also, to some extent, Kill Bill.

It's not like we can switch to doing business exclusively in Drusselstein, dude. We'd still mainly be operating in the US, we'd just also own the worst nation in the world.

I'm neutral on conquering Drusselstein. Or, if I wasn't, I would tell you the previous sentence instead of what my preference is. That being said, taking over Drusselstein and turning it into the next Genovia would be quite a feat. Donkelberry wine, anyone?

So since I feel like were arguing in circles, heres an idea for what might be good to search for in our last 5 hero spots

Celena
Occult Hero
Intrigue Hero
Terraformer
Heroball Fodder Slot

Terraforming is the last INdustry we need some focus on, Occult and Intrigue are the last 2 stats that need help, and a slot where we get some extra guys to use in heroballs is always good. If we don't want to try that we can always get another intruge or occult unit, or save it incase we find a hero we really, really want later.
Ngl while Terraforming is like the last real area we could use for a learning specialist I'm not sure it would be easy to actively hunt down one without a name to hire.

So for those slots I think it should be something like this?

Celena
2nd Occult Unit to have a proper Occult frontline that doesn't have bad traits or isn't pulled in every direction
Fredzilla (Eventual Heroball Fodder)
GoGo Tamago (Learning/Martial Flex and eventual Heroball Fodder)
Flex Spot for any good hero we meet in the Wild (Or potential quest related ones like Donald)

Maybe put another Intrigue filler into the 5th slot while working to slim for a heroball? But I like the general flexibility having a free slot offers at any one time.

Oh, yeah, for that matter...We just got a pretty big hint we need to work with the feds in some fashion. Conquering a sovereign nation does not scream "work with established authority" or "rule with wisdom".
I beg your pardon?

1. The Feds were worried we were experimenting with Flubber; which is a concern both to the masquerade and uh... the entirely of the midwest USA
Dodging the need for the US Masquerade is pretty much half my reason for wanting Drusselstein.

For Doof to come out the other end alive, relatively mentally stable, and a better person then he was when he started. Also, to some extent, Kill Bill.
Soooo, you literally want to continue to exist. Gotcha. You know we could accomplish this by quitting as CEO of DEI and "just" being an uber-rich shareholder that focuses on self-improvement and philantropy, right? We'd probably even have more money if we just let DEI be run in the most boring, financially responsoble way possible.

"I'll remake a fun world, a better world! A party that never ends with a host that never dies! No more restrictions! No more laws!"
Pretty much. The one other being who shows the capacity to do some of the things Doofenshmirtz is able to do. Only, Doofenshmirtz is not omnicidal and is actually a pretty nice dude? So the comparison falls kinda flat l, after all.
