-[] Help her feel safer by expressing your desire to help everyone, including people that've made bad choices and interfered with other people's peaceful lives.
-[] Give her an easy opportunity, let her help you help her: Let go of the memory thing. It's not doing her any good now: everyone knows where she is and Niko's clearly immune to it. All it's doing is preventing you from helping her

I'm... not quite sure how this would convince Hijiri to drop the memory field. And I'm concerned the first line will just annoy her.

before Oriko even... noticed me
Long is the way and hard, before Oujo-sempai notices you.

You smile at your friends. You can see yourself facing Walpurgisnacht with them. And you can see yourself winning. It might be an easy fight. It might not be. Certainly, your powers are nearly... tailored to fighting Witches, to murdering them with impunity. But, well. Walpurgisnacht is in a class of its own, after all.

Is that really the case?
Time Stop + Unlimited Cleansing = Cheat Haxxor Walugipwn? I think it does. Worst-case scenario, you can just go round Japan stealing all the dakka and shooting at it as much as you want with short intervals to drop in and out, and that's not even accounting for Sabrina's powers. Time stop is really hard to counter...
Well, I doubt things would be that easy.
Will Feathers be immune to magic or something? Gah, pointless speculations. Bad me, no Meguca hair flips for you today.

The girl eyes you for a moment, before turning back to Mami. "I see," she says, apparently discarding you from her mind. "May I leave?"

Can't Sabrina meet a nice magical girl for a change? Without underlying emotional hiccups? No? Okay. :(

You know, there is one thing in PMMM-verse that is different from Real World, aside from the whole magical girl shtick, of course. Hair and eye colors. Now, in the very beginning, I shall acknowledge "Hair and eyes are in all colors of a rainbow, because anime bullshit", but can't we have an in-Universe explanation, as well? Maybe mutation as a side effect from the lasting usage of advanced technology by space aliens? I can almost convince myself... nah, should try harder than that. Was that a Wish? "Hair, rainbow hair for everyone, and let no one go away slighted!" ( that made me remember Picnic on the Roadside. Granting Wishes 40 years before Urobutcher! )

You regret it, you think.
You think?
Well, at least it's something, SV.:p

Hmm. Does Sabrina self-identify as Madoka's and Homura's daughter? Or are we just trolling ourselves with that?
Of course, there is the small fact that she herself isn't completely sure. But if that's true, imagine her coming out:

H:"... what."
M:"Sabrina-chan, um, could you please explain?"
S:"Well, you see, when two magical girls love each other very much, and the one of them is a god-like entity while the other can travel through time, there comes a moment in their lives when they do naked space hugs, and!.. Okay, I'm uncomfortable with explaining all that! It should be the other way around! Or are you telling me that you had me by accident? Maybe I'm not your daughter at all! It's true, isn't it? Mom, mom... am I adopted?"
M&H: "Uuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhh!.."
... Moving on.

Towards the end of the sentence, her mental voice shades towards melancholy.
Was she trying to make herself a friend? Ah, Mami, when I think that you can't possibly make me sadder, you smile that little smile of yours and plunge me even further down my depression spiral. Except I didn't have a depression, before I started reading PMCA. Hmm. :eyebrow:

Homura sighs, nothing more than a slow breath huffed out between barely parted lips. Amethyst eyes give the back of Sayaka's head a brief stare, before Homura head tilts infinitesimally towards you, glancing at you.

Homumom is maaaaad at us!
... You know, for an alleged master manipulator, Sabrina fucks up social interactions way too often. She gives herself too much credit, the way I see it.

You know, I think I understand why Homura is so mad at Sabrina, sometimes. The first thing she said to Sayaka about being a magical girl was a ton of "the world is awful, and everyone is out for themselves, so don't go along with that love, justice, duty bullshit unless you want to die". ( I paraphrase, duh. )
She is sort of Kyouko, who even stopped giving fucks, because nobody pays attention. And when they do, they decide to break down and murder everyone. ( no, I'm not calling it Tetris, this is ridiculous. You can't make me! )
Sabrina is in direct opposition with this belief, and she doesn't even have a martyr complex to justify it. She contradicts Homura's worldview, stemmed from a lifetime of experience. Homura might be even a little bitter about it? So, part of why Homura is going along with her most of the time is that she really, really believes in Madoka. She wants to be, uh, proven wrong, I guess? That, and the whole "everything to protect my waifu" thing that got her in the time travel business in the first place.
I wonder. How much does she really feel for Sabrina as a person? "An annoying friend who means well", at least?
Ugh. This is getting me nowhere. Back to reading.

Madoka thinks the twintails make her look mature.
That's adorable.

HAIL MECHA GUREN ZILLA LAGANN.
HAIL!

Finished "Interloper". This thing is huge!
That means it has huge guts!

...for those of who haven't read Kazumi Magica, could we have an explanation on what the 'freezer' is and what exactly the images up there mean?

I'm... not quite sure how this would convince Hijiri to drop the memory field. And I'm concerned the first line will just annoy her.
I expect that line to make Hijiri-A happier. It emphasizes that her agency exists phrases everything as something that she could choose to do after considering what the results would be. She doesn't care that she's "doing bad" - she said as much when she was arguing with Niko and I absolutely believe her. It's an extremely common pattern among rebellious teens, which is exactly what Hijiri is being right now. What she wants, above being a "good person", is to have meaningful agency. She wants the ability to make decisions. And so the vote affirms her agency as concretely as possible, acknowledging that her decisions matter and giving her the choice to make more decisions that matter.

Saying that we can't trust Hijiri is actually intended for the Pleiades. Just saying that we want to help Hijiri will cause friction; the Pleiades are operating on anger right now, not logic. So we make it clear to them that we don't condone her actions and we phrase the bits afterward so they can believe that we're conditioning our help on Hijiri working to undo her misdeeds.

As I said to Redshirt Army, I'd consider Hijiri rejecting this offer to be strong evidence of Hijiri-H. In fact, that's about where I'd flip over to interrogation mode - What exactly did Yuuri tell her that made her conclude "the truth", what was her wish, what are her powers and how do they work, how and when did Yuuri contact her, did she get anything about Yuuri's own motives, where was she on Monday at 11 AM, etc.

Made edits to vote:
  • Generalized and switched to a more goals-focused format.
  • Ask Hijiri for information on Yuuri.
  • Put conversation off to next vote, after we have information and in case Hijiri doesn't cooperate.

[x] Simultaneously: Telepathy Sayaka and discuss showing up for her parents and for school. Fly a clone home?

[x] Propose bringing Hijiri along. You're not done asking questions.

[x] Get that conversation with Yuuri. Use the opportunity to therapy-ize Hijiri.
-[x] Affirm her agency and its potential for both good and bad: Hijiri's choices have damaged everyone's ability to trust her. Fixing that will require making different choices going forward.
-[x] Help her feel safer by expressing your desire to help everyone, even if they make mistakes. People without problems don't cause problems for others.
-[x] Give her an opportunity to help you help her: Drop the memory thing and help you deal with Yuuri.

[x] Get information about Yuuri.

[x] Proceed.
-[x] If no cooperation: Break to vote.
-[x] Otherwise: Ask the group to let you speak to Yuuri alone. She knows dangerous things and you don't want her having everyone's brainmail address.

147 words, hahHAH!

After they all get witchbombed, the Plieades go around putting magical girls on ice, to stop them from despairing while they try to figure out dewitching.
Well, IIRC, more than dewitching, they wanted to figure out how to cleanse Soul Gems (even thought they already believed Jyuubey was cleansing their gems at that point, so... whatever), and how to turn meguca back into normal girls.

The dewitching part was aimed just at Kazumi, I think (and later also at Satomi).

I copied that first line straight from Vebyast's vote. I'm sure it could be refined.

As for why it would convince her to let go of the field... I thought that was self-evident. It's not accomplishing anything for her right now, but returning it will help her re-earn some trust so we can help her.

Pretty sure somebody did an omake along those lines....

Actually, Firn just increased the limit to 200 words.

And I thought it was clear the reasons Hijiri was holding onto the memory device weren't just logical ones? She feels safer while holding it (even if that's not actually true). You need to give her reasons to feel safer if she's to consider letting that thing go.

edit: the desire to help everyone by itself is too nebulous.

Perhaps we can make it clearer that we will protect her rights, but we can't while she's hiding behind that thing?

Theoretical Good Hijiri and Bad Hijiri. We don't know yet if Hijiri is what she appears to be, or if she's faking it and is actually a pants-on-head crazy mass-murdering supervillain like she was in PMKM.

@Vebyast

Ideas.

[] Simultaneously: Telepathy Sayaka and discuss showing up for her parents and for school. Or just call and tell them she'll explain later? Offer you or Mami talk with them.

[] Propose bringing Hijiri along.
-[] She's made her own choices, and should help deal with the consequences.
-[] She's also got important
information we need.

[] Amateur therapy: Affirm Hijiri's personhood and
agency.
-[] Ask how she's doing.
-[] Affirm the fact she's making her own decisions: Point/ask her to think of the logical consequences.
-[] She must understand we can't just let her go. She attacked more than one person and stole and broke some important things.
-[] What does she intend to do about it?
-[] Encourage her to take responsibility and try to make up for her actions.
--[] She can start by giving up the Privacy Device. Promise you'll treat her fairly; you want to help everyone. That includes her.
--[] Ask for that telepathy call with Yuuri.

[] Proceed.
-[] If no cooperation: Break to vote.
-[] Otherwise: Ask the group to let you speak to Yuuri alone. She knows dangerous things and you don't want her having everyone's brainmail address.

A couple thoughts after reading. Been rereading the thread to see if they came up, but I don't see them explicitly mentioned.

Firstly, both Niko and Hijiri respond poorly to us speaking up for them.

Secondly, Hijiri is obviously envious of Niko having the Saints. Now that things are calmer, it could be time to start dropping "You Are Not Alone" hints.

I thought that "make her feel safer by Doing X" was the clearest possible way to say that the goal is to make her feel safer. Saying that we want to help everyone and letting her understand that we consider her to be part of everyone is additionally valuable.
Perhaps we can make it clearer that we will protect her rights, but we can't while she's hiding behind that thing?
Making it an explicit condition will destroy the feeling that she has a choice. Doing that is no better than dictating it or taking it by force. Especially after we just got done talking up her ability to choose.

[x] Simultaneously: Telepathy Sayaka and discuss showing up for her parents and for school. Fly a clone home? Commit hard to upcoming reveal of magic to parents?

[x] Propose bringing Hijiri along. You're not done asking questions.

[x] Persuade Hijiri to connect you to Yuuri. Take the opportunity to affirm her personhood and agency.
-[x] Choices have consequences, both good and bad. Her past actions have damaged everyone's ability to trust her. She can fix that by making different choices going forward.
-[x] Reassure her by expressing your desire to help everyone, even after they make mistakes - if nothing else, people without problems don't cause problems for others.

I'm considering an addition like:

[] Ask Kazumi what her plan was for containing Hijiri.

In hopes of finding out of if the Freezer exists.
