. Kagome should want to believe Hazou here, and also shouldn't be able to roll awareness for things occurring out of his sight. There is some risk, but this is probably the best course of action
I am open to suggestions to improve the plan. But as it stands, I think this is our only real option. Kagome must die.

I would argue that whether something occurs out of Kagome's sight is what a Perception roll is for, and you can't circumvent it by careful description any more than describing exactly how we're sneaking would obviate a stealth roll.

If you want to jump Kagome then jump him, and trust the others to join in. Trying to warn them beforehand against jounin-level perception is just asking him to interpret the hand signal from the muscle movements in the parts of Hazou's arm he can see or something bullshit like that. That's my advice to improve the plan.

Anyway, it's always possible that Leaf gets blown up tomorrow, or that the team pulls some miracle out of their asses which make up for this or otherwise render it moot. Who knows if we need to make a diversion through Rain and what might happen with Kagome along? We might grab the capybara scroll or kill the Condor summoner.

We don't have to make a decision just yet. We can just continue with the mission as planned for the time being, or explicitly decide to go for a Hail Mary.

Hey, did we ever find out if Kagome knows the original perma-henge? He has displayed pretty impressive hengecraft already.

Our options are:
  1. Leave with Kagome. Be hunted down by Jiraiya and Leaf as missing-nin, and inevitably die. Even if by some miracle we don't, we effectively give up on our chances of affecting the world for the better.
  2. Exile Kagome. Trying to keep this a secret will not work; Jiraiya will find out. So we might as well tell him. He can try to do damage control, but this will irreparably damage our relations with him, severely lessening our standing as well as all but destroying our prospects for guiding Leaf towards our goals. Not to mention the danger of anyone else finding out.
  3. Kill or subdue Kagome, and return him to Leaf.
    1. If we do manage to return him to leaf, he's just going to be tortured to death for information anyway. So probably not that.
    2. We probably stand a pretty good shot at killing him, given he hasn't prepared, and Akane + Hazou can take him in a fair fight as long as he doesn't use explosives. Given the setup, he should be completely caught off guard, and completely outmatched by the other four. Kagome should want to believe Hazou here, and also shouldn't be able to roll awareness for things occurring out of his sight. There is some risk, but this is probably the best course of action.

Exile to / hiding out on the summoning plane?

research grinding indefinitely

I think it's doable. We're taking away most of the members that can't keep a secret. If the team is willing to help us in any way, sell our mass produced seals as an example, and if jiraya doesn't want to kill us because it would make his clan mad, well it's alright. And we can take the blame for this issue to a certain extent.

Hell, we can just make a hole in the ground and probably figure out how to make it self-sufficient. Air recyclers, indoor farming, etc.

Team downlift.

I would agree with this, except that Kagome didn't need a deception roll against us. This implies that rolls don't always happen for things characters care about. Given that Kagome is currently an inconsolable sobbing wreck, I doubt he's going to be looking for hidden hand signs from his best friends planning his death.

[x] lore update

Because I trust people to not be suicidal more in a couple of days (or for the suicidal people to have left the quest and no longer propose suicide).

"Team Downfall"

This has pretty much ruined my day. I'm going to take a little break, I think, watch something heartwarming, have some chocolate (FLASHBACK TO KAGOME LIKING CHOCOLATE) ...gah. A-And check back to see how this mess is doing when I'm not feeling quite so horrible.

Who knows, maybe they'll decide to retcon it or something...

:(

Honestly, thinking more about it, I'm just interested in that or the suicide plan. I'd rather not read about a character that intermittently has psychotic breaks that result in worst case scenario madness/drama. Long research time skip so we're able to survive in the wild on our own, or blow up and start over/look forward to reading something else from the authors if they decide to scrap mfd world after hazo's story ends

Now everytime somebody votes, "[] Lore Update", I can't help but imagine Hazou standing there, zoned out, robotically repeating, "Lore Update".

In this case he's doing it covered in his team leader's entrails while his first love and only friends in the world ask him if they should execute his sensei, or just emotionally break him so horribly that it would have been better if they had never found him in the first place. The same day that he just casually handed Hazou a personal fortune to buy a pretty birthday gift for his girlfriend because he wanted him to be happy.

It seems appropriate.

What @Radvic said above, except I would also argue that you are entirely wrong. Carefully describing our actions and planning in such a way as to mitigate the target's rolls is a thing we can do. Example: We got a situational modifier when we traversed the airspace above Leaf due to the elements of our plan. This resulted in an effective bonus to stealth.

Dispel, followed by "Kagome and I are leaving" seems like the best option.

Live in the woods, slowly build a powerbase, have larger time skips in the quest if the quest continues. Screw dealing with people/society, just build a workshop and work on technical problems for a while. It's a solution that I personally find very appealing. Be a monk.

I never really have the time to devote to this quest that I wish I did, but I think voting for this is the best way to contribute at the moment. We need time. Time to talk amongst ourselves and to chat with the QM's.

At the moment, everybody is hopping mad, and that's only going to make the QM's defensive. Too many folks are blowing up and saying that this was a stupid or bad-faith decision on their parts. That is not constructive or accurate, and doing it in a public forum puts the QM's in a position where their credibility rests on defending their decisions. It puts everybody in a position of stalemate.

If we want to appeal this decision, we need to take a step back for just a couple of hours and come back when we're ready to talk calmly. And even if the ultimate answer is, "no," we shouldn't be making action plans while we're this upset.

Mainly I'm shocked that after seemingly genuinely touched about the artwork of Kagome and Hazou bonding together, after all the emotional investment, the QMs would do... this. Killing off Kagome due to the luck of the dice would be one thing. The narrative could still have had him gone out like a brave bad-ass.

Having him murder a teammate and then be told the choice is to exile or kill him is emotionally repugnant. Like, why does anyone want this? How does this make anyone involved in this game in any way happy? It's just a game. It inherently has no integrity and no weight other than the feelings the players and QMs invest in it.
I think you're mistaking the point of the quest. We all love Kagome, and writing him is a blast, but when we ask what he would do in a given situation, we are compelled to write him as modelled, not as would make a great narrative. And Kagome has terrible, terrible judgement.

By the way, @Velorien ? That reads like it's a personal rebuke at the voters, hidden inside an in-character statement.
It's exactly how Akane would feel. Remember, she was pretty strongly personally affected when Hazō caused the whole team to be kicked out of Leaf, causing her to be left alone in hospital without him or her other friends with a serious injury, using her as a justification. And right now she's just been told that a similar misjudgement on his part has led to the death of a comrade. Is this reaction in some way inappropriate or implausible?

Hmm... I have a question:

@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail

When Kagome pasted Minami, did she have her seals on her? I thought that destroying seals would result in sealing failures, or random things being unstored. Is this assumption incorrect? Because if so, it vastly changes our options for killing Kagome.
No, destroying inactive seals is fine. Otherwise nobody would ever dare to use explosives to kill a ninja.

We could do something like this:

[X] Action Plan: The Great Reveal
Explain to the team that our mind is largely run by a transdimensional hivemind with limited access to our actual experiences. This is the source of all of our sealing innovations and all of our spontaneous plan creation (time flows differently for them). It also is why we put our foot in our mouths occasionally. Hazou's death will lead to another individual being controlled by the hivemind, and that individual is likely not going to act in the interests of the team. The hivemind likes Kagome enough that it will likely force Hazou to kill himself if Kagome dies or is exiled without us. Suggest that Kagome and Hazou leave the team to do research, and set up a method of communication with the team. Possibly through some part of Jiraiya's network.

[x] lore update

@Velorien @eaglejarl @OliWhail As for a common-sense trait that would help with this, maybe run the common sense rolls against XP in a curve that I am not sure how it would look, except probably have the chance of success approach one as you get higher and higher, with Jonins making that mistake once every, oh, billion rolls.
