Oh, and I would just like to note for the record that I am impressed with Minami for being so thorough with regard to the team's skills. She gets my thumbs up there.

This might come across as condescending. I'd recommend dropping this bullet point since the rest of the plan is already contingent on her approval.
Removed that
My main issue is waiting until nightfall. Time is a factor... there's no need to burn the entire day just to have the advantage of darkness.
Changed to waiting till we have sufficiently scouted out the area
I don't think we should do this. We're not missing-nin, so we don't need to act like thieves, and we might want to be somewhat concerned about angering the local authorities.
I think giving the appearance that we are missing nin is fairly important. To disguise us from being associated with Jiraiya's agent. If we just kidnap Shirakawa people will definitly look at his enemies. If we still his stuff well that's a reason in of itself to do the job.
Also I just like following in Dad's footsteps and playing Robin Hood

[X] Action Plan: Ninja stuff

  • Report to Minami
    • Describe the potential mission to her
    • Tell Noburi about the chakra poison and see if he thinks it's a thing that he would be interested in acquiring
  • If we get approval to take the mission begin scouting
    • Find where Shirakawa and his gang is located
    • Get a solid count of the number of people in his warehouse
    • Wait till we have successfully scouted the area to make our move
      • Cut a hole in the rough
      • drop in mistarators
      • Have Noburi drain everyone in the building to unconscious
      • If anyone is not drained immediately engage them in combat
        • If combat happens use chakra boost
    • Loot the warehouse of all of its valuables
    • Kidnap Shirakawa and take him back to The Jeweler
      • Get the Snake Poison
      • Buy Akane a piece of Jewelry for Akane
This does reveal to people who investigate that a wakahisa probably did this. We could always just explode the warehouse on our way out to cover our tracks.

[X] Lore update

I don't see a plan I have confidence in voting in, and tomorrow is the deadline. We got only one day to come up with a plan.

Win Conditions for the mission:
  • Deliver messages to all the contacts. (Duh.)
  • Prototype a gun. (So we can do the "you wouldn't give me anything to turn upside down, so I found something on my own" thing and greatly improve our value and competence in Leaf's eyes.)
  • Massively improve relations with Minami. (Quite apart from wanting to make friends, this is our first mission and so much of our reputation with the leaf bigwigs going forwards will depend on how Minami talks about us in her report. We need that report to glow.)
Anything I'm missing?

[X] Action Plan: Explodey Ninja stuff
Complete the mission safely, unnoticed, and preferably with explosions.
  • Report to Minami
    • Describe the potential mission to her
    • Tell Noburi about the chakra poison and see if he thinks it's a thing that he would be interested in acquiring
    • Brainstorm with whole team on plan. Accept critiques and suggestions, especially from Keiko and Minari
  • If approved begin scouting
    • Find where Shirakawa and his gang is located
    • Get a solid count of the number of people in his warehouse/hideout
    • Determine if there's any possibility stuff they're storing could plausibly explode in a grain explosion
  • After scouting, if viable
    • Cut a hole in the roof
    • drop in Mistarators
    • Have Noburi drain everyone in the building into unconscious
    • If anyone has more than a civilian's worth of chakra, throw some fire macerators into it, explode the building and leave
    • If warehouse still standing and outside world hasn't noticed yet, spend a few seconds storing miscellaneous valuables from the warehouse
    • Take Shirakawa and, if the hideout has any possible reason it could explode aside from invading ninja, leave a timed coal-fire macerator to explode the warehouse after we leave
  • Present Shirakawa's body (either charred or unconscious) to the Jeweler
  • Take our reward and go on our way.

Main differences between this plan and Ninja Stuff is that 1) we ask Keiko and Minari for suggestions explicitly, 2) if combat breaks out we just throw explosives and run instead of engaging, and 3) we most likely explode the hideout when done. I've also cleaned up the formatting a bit and fixed a misspelling.

[X] Action Plan: Remember the 3D Flowchart?

Primary Goals:
1. Survive.
2. Deliver messages.
3. Accomplish side-goals.

Actions:
  1. Ask Keiko to review the plan first. Then after revisions, present to Minami as advice, while highlighting she's team leader.
  2. Defer to Minami about whether to take this mission. If she says not to, go to Section 3.
    1. If the mission is go, prioritize safety, speed, and the guy alive in that order.
    2. Immediately scout out the warehouse. Take note of force composition, positioning, and escape routes.
      1. Scout with Minami's ability first. Use Living Roots to also help scout.
        1. If detected, open with Dust Bomb followed immediately by implosion seal. If anything's still alive, have Keiko and Minami act as long ranged support with Noburi and Kagome in mid range, while Hazou and Akane close. If there's a jonin, fighting retreat.
      2. Have Keiko and Noburi prepare the area after Minami gives the all-clear. Think escape routes, ways to increase destroyed evidence, how to make break-in look normal and places to hide dead bodies.
    3. Attack when preparations are complete or hostiles are in the area of operations. If non-lethal, have Noburi open the fight with misterators and Keiko end it with non-lethals. Keep the area of misterator effect limited if possible.
    4. If possible and if Minami approves it beforehand, loot valuables.
    5. Destroy evidence and leave some one else with the blame.
    6. Deliver Shirakawa to the Jeweler.
  3. If not going through with the side mission, politely inform the Jeweler.
  4. Pick up something for Akane from the Jeweler.
  5. Pack up and leave.
No matter what Minami says about the side mission, can you please do 4 regardless?

Everyone else: thoughts?

Out of curiosity, what is the reason behind chakra boosting to attack, instead of throwing an explosive and running if we encounter a ninja?

I figure that we might wind up throwing around explosives to often and that it might be a way for enemy intelligence agency find the connection and identify parts of jiraiya's spy network. If we beat people up just seem like random ninjas

Prototype a gun. (So we can do the "you wouldn't give me anything to turn upside down, so I found something on my own" thing and greatly improve our value and competence in Leaf's eyes.)

I'm still thinking a Macerator variant is going to be the easiest way to accomplish this. And it'd probably be a lot easier for Hazou to solve the mechanical problems through sealing research as compared to trying to actually make a good gun without the mechanical tools to do so. Projectile speed can be solved by upping the release velocity limit - if we can get to 100m/s then we have musket level muzzle velocities, so effectively lethal. Sturdy barrel? No need since the projectile is being released with the desired vector straight from the seal. Rifling? Not a problem, adding spin to the object when it's released should be simple enough. Reload speed? As quick as putting in a new object, and if we can add a serial release function so each object sealed can be released one at a time, all at once, or in between we can minimize reload and add shotgun fire as well as full automatic. There's also no recoil if we're using a solution like this. We'd also need to figure out how to attach it to a handheld object for easy aiming and get a trigger mechanism worked out, but that an all the other stuff should be doable if we get Kagome and Jiraiya to help us. (we don't strictly need a prototype even if it'd be ideal, but we can ask Kagome if the needed modifications would be viable)

@eaglejarl, @OliWhail, @Velorien - for the sake of engineering purposes, what's the diameter of a Storage Seal or Macerator?

The next day, present Shirakawa's body (either charred or unconscious) to the Jeweler

Why would we be waiting through the night? Why not ASAP?

I am concerned about collateral damage/fire spreading to other warehouses.

    3. Immediately scout out the warehouse. Take note of force composition, positioning, and escape routes.
      1. Scout with Minami's ability first.
        1. If detected, full lethal. We don't really need to be making friends with people after Jiraiya's network.
      2. Have Keiko and Noburi prepare the area after Minami gives the all-clear. Think escape routes, ways to increase destroyed evidence, how to make break-in look normal and places to hide dead bodies.

  4. Pick up something for Akane from the Jeweler.

GMs, if you don't want to write the entire encounter in a single update, 2.3 is a good place to stop. Otherwise, if you're going through with the entire plan, can you please do 4 regardless?

Everyone else: thoughts?
I like a lot of the mission prep, though I'm not quite sure what "lethal loadout" means. Does that mean we take explosives instead of macerators? I think we normally have all our seals on us at all times, so it seems a little strange to specify we're carrying lethal things.

I'm not a fan of the note. I think it provides an unneccessary piece of evidence, given that we don't know anything about Shirawaka's possible connections with ninja, and providing evidence (handwriting, ink, paper) to anybody investigating (if someone investigates).

I suspect a little more detail than "full lethal" might be helpful for "if combat." Like, does that mean explosives, rushing and punching, Pangolins? Chakra boosting? And if so how much (we can drain ourselves in two maneuvers if we full on chakra boost). Do we use the pangolin claws? Roki? Is there a point at which we run? How much collateral damage is acceptable?

I'm not a huge fan of politely informing the Jeweler if we aren't doing the mission because the extra hours he gets to prepare seem less good than the extra secrecy he gets by us not coming back.

I figure that we might wind up throwing around explosives to often and that it might be a way for enemy intelligence agency find the connection and identify parts of jiraiya's spy network. If we beat people up just seem like random ninjas
A big draw of the coal macerator explosive is that it is the sort of explosion which might happen spontaneously in a warehouse. Also, we aren't known for our explosives yet, so risking our lives over not using explosives seems a little silly. I can understand not blowing up the building if we don't have to, but using explosives seems like a vastly superior combat strategy which significantly improves our chances of survival if we encounter enemies.

It spread to other warehouse, then to the rest of the town. It might even cause a firestorm which would mean even worst result.
It is highly unlikely to burn down the entire town. I'm unsure what you mean by firestorm.

Edit: although, I probably support creating a firestorm (whatever a firestorm is).
