I doubt Conjura is capable of traveling with even 10 humans, let alone 200. Also I highly doubt she would consent to this. I feel comfortable not suggesting it.
Bringing just one or two humans to the right spot in minutes rather than days could be a game-changing advantage when the battle plan hinges on runemasters who need hours of on-site setup for best effect. if a single individual can be carried near-instantly, larger groups might be a simple matter of taking multiple trips. On the flip side, Conjura might proactively inform Akatsuki. One way or another it'd be foolish to completely overlook such possibilities.

More generally, I don't think we should be asking for his research notes. We won't be able to research those runes in a single day, and any longer than that would require us to setup Force Domes. And once we have the Force Dome (sphere ?) around the rift, do we really need to be rushing rift-kicking ?
I'll chime in because this is a thing that Hazō has known for his whole life and the players are in fact aware of although it's been literal years: don't forget that simply tracing over written material allows Hazō to store it in the Iron Nerve and then re-draw it later. I'm not sure this is specifically relevant in this case, but figured I'm mention it.

Time travel runes haven't been invented on this Path and don't work backwards. (Yet.)

Unless the QMs know stuff we don't...
Doh. The 28th, not the 21st. Fixed.

@eaglejarl @Paperclipped @Velorien ; a while back, we voted in the following training plan to spend Kei's Yamanaka XP. It doesn't appear to have been implemented.
This. Also Kei/Snowflake won't have the combo stunts for shadow visage, while there's some speculation that Shadow Step stuntlessly combines with Substitution.

[X] Training Plan (Kei & Snowflake): Shadow Step
Shadow Step 20 -> 28 [98 Yamanaka XP]
1 Yamanaka XP remaining
[Vote count omitted since it doesn't seem to display properly.]

Voting is closed.
Could this be fixed, please?

On a related note, since she has the XP and I don't think there's anything dramatic she could spend it on:

[X] Training Plan Kei: Just Another RW Level
Ranged Weapons 57 -> 58 [58 XP]

"You are no fun at all, you know that?" Tsunade growled.

"I believe we have long decided that my role on the team was to be the sensible one. You come up with wild ideas, Jiraiya runs with it and causes trouble, I tell you that this is unwise, you ignore me and escalate the conflict, and I clean up the mess."
... Orochimaru was the reasonable one?

Essies...

Biosealing Stunt Header

Hazou has spent over 500 hours of subjective time reading through a collection of Orochimaru and Jiraiya's forays into biosealing in order to grasp the various sealing insights contained within. However, now that Hazou has acquired level 10 in Medical Knowledge, he understands a bit more about the notes.

Specifically, he has a general sense of what biosealing is, and of how hard it would be to learn to replicate some of the things that Orochimaru and Jiraiya are doing in these projects. We're releasing the stunt header for Biosealer, which unlocks the ability to create seals on living creatures.
@eaglejarl @Velorien @Paperclipped

Was Jiraiya a biosealer (of at least minimal skill) as was written here, or is this no longer accurate?

[X] Training Plan Kei: Just Another RW Level

What do we want to get for Noburi? WDB 39? More Pain Suppression? More Alertness?
Hmm. The only benefit of Pain Suppression 20 over 10 is that it works on Severes, and we can't get it to 20 before the fight anyway - but it's pyramid support, and in the long term it might be useful to have him know it. WDB 39 is only one extra level, but it's cheap so we could do it in combination with e.g. another level of Alertness ... but we will need another 20 to raise HM to 30 to raise WDB to 40 to raise Ath to 50, so maybe it's better to make progress on that?

On reflection, I think it's better to take Alt and WDB. We'll have to do all these things eventually anyway, we may as well do the thing that gets us the most immediate benefit now.

[X] Training Plan Noburi: Draconic Awareness
Alertness 42 -> 43 [43 XP]
Water Dragon Bullet 38 -> 39 [19.5 XP]

PSA: Unstagnations have happened
  • Hazō unstagnated his Sealing domain by completing the Remote Explosiver Rune (properly named the 'Remote Explosive 2.0 Rune' but that's not as funny)
  • Kei unstagnated her Combat domain by doing some offscreen missions for the Pangolins
  • Kei unstagnated her Leadership domain as part of those offscreen missions for the Pangolins
  • Noburi unstagnated his Medical domain by completing the 'can a Wakahisa use the Shadow Clone jutsu' research
General question - did Kei's Leadership unstagnation get implemented? Was she just that stagnant that she's still Leadership-stagnant now even after removing a barrier?

"There's a technique hacker in Cloud that I've had my eye on for a while," Jiraiya said, blinking back to the present moment. "He's been working on an interesting project. A speed technique, lets you move extremely fast and surrounds you in a lightning aura that cuts through Earth-based defenses. He crawled into a hole two months ago to work on it undisturbed, but I remember seeing his name on an intelligence report before we left on the last mission. If he's moving around again then he's finished the technique. Stealing it would be a heck of a win."

"He in Cloud proper?" Tsunade asked, setting her cup down and turning to face Jiraiya.

"He was as of a week ago. Visiting the fleshpots, you know?"

Imagine if we had this kind of intelligence, now... we'd be absolutely monstrous >:3

[X] Training Plan Noburi: None, Save for FP Buys
[X] Training Plan Kei: None, Save for FP Buys

It isn't immediately obvious to me that this is valuable as they aren't going to be meaningfully involved in the upcoming conflicts unless something goes terribly wrong; however, the marginal value of being able to buy FP is probably greater than the marginal value of the extra point or two.

[X] Training Plan Noburi: None, Save for FP Buys
[X] Training Plan Kei: None, Save for FP Buys

This is a good point - I'd honestly completely forgotten buying FP was a possibility, and if we decide it's not needed we can always enact the training plans right before the conflict.

[X] Action Plan: Lunar Eclipse
Word Count: <399
Intended Duration: Until the assault on Moon
  • Bury the practice RER 2.0s
  • Declare (1FP): Hazou advised Naruto to order Leaf Summoners to train CR and get the favor of their Summons, maximizing the chance of them summoning their Boss
  • Concur with Orochimaru's plan.
    • Request his note for rift-runes, or accommodations for accessing them if he's incapacitated.
  • Travel to the rally point and wait for Leaf. Sanity-check the rest of the plan.
    • If Orochimaru asks about Kagome, tell him that Kagome couldn't bear to be in close proximity to Orochimaru for an extended period of time, he's gone until after the battle.
    • Recruit Dogs
      • Reverse-summon to visit Dogs that might agree to join the Riftwar. (Optimize with the team.)
        • Be respectful. Be mindful we're nothing like Kakashi.
        • Emphasize the fight's importance. Note our service to Dog (message running) despite our war.
        • Accept any refusals gracefully.
      • Prepare runic blanks for the assualts, we'll need Force Domes, Iron Earth, Air Leadeners, Ninja Radars
        • Prepare a Superchiller blank in secret
      • Grind runic veterancy with any additional chakra. Prioritize reducing timeladdered ES checks until there is no need for rerolls on RER 2.0, then infusions for Force Dome, Ninja Radar and RER 2.0 - ideally to the point where they can be timeladdered up once.
        • Bury any practice runes
        • Test how much earth the chakra pillar from a Force Dome can pierce.
  • After Leaf arrives
    • Discuss the attack plans on Moon with Tsunade, Orochimaru, and Mari
      • Brief her on Hazou's runic capabilities
        • If Mari agrees, bring up her ability to lock down multiple ninja with her genjutsu
      • Based on the size of Leaf's forces and the available chakra, come up with an optimized plan for the battle.
      • Ideally we'd lock down their village with a Force Dome/Iron Earth rune, then send in refilled SCs of the three of you to capture their ninja. While tracking and neutralizing any runners with a perimeter of Ninja Radar runes.
      • Suggest that if we attack anonymously or as a false flag we could avoid having to kill them all to silence them for fear of AMITY counterstrike afterwards.
  • Head to Moon and attack.
I would like to reiterate my request that we ask Orochimaru for any updated information on the Akatsuki, or any information he may have been reluctant to share earlier. Asking him who came to apprehend him and what condition he left them in is a good starting place, as well as his assessment of Sasori's ability to rebuild his puppet army while managing other projects.

Ditto a more detailed description of the 'fortress' and whatever logistical materials may have begun to move into it.

I'm voicing some concern about the second-to-last bullet point. Is there a reason we're suggesting it other than a reluctance to kill them all? I get this on a gut level and it may play with Tsunade, but I'd rather not be the first one at the table to make bleeding-heart suggestions. It adds a complicating factor to the plan without improving its likelihood of success. Gating it behind 'if someone balks at mass murder' would satisfy me in this regard.

I also don't like the words 'couldn't bear'. They're very emotional and suggest instability. I worry that Orochimaru may take action to ensure secrecy is maintained. 'If Kagome's absence is noted, he opted to go to ground - he knows he's not a useful combatant. If pressed, acknowledge he's afraid of Orochimaru.'

(I'm already voting for the plan although my support is not (currently) predicated on the adoption of either suggestion.)

Seconding these thoughts.

I think that anything that doesn't actively change our plan in a way that Hazoupilot cannot himself reasonably account for should be elided.

Murderers and Malicous Miscommunications New
.......that unknown ritual is scary, and I'd much rather try Uplift's strategy, but I'm not sure why the playerbase seems so sure whe have the moral high ground over Nagato. Or that Nagato is so monsterous and unreasonable that any sacrifice is justified if it's in the name of thwarting him.

Murderers and Malicous Miscommunications

(Scene: Hazou while searching for Jiraiya in the afterlife spots Nagato approaching the Rift)

Hazou: "Stop right there, Akatsuki scum! I won't allow you to reenter the Human Path to complete your monstrous ritual!"

Nagato: "Monstrous? What do you think I was attempting to do?"

Hazou: "You were going to subjugate all of humanity under your tyrannical rule, obviously."

Nagato: "What? Of course not: I was going to connect all humans' minds, ninja and civilians alike, into a network that anyone could access on their own volition. With perfect empathy and voluntary telepathy people would be better able to connect with one another not just as neighbors but as friends across all international borders too. We need that level of coordination to stop the destruction of humanity itself."

Hazou: "Yes, well, if those justifications were entirely reasonable why did you kidnap the jinchuuriki? That was definitely a horrible action."

Nagato: "I tried diplomacy initially, but I soon learned esoteric, malevolent outside forces were acting against me. I could not afford to waste time and I needed as much chakra as possible in a short amount of time, so as a utilitarian I decided that nine lives were worth less than at least one village's entire ninja population."

Hazou: "...That does sound pragmatic, but it doesn't matter: you allied yourself with mass murderers in order to achieve your dream!"

Nagato: "Regrettable, I assure you, yet I had no choice: as strong as I was I still needed capable allies to ensure my plan reached fruition fast enough to unite the people to resist the influence of the forces beyond the barriers. Hidan, as selfless as he was even with his functional immortality, opted to directly contest the entity known as Jashin's will by taking on all of Jashin's blood-lust in order to divert that bloodshed from affecting the ritual's preparations. Yes, hundreds, perhaps even thousands of people died, but an unconstrained Jashin and his ilk would lead to the eventual ruin of human civilization. Even as I knew my ritual was doomed to failure I gave my life for my compatriots in the hopes that they would find a way to contain the multiple entities threatening the longevity of humanity itself. Tell me: how successful have my friends been in that regard? Have they either infiltrated or assumed direct control over the Elemental Nations? Shouldn't they be looking for me here too if you, a... chunin? I have never met before are capable of reaching me?"

Hazou: "Uh..."

Nagato: "...Did none of this information reach the Elemental Nations after my death? Well, I suppose your opinion of me and my organization must be... low... if you consider us "scum". Hidan was originally in charge of public relations before his assimilation with Jashin given his ability to keep diplomatic channels open even when people tried to enthusiastically murder him. Perhaps Jashin overwhelmed him and all of his thoughts turned to bloodshed..? No matter: as long as no one else has embraced Jashin the entity should not be able to influence ignorant people on the Human Path for a time."

Hazou: "Er..."

Nagato: "If someone were foolish enough to embrace Jashin they would find themselves justifying large scale atrocities in order to advance their, but ultimately its, goals. Have you experienced any inclinations to wipe out large numbers of people who have never personally wronged you or yours? There may still be time to save y-"

Yuno: "HAZOU! GET AWAY FROM HIM! HE WAS A TALENTED ENOUGH ORATOR TO COMPROMISE AND RECRUIT MULTIPLE S-RANK NINJA! HE IS DANGEROUS EVEN WITHOUT CHAKRA! STOP TALKING WITH HIM BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!"

Hazou: "You are absolutely right Yuno, thank you. Enjoy your stay in the afterlife, Nagato: you will never leave to threaten the Human Path again."

*after ditching and somehow ensuring Nagato can never cross the Rift*

Yuno, whispering in prayer: "As you willed it so it has been done, my lord."

Worst case suggest that kagome is preparing seals / doing research for what comes after. Because he probably is - just not necessarily in the direction one would assume.

Edit: Actually never mind. I have no confidence that poor Hazou could win what will likely be a barrage of deception empathy checks. So let's not.

Hi all,

Crazy low on spoons at the moment, but if any of you are willing to put in a bullet to the effect of "always refer to Superchiller Runes as Project Twilight henceforth," please feel free to ping me and I'll vote for your plan!

That little bit of OPSEC is pretty important to me, and I'm willing to pledge my vote on it.
