I'm not too worried about this part personally - sealing research doesn't actually need chakra for the SCs and Itachi doesn't know Hazou knows Primordial Sealing, or that it needs a lot of chakra to perform. He has no real reason to expect the researching part to need Noburi, I think his first thought would more likely be about SC training if he thinks about it at all. More likely IMO he just views Noburi as yet more leverage on Hazou like the others.

Shadow Clone research for sealing makes more sense than training. Itachi would think that Hazou can make a bunch of SC's for research, they only need to draw and infuse seals under completely normal circumstances.

He knows nothing about 3D Runes details.

Also Summoning.

Shadow Clones are not a training teachnique.

On one hand: Naruto failed at the one task he had, and it was a task he had full confidence he could achieve.

On the other hand: the only other option was to go missing right then and there, which would have led to months of being chased by Leaf and the Akatsuki. This way, if nothing else, we were able to buy several weeks' worth of difficulty checks without needing to worry about hunter nin or the Akatsuki.

Sure, it sucks (like, really, really sucks) that Naruto folded the first time the Akatsuki knocked on his door, but we have a few leads on some possible WMDs (superchillers, if nothing else), and DoB to provide a notable boost to our PS stat.

We're under a time crunch, but it's not an impossible feat. We just can't bounce around like we have been. We need to pick a path and go for it.

To that end, I submit to you, in the following order of preference.
  1. We do research on Superchillers (backup plan, let's get it going)
  2. Magnifying Glass Rune (attack)
  3. We do research on the Ninja Radar (gives us time to activate buffs/runes)
  4. Mirror Dragon (reflects ninjutsu)
  5. Icarus Rune (blocks skywalkers, not RRBs, already started)
  6. Banshee Fuckers (debuffs)
  7. Air Leadening (defends against taijutsu and melee weapons)

I am in complete agreement with you to be clear. My point was I don't think he has any reason to think about Noburi being important for Hazou's research, I think snow is just a bit biased by being so involved in the process.

Hazou does not need to refill for normal sealing SC research

KEI: Imagine being re-exposed to your worst trauma of your entire life!

HAZOU, WHO RE-EXPOSES HIMSELF TO HIS WORST TRAUMA EVERY DAY FOR INCREASED SEALING PROWESS: go on...

There is a vast and unbridgeable gap between the clan head who surrenders their seat before departing on a mission from which they do not expect to return, as Kani Mukan did, and one who abandons their people even in the knowledge that they are about to be placed in danger–much less when they are the indirect cause of that danger."
That just means that, when we get back to Leaf (if we survive/win, ofc), we buy our way back into the Goketsu Clan with RRBs, Force Claws, CATEARS, Runecrafting, Minatosealing, two Summoning Scrolls, and whatever other goodies we discover along the way.

Sure, we won't be able to be the Clan Head anymore, but whatever. We weren't a very good one to begin with.

Or we'll remain clanless and be KEI ninja. Anything we want money for, we can print via ES-sourced gemstones or iron ore. And, even if we're political poison, we'll still have people falling under themselves to get training or mentorship from us. Kakashi could read porn in public, Gai was able to wear spandex and shout about his heathen religion from the rooftops, and Ritsuo is able to be a blatant bigot with multiple political whiffs to his name. Not to mention the fact that Orochimaru is openly bribed via a never ending stream of human test subjects to stay in Leaf and not cause harm.

Really, Hazou and the rest of Team Uplift will just be other insane ninja "with a bad case of jonin."

Where should we go and where should we meet up...? Should we just meet at the chakra water cave once Noburi has confirmed they made it out? Or should we meet and then go? I want his help studying it but don't want to be there any longer than we have to

Isn't that in Wind, where the Akatsuki have a huge presence?

We could meet over in Neck or wherever. We know that Naruto is going to send Leaf's hunter nin to the Bay, then to Iron, and only send them "east" after a few months. By heading over to Neck, we'll avoid seeing Leaf Hunter Nin. We might even be able to lay a false trail while we're there. Make it seem like we're heading to Snow when we're really heading to... idk, Rock, or something.

Imagine reading this scene, though.

HARU: "Why should I let you back into the clan? You abandoned us once, already."

HAZOU: [drops stack after stack of Platinum Loot]

HARU: "...point. Welcome back."

They have a presence is Sand, which is by the coast. I find it ridiculously implausible they have agents covering the entire desert.

I find it impossible that the QMs won't find a way to mess with us over this, but fair enough. I'm down. Meet up over in Neck, sprint to Wind, take readings, study for a few days, then go over them in... idk, Fang?

Hazo: SNOWFLAKE, BEFORE MY MEAT BRAIN HAD EVEN HEARD OF THE SHADOW CLONE TECHNIQUE I WAS ALREADY A FRACTIONAL BEING. MY FINGERS GO TO THEIR DEATHS WITH HOPE IN THEIR HEART.

In retrospect, the worst part about Naruto's plan regarding our research mission, and the part he can very much be blamed for, was making the cover a "research mission". Like, obviously Itachi's very first association was "rift research". How could it have been otherwise? I'd assumed Naruto had thought of some clever way to dispel Itachi's inevitable immediate suspicions, which is why he went with this idea anyway. But, well, clearly not.

I recall some other ideas were suggested and turned down, but I think the practice showed that it really was the worst idea. If it were something more generic, like "oh he's hunting another Scroll" with some indirect evidence of that thrown in, that might've been more plausible. At the very least, Itachi would've had less justification for demanding our return, putting Naruto in a better position to refuse him.

I do want to note that we don't have info on the difficulty of the last round of checks yet, would any of them having favorable results adjust your preferences?

Lord Jashin wants more dead Leopards.

Our Lord is truly merciful!
Hey, at least we can explore relatively-sincere Jashinism now that we're missing, again.

Let's get down to business and put our faith in lord Jashin

Yes... Save, perhaps, for Superchillers being at number one.

We were told that "WMDs are a requirement to win, but will not earn us the win, on their own." Right now, we have no WMDs, and that makes me uncomfortable.

Theoretically "anything is possible with sealing". But in practice the stuff that would require us to really bump up the CGI budget or recontract all those famous actors for a few hundred more chapters takes some effort.
Yeah. I don't think we'll be getting time travel anytime soon. I was more surprised by Kagome mentioning the Kamimoot. Maybe there's something to Kamehameha's theory after all.

Rune idea: combination air dome and slow superchiller.
Ooh, I like it.

@RandomOTP, what do you think of the restricted-superchillers? IMO they seem worth doing a check on.

I strongly doubt it will be Konan, especially since there's really no telling that it will only take a week. My expectation is Itachi/Hidan, though I'm unsure how much patience Itachi has to run around after us. I'll bet Hidan finds it fun though
Hidan and Itachi, two hours after setting out
H: OK Itachi, we're stopping here for a bit.
I: WTF? Why?
H: It's time for my prayers.
I: OK whatever, don't take too long.
Two hours later
H: We're stopping again.
I: Now what is it?
H: I need to pray again. Gotta keep up the regular prayers to Jashin.
I: Why did I partner up with him again?

"This is it. Either we complete Operation Twilight and are welcomed back to Leaf as heroes or we die at Akatsuki's hands before we can. For those of us who refuse to accept a future determined by Pain, there is no third option.
I'm not sure why, but this phrasing makes me think that the QMs kind of intended us to go along with Pain.

"He cannot be blamed," Kei interjected. "This part of the plan hinged on forcing him to face his personal nemesis, the man who stripped him of his power and doubtless tortured him in unimaginable ways in the process of preparing him for a uniquely agonising death that would use him as a tool for his loved ones' doom. A man, furthermore, with extensive experience practising psychic domination of other S-rankers with the aid of a Bloodline Limit ideally suited to the task. Your worst encounters with Orochimaru would be a luxurious soak in the hot springs by comparison. That the Eighth was able to stand firm and follow the plan at all is an achievement to be respected rather than a failure to excel."
She has a point, but still. S-rank ninja trained from birth to be Hokage immediately folds to a shadow clone, without said clone even using genjutsu. That's just sad.

Snowflake's eyes narrowed. "Yes, of course. Why not create and destroy a few unique divergent perspectives for the purpose of trivial manual labour that you expect to accomplish nothing?"
They're the same person, congnitively speaking, and their memories live on in Prime, and could even have been generated by him. I fail to see the problem here. Snowflake needs to calm down.

I know we both read that MoL fanfic.
Wait, which MoL fanfic?

Edit:
[x] Interlude: The Rest of the Gouketsu Go Missing Again

BTW, what happens if the QMs don't want to do an interlude but there are no action plans available?
