I perceive a balance in my head about game balance here. On the left, you have "Think for Yourselves, Players". On the right you have "Rational Simulation + Do Whatever is Optimal". We will naturally tend to the right because that's optimal. The experts will usually be smarter than us when it comes to details or socials because they live in that world 24/7 and we don't - that's their field of strength, not ours. Also, Kei is just straight up smarter than us, and is written by QMs who are really flippin' smart. That said, if we keep using Ask an Expert, things will change so we can't do this as much because that's not fun. Eventually we'll be forced left side of this scale. Currently I feel like we didn't talk to Kei in so long about anything story-changing. We stayed really heavily on the left side of the scale meta-wise with her. Frustrated, Kei says "Use Me!" When we talk to her, she gives a wholeeeee bunch of free information about what'll happen with necromancy. This pushes things back to the right side of scale to incentivize us to use "Ask an Expert" again. If we do that too much, though...
Then we make it numerical. Someone make a spreadsheet keeping track of our interactions update by update, sorting each family member's into the main categories of 'work/play', then into sub-categories of 'positive/negative/treason' and we can consult it when making plans.

should we have daily 5 minute standups with Kei covering everything we're planning to do this day 😅 🤔

just open the firehose even if most of the stuff she's unlikely to care about

I would pay XP in order to get a summary from the QMs on what meaningful secrets we're keeping from each family member.
A solution that might avoid the "ask everyone for permission to do anything" annoyance is to have Action Plans that last a week IC, with a Goketsu Council at the beginning where we talk about what we're planning to do and gather input. With any luck, most meetings would be summarized as just "Everyone agreed it was a good plan and got to work", but likely not.

I made an edit of Hazo's sheet that visually shows the skill pyramid in another tab. Had to edit some of the named ranges, it looks like a couple of them were doubled up.

I definitely don't think we should assume we can resurrect anyone, regardless of when they died. The information in the latest chapter about the pure lands, specifically as it exists as a sort of purgatory before people move on to their true afterlife, read to me as an extremely plausible way to allow us to get back Jiraiya without making death essentially meaningless. Jiraiya is an individual who we have been shown is putting in extreme effort to retain their 'earthly bonds' aka memories, and is still failing given he failed to mention Kagome in his listing of important people when we were shown the vision of him. You know, the guy whom he named his suicide technique after?

But yeah, this info read to me as an explanation that we have access to people who relatively recently passed, who have strong motivation to resist moving on, and have strong willpower. I would not take it as a given that others beyond Jiraiya are possible to bring back at this time, and would not plan accordingly.

What can we do to make timeskipping more likely?
From my personal perspective, do things that require time. If a plan can be concluded in X amount of time, then X amount of time is how long it will take. Timeskips take away opportunities. On reflection, this update should cover a little longer, since you dedicated time to following up on the effects of the sealing failure, so I'll extend its timespan to 3 days.

Edit: You should probably recalculate SC XP accordingly. I'll need to discuss with the other QMs who is and isn't getting it.

Hashirama's history never shows any concern with non-ninja

I will note Hashirama straight-up killed a ninja for violence against a non-ninja, and is a fundamental reason Leaf is better about it than other villages (even if that approach is still much lesser than Isan's society (in this specific regard at least)). But based on the little bit we've seen, I think Hashirama and us would have lovely interesting chats. It's Tobirama who would end up killing us for being idiots.

[X] Training plan Hazou: Calligraphy

Also shouldn't Akane be getting notes XP? We were specifically told she can use her clones to read notes without messing up OPSEC.

[X] Action Plan: Tutorships and Trials
Words: 141
  • Sanity check with Kei and Mari (under opsec conditions)
  • FOOM
    • Does everyone need to stop FOOMing, or just Akane?
    • Is there any way we can continue (in a more "normal" amount?), or is it too much of a risk?
    • Do as is suggested.
  • If Noburi and Akane are interested in an apprenticeship with Tsunade, meet with Asuma to make it happen.
    • Follow Mari/Kei's advice.
  • Work on making the new estate awesome
    • Koi ponds, gardens, Jiraiya Gate Statue, much better apartments than last time, and make Kei's room to her specifications.
    • Ask Snowflake, Crystal, Winterlight, Scalpel, etc, if they want a room/for their preferences.
  • Misc
    • Visit Mareo, bring gift basket. Chill, talk about family (maintain opsec where necessary).
    • Tutor Harumitsu, introduce to wider Goketsu family (to give him a social support network outside of the Hagoromo)
    • Work on Minato's Seals

She has been getting notes XP.

Speaking of which:
Hazou notes XP: 3 * 3 * 4 = 36
  • Orochimaru's Sealing notes #3: S:2, B:133, R:15
Akane notes XP: 3 * 3 * 4 = 36 (MedNin) + 3 * 3 * 4 = 36 (MedKnow)
  • Orochimaru's MedKnow notes #3: S: 0, B: 36, R: 39
  • Orochimaru's MedNin notes #2: S: 0, B: 100, R: 0
  • Orochimaru's MedNin notes #3: S: 0, B: 11, R: 64
Noburi notes XP: 3 * 3 = 9
  • Orochimaru's MedKnow notes #3: S: 0, B: 75, R: 25

Accordingly,
[X] Noburi Training: Big Moves
Chakra Reserves 36 -> 40 (308 XP)
Save 18 XP
Mednin 29 -> 32 (93 Notes XP)
MedKnow 33 -> 35 (69 Notes XP)

We should ask Kagome if he thinks it'll close like normal after we open it. If so, this becomes fairly straightforward - we just have to wait. There are some associated problems but I think we can solve them all pretty easily, especially if we have enough Mednin/know to keep people unconscious for a few days.
The big question imo is, well, sealing sweatshop. If Hazou is the only person who can create a seal that re-opens the rift, and sufficient incentive is found to make sure he creates those seals for *gestures vaguely* Leaf, AMITY, Akatsuki, whoever, Hazou will be forced to make those seals. If that happens, being able to close the rift means nothing.

Unless we can close the rift for real, eliminating even the rift scar such that re-opening it would be beyond even us. Then we could threaten to go through with it and cut off the Pure Lands forever if they move against us, which would probably work until they decide that Hazou can probably invent a seal that opens a new rift from scratch.

(They have the perfect leverage to get us to cooperate. If they kill one of our loved ones, what are we gonna do, just let them rot in the Pure Lands? We've already showed how we respond to that, and they can 100% count on us doing it again if needbe.)

The only solution, I feel, is ensuring we remain in control in the first place. If the rest of the world gets to know about the rift and our rift-opening seal at all, we have to be in a position where they can't take it from us. Because they will, and no amount of rift-closing will stop them from getting what they want.
