You misread what I was saying.

Rotwood doesn't know about Bill, so you insinuating that I said that is putting words into my mouth.
It was a good faith misinterpretation of what you said. Do you HAVE to pick a fight over it?

At this point I'm not commenting on plans, I'm just answering the question.

@TheGleeman makes a good point. You can't treat this like a board game with only one winner at the end.

I just consider this line of thinking rather hypocritical, considering that it´s primarly uttered by those accusing us of "opening up too many fronts", when exactly this idea of "the others are all our competitors, therefore we must not cooperate with them" will cause us to get ground to dust between too many fronts.

Actually, in terms of easy Stewardship actions, have we considered buying out Hopper next turn, just because I have a feeling that's one of those "crit-success=new hero units" one?

I did consider buying out Hopper to capitalize on our strong food foothold , before SOMEONE messed up things by eating a certain one-of-a-kind Sandwich, yes

Right now though, I would prefer WynndCom because of the implicit time-sensitiveness of its aviability.

You know, have we ever crit on recruiting a person? I can't recall ever doing so.
...I don't think so. We got Russ because we critted when talking to the government about an observer, and we got Technor because we critted when recruiting super villains back near the start of the drug quest, but I'm fairly sure we've never critted in recruiting specific people.

Michigan. A villain I've never heard of has somehow made the auto industry an even bigger deal.
I'm in Western Washingon. I'm... well honestly not sure how much has changed apart from there being anthropomorphic animals everywhere. The police force is probably bought out/corrupt and the person in charge is a drug dealing racist presumably oppressing minorities... and holy shit that just got too real.

...With my idea we won´t be competing with anyone all that much - quite the opposite, in fact.

I really doubt the government would see it that way.

@TheGleeman makes a good point. You can't treat this like a board game with only one winner at the end.

Then we should expand like crazy instead? Because it's impossible that we would be able to have a strong presence in Space, The Grid, Others Dimensions and Earth. It's just impossible we don't have enough actions for all of that. We also don't even have enough Learning actions to dedicate to go to Space unless we start alternating between AI/Genetics and Space.

2 turns we dedicate to Space are 2 Learning actions on AI/Genetics that we won't advance, however our competitors would, and not investing 1 action like we would be doing but 2, because they monofocus on things instead of spreading thin as we're already doing.

We have a lot of space tech either already researched or as low hanging fruit.

No, we have the absolute bare minimum necessary. Sublight drive is only good to go to planets from our Solar System, Uburnium is the standard space combustible, the translator is, again, standard space equipment and necessary if we want to communicate with anyone there, same with the decryption thing.

There're more ways to take advantage of our tech than just using it to go to space, for example, selling it to the feds in exchange for their (already investigated) tech. Like their Cloaking Tech that is mentioned to be on par with the GalFed Cloaking Tech.

I just consider this line of thinking rather hypocritical, considering that it´s primarly uttered by those accusing us of "opening up too many fronts", when exactly this idea of "the others are all our competitors, therefore we must not cooperate with them" will cause us to get ground to dust between too many fronts.

... I don't get it. So your solution to "we're open on too many fronts" is "let's collaborate in opening up a new front more"? How does that even make sense??

We should really focus on low hanging DC next turn or at least ones with a very high chance of success

I really doubt the government would see it that way.

Considering the fact that they are (in the process of) getting puppeted by Xanatos - who has been rather open to at least consider our input -, I consider that a secondary concern at best.

I really don´t get your open hostility to any scientific endeavours not falling under either AI/Genetics or your insistence, that we have to commit to either your path or mine at the complete exclusion of the other side.

... I don't get it. So your solution to "we're open on too many fronts" is "let's collaborate in opening up a new front more"? How does that even make sense??

No, I am saying that your insistence to only focus on some select fields of power and seeing any other King irrevocably as an enemy will cause us to starve of avenues while needlessly making enemies.

Anyways, continuing what I was saying, Rotwood and the Glooms might actually pair together rather well, with the Glooms having less focused knowledge of Magical Creatures but still some as well as the ability to do things like make potions out of them, and Rotwood offering exceptional expertise of various magical creatures, suggesting things that the Glooms might have never thought of.

Edit: Imagine Jumba and Rotwood working together.

Because I want to go to space. I want to win the space race. That simple.
If you want to be prosaic about it, though, the government will likely have bounties, awards, funding. I personally want to compete with the Feds, not allow them to have a win, because we as a tinpot dictator have an interest in small government, but cooperating with them on this would have good rewards.

I don't think that we can win it like this, mainly because we are still considered as part of US. Think if for example Elon Mask claimed that he beat NASA and America in space race. Absolute majority will think about it as PR boast. He can reach moon but it still be on government money, done using NASA engineers and American workers. For government it will be very easy to claim major part of our achievement for themselves. As things stands if we want to win space race and made whole world marvel we need to use something entirely different. For example biotechnology. So if we are making plans for reaching space, I propose something like this.

1)Make Jumba study mythological creatures.
2)Complete giant creatures with weapon platforms study.
3)Create giant flying mythological creature.
4)Study superpowers so it can reach escape velocity.
4) Advance environment adaptations till the point that they can go to space.

End result I think is something like Chinese dragon with constructed metal rings around torso with weapon and habitation platforms on them. Or any other mythological creature that we deem appropriate for space travel.

"So, what's this one do?" You asked, pointing at an arcane array of bits and bobs, wires, conduits, steel plates, and a pair of fuzzy dice.

"That's the Probabilitor-Inator, it makes things more or less probable," Doof replied, keeping an eye on you before his eyes glazed over with a far away look.

AWARENESS CHECK PASSED

You recognized the look by now, it wasn't the boss' backstory gaze. Nor was it what he called "Expositional flashback." This was his "How do I make the world better" look. He probably didn't call it that in his head, but you knew that was what it was all the same. After all, it was the same look he had on his face on the roof.

"So, it makes things happen, no matter how unlikely?" You asked, still staring at your Inator. You didn't call him on his inattention, or the quality of his look. He liked to think he was a big bad evil scientist, and you did too, at first. But he wasn't. Everything Doof had done since you got here was aimed at helping people. Even his beef with Judge Doom was only because your boss thought toons were people and the judge (wasn't he mayor though? why was he still calling himself judge?) was murdering Toons.

Doof was definitely a mad scientist. But, you guess it took someone mad to believe in you, to help you.

He thought he was evil, but really, he was the few good people left.

If he wanted to pretend to be a bad guy? You definitely weren't going to ruin his fun.

"What? No!" Doof replied. He was clearly shocked but you had no idea what you'd said to shock him.

"This makes things more or less probable! It doesn't make things more or less probable! The emphasis is important!"

You have to admit to yourself that you have no idea what the difference between those two exactly identical sentences was. Luckily, teh boss wasn't done explaining.

"What this machine does is it concentrates the positive and negative probability ions in the air and intensifies their attraction to others of their own kind! Things that are probable will be more probable, and things that are improbable will be less probable."

So, it made likely things sure bets instead? That was...

Doof wasn't done explaining. "So lets say you wanted to eat a sandwich? It's pretty probable that you could find a sandwich here in Doofania. There are plenty of restaurants, and groceries stores and even *shudder* Vending machines..."

"Did you just say the word Shudder?" You interrupted. He did! You definitely heard it! He said the word shudder instead of actually shuddering! Was he actually afraid of vending machines? Or was he just pretending? You knew the boss cared about you. Hell, he seemed to care about everyone! But even knowing that? He was kind of hard to figure out. For a second, you wondered if it was your fault. That maybe the way your family betrayed you broke you inside. Maybe the reason you couldn't understand your boss was because you weren't a good person, and you never could be?

Your boss' voice interrupted that train of thought before it could take hold with something about... sandwiches? Why was he... Oh! That magical sandwich he bought!

"So you heard about Dennis and 625 eating your magical sandwich then?" you asked.

"They what!?" he shouted, outraged.

Clearly that was not what he was talking about then. But...

SELF CONTROL CHECK FAILED

He was distracted, and the big red button was unguarded. The machine made things that were likely to happen sure bets. You were pretty likely to encounter Marco, but pretty likely wasn't a sure thing...

STEALTH CHECK PASSED

"Dennis was supposed to unravel its arcane mysteries, not eat it!!!" your boss ranted, clearly not aware of your intentions.

You slipped past him as he threw his head back for a stereotypical supervillain rant and pressed the button on the machine. The fuzzy dice began to roll, which was odd, because they were clearly still tied together on the string attached to the machine. Their faces were changing though. were they Magic? The boss clearly knew about magic, but you still had no idea how much. Was he even a mad scientist at all? or was he a crazy magician pretending to be a mad scientist? Was there even really a distinction between the two?

SELF CONTROL CHECK PASSED

Now was not the time to get lost in thought about how weird your boss was. Now was the time to flee the scene!

You dashed out the room at top speed. Hopefully he wouldn't hold this against you? The boss was kind of touch, but you needed the extra luck to make sure you found Marco. He'd understand if you told him that.

COMMUNICATION CHECK FAILED

"Sorry boss! Gotta go find Marco! Have a Sandwich for me!"

Have a sandwich? That was your best attempt at explaining why you pressed the button on the boss' super fancy mad science machine!?

Doofenshmirtz Loyalty Check:
DC = 75 - 75 = 0
Roll: 60
Critical Success!

"CURSE YOU JANNA, THE TEENAGE GIRL!" The boss shouted back hammily. You'd seen the boss angry, he got serious when he was angry. The words sounded mean, but... Petty vengeance for him was all in good fun. He wasn't mad at you at all.

It was a good thing you were already running. There was no way you hide the tears in your eyes otherwise.

Janna's Stress Decreased By One Level. Stress now at "Be More Chill"
Probabilitor-Inator Activated!
All actions next turn are Maximized! Every success is a critical success! Every failure is a critical failure! This applies to all characters in the quest.

Damn it! Every time I think I'm safe the emotional gut punches come again! How the hell did "CURSE YOU JANNA, THE TEENAGE GIRL!" start to sound like "I love you"? Doof really is the best dad.

If GER keeps putting out stuff like this I might need to change my name to happy dog. I'm glad we failed that self Control check. Sure it probably won't do much, but now we're sure to find Marco, right? Right!?

What.

What!?

Holy shit! How powerful is Doofenshmirtz anyway! He just modified the dice rolls for the entire world!

In Phineas and Ferb he built an Inator once that bent space time so that he could launch himself to eastern Europe in a catapult. It did this by warping the universe so that Drusselstein (the place he was visiting in Eastern Europe) was directly above Danville. Basically, if you're asking "can Doof build an Inator to do X?" The answer is always yes. At least in canon. I thought the rules were different in JannaQuest and we got a nerfed version of Doof.

Clearly, I thought wrong.

So... he's not a Mad Scientist, or a wizard (and can I say that that was a cool shout out by GER to the thread discussion right there?) He's a God. He's Haruhi, but with slightly less self delusion.

I want to say no but... basically? In one of the movies he used a "Chicken-Replacinator" to achieve instantaneous faster than light interstellar travel, without a spaceship. So... I mean, he's not a god? But functionally speaking... If Doof wants to do it? He can do it. He'd be so insanely broken as a Quest main character, but he's not, he's a Quest-giving NPC, so it's pretty balanced.

Speaking of which... I decided to write up a Negaverse omake for this. It's my first, so... please be gentle? Link is here.

So... A Negaverse Omake of My Own Omake. Eventually I'll hit pure recursion and disappear in a puff of nothing, but today is not that day!
