You could always write an interlude about the daily life of Innkeeper Hana who lives in a distant village in Snow after she was accosted by Lady Keiko, theatre actor extraordinaire from Bear.

Technically, no one specified that the interlude had to be about our Kurosawa Hana and our Goketsu Keiko.

That would give us far too much actionable intelligence on Bear.

And also require that they come up with actionable intelligence on Bear. :p
 
I think keeping the "Talk to Noburi and Keiko" thing as is is fine.

The intent was that we would do a group brainstorming session after we all independently think about it.

The question I suppose, is if this will lead to someone getting pissy about Hazou not respecting Mari's privacy on the matter?

And, if we care about that?

Oh, we know exactly what's going on in Bear. Feel free to go for a visit--it would make for a refreshing genre shift.

My comment was in regard to clarity rather than intent. If I were writing this update, I wouldn't know what the players wanted, and would probably end up choosing based on my own judgement. I trust I need say no more.

HANA: Cool. Get it? It's a Snow pun. The area we are currently in, in case it wasn't obvious.

KEIKO: Quite.

HANA: Anyway, how are things in Bear? I have heard so many rumors, all of which are truly intriguing.

KEIKO: All those rumors? They are all quite real, trust me. I am just glad I left the country when I could but enough small talk. Maybe I'll tell you more in detail later offscreen.

HANA: I'm sorry. "Offscreen"?

KEIKO: You poor, innocent soul. Offscreen refers to the period of time that we are not being observed and effectively cease to exist until we are relevant again.

HANA: Oh my, that sounds really horrible and is probably going to give me an existential crisis later on when I have more time to think about it.

KEIKO: It's fine, you get used to it after a while. Just avoid being out in the open and/or close to the seas or They will be able to spot us.

HANA: I dread to ask but: "They"?

KEIKO: The voyeuristic flaming birds and sea mammals, obviously.
 
Alas, my brain isnt Shutting Up and Multiplying well on suggesting wording edits to that portion. Oh well.

At least we are giving proper deference to the might of OPSEC COOKIES in this one.
 
So... Mari was pretty blatant about this, to be honest, upon reflection:

I don't think it would take more than a "remember what Mari said back after the liberator camp?" for Keiko and Noburi to put it together.

I'm pretty sure that from the above quote alone Keiko could put together that she killed him, but not the exact context. "Had an uncle," "I kinda panicked", "haven't done that in years."

An argument for invocation of personal aspects outside of social combat:

It seems to me that as a construct, Invocation can be considered a more strict variation on Declarations. As such, they usually provide mechanical benefits. But they can also be used as declarations in the same line of reasoning as the Invoke When part of a personal aspect implies. So when Invoking Open Mouth Insert Foot, it can either be used to provide mechanical benefit, or as a Declaration: That Hazou's painful sincerity melts a cynic's heart

(Ordinarily I'd reject that Declaration out of hand, but Hana, being Hazou's mom, does seem to be uniquely vulnerable to that use of it...

Additionally, it seems possible as something he could have done without the invocation of the aspect.)

On a separate note: I'm not sure there's much point in letting Keiko and Noburi in on the whole... thing... with Mari's uncle, except to keep her from using it as a weapon against them.

As is tradition in MfD, I have changed a minor detail of the plan at the minute before plan closing. May Jashin show us mercy.

e: To whit, it was a clarity change to improve QM understanding of the plan's intention regarding the conversation with Keiko and Noburi.
