Problem: 1m = 10dm = 100cm = 1000mm

Your sheets are 1cm thick, which is precariously thin.

Yeah, accidentally a unit/decimal place. Oopsies. To the recalc mobile:

I do not have an issue with the plan unless we make the granite bits so thin they'll break. I worry that to get the dimensions we want we will have to make the granite bits too thin.

I recognize that I do not know what dimensions we want, and would appreciate clarification on this matter.

Units are given in feet. Charitably lets assume everything is about 4m high. The larger rooms are then 4m x 4m x 3m, more or less. So we have

4*3 *(2) + 4*4 *(4) = 24 + 64 = 88 m^2 of coverage to get to.

Generous: Say 10 rooms. = 880 m^2 of coverage.

Edit:

Super pessimistic: Say 30 rooms. 2,640.

Assume 1 m^3 block of granite. Lets make it 25 times less thick in one direction. 10cm thick in this direction is about 3 inches. Super thick slab still. What does this do to the dimensionality? Lets say we

Length = x
Width=x
Thickness=0.04m = 4cm ~1.5 inches

Want the volume the same.

Solve 0.04x^2 = 1

x^2= 100/4 = 25
x= 5

So each of these sheets has x^2=25 surface area it covers

So one of these (square in this case but it doesnt matter) blocks that are >1.5 inches thick cover 25 m^2 surface area.

Generous case: Takes ~40 of these to do the trick (aportioned into pieces perhaps of varying size)

Super pessimism case: Takes ~120 of these to do the trick (apportioned into pieces perhaps of varying sizes)

Also: Blah blah blah we're tessalating a prebuilt structure so we can't actually spread surface area out like you're doing here off the back of the napkin.

Yeah, I know but this seems a middling concern. We do everything room by room and lash those together.

Tl;dr:

Note we don't have enough 5SB sets to do each room individually anyway

Its unfeasible to 5SB literally every room.It would take either a ridiculous amount of paint or too many storage scrolls. (I think 40 is a bit much, 120 is way too much).

And waaaay too many sets of 5SB.

1)We can easily do a few rooms, strategically speaking.

2)We can easily do the outside walls (should be less of everything by a factor of 4).

We can probably do both (1) and (2)

On the one hand, we are now in the ideal result, and we probably don't need to go through with the massive battle.

On the other hand, I just updated pretty hard on our ability to withstand the massive battle.

Will get back to proper simulation when home - it'll be much more ordered now that some probability trees have collapsed.

Also, the fact that we took out literally every team but Team ISC will give the other teams all the more impetus to follow ISC's lead, simultaneously elevating them for having stayed our assault -- and giving them a damn good excuse in losing out next round.

We should ask Jiraiya if we should try to goad Team Kurenia into taking part in the assault

Would like to know the composition of the last 9 Genin (were any of them among the 'top contender' list) - don't know their abilities in a fairer fight because all 9 got underground 1-shot.

All the other reds won't be competition, unless people decide to abandon simulation expressly to attack us. Wouldn't expect more than 10-20% at worst, and our R1 teammates, dispersed among the other R2 Blue teams, will be their first targets. The potential for reprisal is obvious, so they should already be planning. It would probably be best to softball a reminder to plan by asking "So, everybody has a plan if a team in next round defects against you, right?

Would really like to see ISC expressions/commentary as we're bringing folks in.

Would like to see a strategy session with ISC/co/partners in the post-game clean up, or at least ISC

Would like to see some of the party, and would really love if some of the ?friendly? Mist faces make an appearance

Would like to see the reactions of the first few folks waking up from unconsciousness, and at least the things we can observe of Shikamaru enacting his manipulation.

Will probably think of other things.

Should we not talk about round two in front of the proctor? I'm slightly worried that he might tell contestants (a.k.a. Shin) about what we're planning. We suspect he might have had information from proctors before, right?

We csn just do the air dome thing we did earlier this round.

The proctor already knows we're collaborating with ISC -they're conscious and we're delivering prisoners to them. If he chooses to, he can warn somebody... but then it is up to those he warns to spread the info, and the proctor risks discovery of interference with every person they warn of our collaboration.

We can set up a quick, large air dome to have a semi-private conversation.

Yes. This is likely to be the final version:

0-199 words: +2 XP.
200-399 words: +1 XP.
400+ words: +0 XP.

Additionally, any bonus XP for the above go to a special pool, which may be spent (and may only be spent) on buying FP, at a rate of 10 XP for 1 FP

So then, this isn't actually bonus XP? Is this more correct?:

0-199 words: +0.2 FP
200-399 words: +0.1 FP
400+ words: +0 FP

I'm somewhat concerned that this won't be enough incentive to keep plans short in the long run. ...But then again, this is the MFD playerbase we're talking about, and I probably shouldn't underestimate the optimization power of a horde of rationalist munchkins.

[x] Plan Component: Tell the proctors/Ren about the 50' spiked pit under that one team's base.

[x] Plan Component: (retroactive) Collapse the ground above the 50' spiked pit under that one team's base, so that it's easily visible from the surface.

I do not want the repairmen/builders getting caught in it and getting hurt.

By my reading the building's floor is between the Earth team's underground bunker and the surface. Panache only collapsed the bunker into her pit, not the floor above.

Also, leaving a 50' hole where there used to be a building is a statement.

Strongly support this. What else to discuss with Shikamaru?
  • Brief us on abilities of contestants on other Blue Teams. Collaborate with Keiko, use her observations of their performance in R1 to determine what powerful or esoteric abilities we should watch out for.
  • Shikamaru's plan. Elaborate on it.
    • How he plans to convince SuperTeam Red to follow his strategy, make them trust ISC?
    • There's at least two other cognitively-enhanced bloodline users: Tama Ruri from Team Chinin and Mori Anna from Team Downfall Fallflat. How confident is he that he will be able to socially outmanoeuvre them? Could he compromise their plan, so that it's not too good?
  • Suggest improvements on his plan.
    • Word-halves gambit as incentive.
    • Coordinator-team gambit.
    • Pre-made traps gambit: set up some traps in the forest right now, so that ISC could use them during R2 as they see fit.
    • ???
  • Brief him on our current defence plan, so that he could suggest improvements, or adjust the strategy he will be convincing STR to follow during R2 so that our plan is more efficient.
  • Anything else?
We should exploit the fact that we're playing both sides more.

Obviously we should inform him he should have everyone assault through the clear path through traps we are rules-obligated to have, since going through a sealmasters prepped ground is suicide.

(This is drastically to our benefit, actually.)

Really, our desire to make reasonable, spoon conserving plans for our delightful QMs should be enough incentive - getting FP is a nice bonus.
Agreed. I see no reason we shouldn't keep up as we've been doing with regards to them; it helps player retention and allows people to engage with plans more easily. It's just another form of optimization, however mild.

So I'm confused, what time is it in-story? The update suggests that the round hasn't ended yet ("Of course, removing them from the cells before the end of the round would represent unfair interference with the scoring"), but later discussion and in-story discussion both suggests that the round has ended.

I'm uncomfortable with using painted cloth 5SB. It feels like the kind of thing that would get other people thinking about munchkinry and lead to sky towers for everyone.

@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Bumping for visibility, since this probably will be pretty relevant in the next round.
@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Large-spoons question: Since we took out literally everyone else in the Exams, what were the other teams' composition? As in, who was Red/Blue team, and who was teamed up with who?

I remember that:
  • Team Kurenai, Team Downfall, and Team Kongō were Blue Team 1;
  • Team Asuma were in another Blue Team;
  • <Aina, Reo, Yui, Kotomi, Sara, Touma, Sana, Hatsumomo> were in another Blue Team;
  • <Hideyo, Niko, Miku, Hiroka, Nishikawa, Daiju, Miho, Kisato, Furui, Shibahara> were in another Red Team (and wtf there were 10 people listed, what's going on?);
  • Earth Team <?> were in another Blue team.

Can we ask if ISC can goad Team Downfall / Team Kurenai into leading the charge against us, instead of doing it themselves?

(N>0) hours before the event's end, I think. The rampage ended ~four hours after the start, so our team reported early, and Kages apparently agreed to end the event prematurely, but it's not clear how early. We could decide to retroactively spend part of the remaining ~twenty hours however we see fit. I think, for everything to stay consistent, we could report in as late as one hour until event's end.
