On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

no shoes, no shirt, no permit. Downright shameful of Debra really.
Do the dwarves even have a permitting office for magma shard dragons, though? If not, that's even more shameful- how is a law-abiding dragon supposed to do these things if the dwarves make it impossible to get the forms!?

A gout of lava that licks the bottom of her boots and singes her braids.
One of her braids has come undone
I thought when reading this 'not the hair!'. It is strange in RL i really could care less if was mine because I can just cut it down. This is a way to show how to feel empathy with characters. And this damage was worse to her than the other ones (I think)

About we joking and the dwarfs legal complies of illegal mutants invaders. Dwarf administration/laws are serious business ^^.

And I now wonder how much a dwarf woman lost when they become Slayers. I only have a example from another (magnific) quest. But they literally cut their pride to try to get to their doom. That had to hurt more.

We talked about this with Soulcake and the answer he told us is that being literally unmovable, in the sense of a giant gribbly smacking you and you not going anywhere or a charge just splashing off completely isn't possible because of how it breaks physics. As stubborn as they are Dwarves are still vulnerable to physics.

For a charge of dwarves vs dwarf sized beings, Slowness is about the best we get.
There ought to be a Rune of Bracing or something that'd mean gribblies would have to rip a couple cubic meters of rock out and yeet that along with the dwarf before any yeeting could occur though. That shouldn't be too abstract for dorfs, since it's just an extension of the thing they do as a shieldwall to receive charges.

Hmm... Upon rereading, i noticed Snorri referring to casting "Wrath and Ruin", but in our case it was an invisible wave of crushing force while Lorna's was lightning. Cosmetic? I think not: we should look into this.

Also, Lorna's insults... XD

I think it is cosmetic. Combat mechanics in this are primarily in how the DCs are set and who gets plus what.
However I think you will want to see this.
You dont know the "other" offensive Rune casts like Lighning Bolt and such. It also requires that you have the Rune needed to "cast" that effect, which you don't. Trust me when I say, I'm sort of getting sick writing Wrath and Ruin over and over too ya know. :^V
Learning another offensive cast probably isn't enough by itself to get an increase for our Rune bonus however, especially given ours is currently better than Lorna's so if anything we'd roll Lightning at a +35 not +45.
Given that I don't think we've been told what the required Rune is for anything I assume that part is generally abstracted as otherwise soulcakes going to stir up a whole bunch of salt when we invest heavily in a new weapon only to find out we can no longer cast.

E: Also

9) Could we carry something in our belts just for the purposes of casting Lightning at people? Wrath and Ruin feels pretty weaksauce.
9. If you had that Rune it would count as part of a talismanic item. Im not giving you that ability so freely.
So I guess Wrath and Ruin is default. Get a Talisman with a 3 stack of Fire if we want a Fire version that increase our Rune modifier?

I wonder if there's any mileage in trying to learn the lightning version of Wrath and Ruin and collaborating with the King of the Skies or his sons on seeing if they can do anything with it or a variant.

Honestly though, it's magic. Why does it care about the laws of physics? We can make a weapon that heats itself up then explodes on impact, or randomly electrifies, or induce a myriad of other absurd effects. We're a little past the point of caring about the laws of physics, I'd think.
It's Dwarf 'magic' as in magic that is supposed to act in a certain way. Considering that Dwarfs dislike the warp for it acting so weird and them being extremely traditional it does make sense that Dwarfs would like their stuff to work in a more predictable way.

There might be some value in testing a few antipinball combos on some talismans once the research pit is filled in a bit. At the rate we're going, there's going to be a running tally between the Runelords and Otrek as to who's been smacked around more after a fight.

I am concerned we will be wasting the Greedy Troll Heart on Armour.

We don't need to rush the Armour now, so have an opportunity to find the best Rune Combo we can use.

Also the Special Heart can Regenerate making it a Resource that is renewable which we can farm for components.... So why are we going to waste it in a one use creation?

At least if we had fed it to the Sky King it would pass to his children and descendants.... One use and gone Armour is foolish.

So, I haven't been able to comment much about the latest battle, but I find it some extremely funny that Lorna, possibly the least martial of the Runelords of Kraka Drakk, was the one to secure the kill on the Shard Dragon. Those extra ingredients will do her good as well. She's shockingly young to be granted the rank of Runelord, and her setting up with some rare reagents only a couple of decades after becoming said Runelord is going to likely help her develop even stronger runes in the future.

Good luck Lorna, and fight your way to the largest library ever seen by a dwarf!

I didn't realize any of the plans were using the Heart...

Welp. Worse uses than our Rhunrikki's personal armor exist.

Did you guys just miss the part before the wyrm where a vote to use the heart on our personal armor set, with the new "mountainsoul" rune combo, won?
