On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Maybe less hearth guard would have died if we had spared a bit more time to their training?
Training takes Retainer actions, building Skaudardrengi takes Snorri's and Karstah's actions (which makes sense, since the Hearthguard are generally more skilled combatants than Snori), so those are basicly two unrelated things. Basicly the choice was between training or actually sending the Hearthguard to help people.

We can replace the gear after we make it given how much Adamant we'll be making, and frankly the only one of those I can see is Deep Gate solely because of how god damn absurd Deep Gate is. Otherwise, let's get this big project I've been hyped forever for going.

Though I do like the idea of prodding the sword for the sake of more Metal XP given how once we creep through exactly enough Azakit to get to the next stage of Rune Metal, well. That's what I'll be pushing for.

Dragon very good. We should do a lot more long term projects like this. Considering the next one might be the Mountainsoul Banner post-panoply.
Hopefully the next long term project is akazit but in terms of crafting yeah it's probably the mountainsouled banner. Between wanting Stormmantle for Skaud and Mountainsouled for the hearthguard, we can find the time to make WtW and give it to the throng. It's a strong candidate for the first glimril item depending on how many MRunes it can take.

So uh... what are folks thinking for next turn? Skaudardrengi is now looking at 6 actions needed, which doable in a single turn (3 Snorri AP or 4 Karstah AP), but I gather that folks want to try and hold off until the Storm Of Magic. Are we looking at something like the following?

Action TakenAP Spent, Bonus ProgressProgression
Starlight Pt. 22 Snorri AP, 1~3 Peerless Production3~5 Progress out of
The Road to Anoqeyån Pt. 22 Snorri AP, 1 Master Of The Odd, 2 Karstah AP, 1 Master Of The Odd6 Progress out of 6
The Brotherhood Calls2 Snorri AP, 1~3 Peerless Production, 2 Karstah AP, 1 Productivity Like One Other6~8 Progress out of 1

You can ignore The Brotherhood Calls in that plan if you'd like, but if we're going to be doing some forging that harnesses a Storm Of Magic, Snorri and Karstah both getting some joint immersion into what Snorri recalls of such could be a good idea. Otherwise, the Brotherhood Calls could be something else. Could even just be Snorri Marching with the Throng again.

Speaking about other projects, as a very very long term one what about a Yorri Gronti? A Yorrinti or Gronri ? It will be after we cracked the three rune problem where we can go crazy on it. Far smaller than the dragon, it may be mostly used a guardian for the Rhun University. It will most likely be the first non-ancestor made gronti as such and we can both honor Yorri even Durin in a roundabout way with it. Not an exact plan btw, just throwing an idea.

We are not yet done with preparations for Skaud, 100 bars of adamant aren't going to appear out of nowhere

I had forgotten about the need for more adamant bars, admittedly. You could swap out The Brotherhood Calls for Once More With The Smelting in that plan, free up 2 Karstah AP to work on other things with a solid 84% chance of Snorri finishing the one with just 2 AP spent. To my knowledge, the work for the larger scale Master Rune Of Awakening is being included in the Request anyway.

Yeah. Karstah needs 2ap to finish a smelter, and it's better to let her finish starlight with another 2ap. Then Snorri 1ap+KKR finishes the second smelter, 1ap into skaud to get the time started, 1ap into waystones to finish that so the waytap is safer because we need to waytap for the bars. That leaves 3 free.

Prob just throw 1ap into brotherhood calls because that's 4 progress with KKR and more than enough tbh. That leaves 2ap for Yorri prods if he shows up. I'd like to compress Deep Gate, Mountainsouled. We could also finish body or soul, I forget which one is down to 2ap left.

Can't use Karstah AP on Anoqeyan anyway. It's a shame windsight didn't reduce that down to 4 either. Maybe using the last 2ap on that anyway isn't a bad idea.

Edit: Totally forgot about KKR. We should probably examine that lol.

Smelters are 4 actions, unfortunately, so Karstah would need 3 actions to make one. And I could have sworn we were able to spend Heir actions on some general actions, specifically back from when we were working on Riddle Me This, but I now can't find where soulcake said whether that was an exception or not.

We had her put 1 action into it at some point these last few turns, so her smelter is down to 3 left
Huh. I mean, I believe it. When I was doing that draft plan, I was using Turn 58 as my reference point, and it sure doesn't show that for whatever reason:
[ ] [Simple] Once more with Smelting: [Cost: 4 actions, 1 Voidstone, x10 Adamant] Peerless Production will proc. Gain 1 Greater Dragonblood Smelter. It has been around a century since you last made an Adamant Smelter. It's been enough time since that you feel safe about making another one without feeling like you're committing sacrilege.

The bullet points for my turn 59 plan are this, assuming no Yorri.

1) Examines the Godhammer finally
2) Training the Hearthguard is progressed to halfway done
3) Does the Brotherhood Request
4) Completes the two smelters we need for the Dragon
5) Researches the upgraded Monumental Waking rune, prepping for our 6 ap commitment on turn 60 into the Dragon's actual construction
6) Finishes Monolith Mastery pt 1 so we can Waystone tap better
7) Repairs Kraka Grom
8) Karstah builds the Starlight hammer
9) Orders most of the remaining reagents for the Dragon's equipment
10) Begins work on sorting out Khaz overpopulation

Its a busy turn, lots of stuff happening, but its all stuff that needs to get done. If it looks like the Storm is not coming on turn 60, then this turn 59 plan will alter significantly.

easy way to sort out the overpopulation, build a second hold under and around the hold! DEFENSE IN DEPTH! :V

Huh, have we tried putting anything other than gromril and dragons blood into a smelter? I wonder if it could purity other things.
Dunno its a issue thats kinda below the level of abstraction.
Probably not as we only get to fire up the smelters once every decade so its kinda a high cost to experiment.
I expect putting a gemstone in would fail to create a superior gemstone which could hold magic.
Gromril and its related forms are uniquely good at holding Rune power in a way that we couldn't replicate by putting just Iron in or something. So I wouldn't expect putting a diamond or ruby in would cause it to be better at carrying rune power.
Further with the dragons blood we see that we also burn out a lot of the useful magic in order to create chromatic dragons blood, therefore even if successful its likely we ruin other required properties of the gemstone.
Purified does not mean Betterified.

I gave my own suggestion for what might do it back here, however it comes with more than a few caveats.
However from a 4th wall perspective, we know that the small amounts of Gromril picked up but Azrilwut significantly strengthened that wood to the point of bearing armour runes.
Potentially growing artifical crystals using Adamant crushed into dust as nucleation points would give us the best of both worlds. Or Gromril even if it can survive the Smelting process.
This does of course require Snorri to develop even more new fields of science (and break a Durudin Challenge to grind up the Adamant) so its a long term idea at best. And its possible that artificially grown crystals wouldn't be done in their natural setting of winds and so might lack magical properties that the Gemstone needs in the first place.

I don't think we can use KKR on a smelter, as I can't see how we can make a legendary one.

Legendary isn't a requirement for [Simple] actions
—— +3 Progress to any [Simple] Crafting option, or +2 Progress to Pt. 2 of any [Difficult] Request option, that the wielder puts atleast 1 general action towards.
...
—— If the wielder works on [Difficult] Requests with this hammer, they can only be fulfilled with Legendary Creations.

Rereading the update, I wonder if Snorri feels some sort of debt to Malkeith for helping save Karstah, Grimgal, and the Hearthguard with them. It sounds like if he and the High King hadn't showed up it might have gone very badly for them.

For the next turn, I wonder if we might want to compress Empowered Awakening and do the Soul branch of Movement of Things to try to upgrade the Mind for Constructs trait.

We also might want to consider compressing True Adamant Maker if we're building smelters.

Legendary isn't a requirement for [Simple] actions
That makes things easier.

All this talk about a giant Dragon-sized Gronti has conjured a most silly idea.

In the Far Future when Sigmar has saved the High King, Alric is going to start going crazy about his 12 magic swords and Snorri is going to kick down the doors and shout "Forget magic swords! Sigmar! Find me twelve Umgi with attitude!" And reveal 12 pilotable Gronti that combine into something the size of an Emperor titan.

After we've ramped up Adamant production, it might be interesting to make another kaiju gronti using a compressed MRoEmpowered Waking in the not too far distant future, perhaps based on the King of the Skies, giving it an item with a compressed Storm Mantle.

Giant flying indestructible adamant gronti give the dwarves an invaluable force projection capability they currently lack.

Talking of which, I wish we'd bought the MRoGrungi's Craftmanship from Ogra, or get another chance to trade:

Master Rune of Grungni's Craftsmanship [Engineering] (Greatly enhances a war machine's unique and specialized traits)

A simplified version seems like it might be interesting on a gronti.

Not to mention that the Master Rune might be interesting when placed on a prosthetic, say, a Windsight Eye?

DO NOT TEMPT THE THREAD. I can guarantee someone would try to argue this, and would probably get at least a few people on board.

That feels a bit over the top yeah.

Specifically since we have a more pratical and shinier goal in actually figure out how to overcome the rule of three.
