The newest version brings up a lot of goofd points that weren't really brought up before during the "negotiation" and bring something to the table that might actively help Sendai as incentive.

There is, sort of; not everyone has the potential to become a magical girl. Judging from the fact that 1 in 10 girls don't mysteriously vanish (or at least, I assume they don't), it's likely quite a lot less than 10% of the population.
I had more the impression that it was about temperament too; see magical boys being entirely possible, just not done due being saner.

This has not been tested. What if we accidentally cut off the connection to our soul gem doing this?
We'd sense the magic connection much like we sense one with our wings. Though we can always leave a hole.

This is actually a very decent option which I seem to recall being brought up once Akiko started on her madness mantra. Why did we vote against it again?
When I tried to get people to vote for it, it was "do not leave negotiation table, that is poor negotiations". The Kyubey argument was kind of tanked on the face of Akiko not having timestop to hide things from Kyubey with. Then later, it got tanked due combat becoming likely, and thus not being able to go over iirc.

(The witchbomb: Her behaviour was speculated to be due witnessing it in person.)
While it's true we can ask coobs to get rid of the grief. This is not something we should be relying on. We need better ways to dispense with grief.
Eh, they still fill only half a bag - I'd rather want more grief at this stage. I'd start to worry when we can't fit it into the air above us, looking like air.

We shouldn't experiment with fully emptied seeds around others until we know exactly what happens there. Offering to cleanse seeds is safe.
So, risking up to near a dozen magical girl deaths is better than risking seed doing something we haven't seen yet? I doubt it. And if it is such a problem, don't make it entirely clear.

That is not even considering that I would have considered it a lead-in to seeing if we can help fix Kato. For which we don't even need to give them away or make more.

*checks above*

Finally someone else willing to talk with Fukushima *has been hitting that vote for several past updates*

It doesn't exactly sing, but eh...

Uh, dude, do you remember how we blotted out the sub with the contents of hildegarde grief seed? There is significantly more than half a bag worth of grief within a single grief seed, think, enough grief to recreate the scene from 2001 levels.

Guess we better stress that they can always come to Sabrina huh?
She's inadequately scared of us for this to be useful, and likely unaware that UG have other potential sources of backup. If you don't want Akiko to escalate, I strongly suggest dropping that line in favour of a vaguer suggestion that they might be amenable to peace.

If she's so bloodthirsty that being able to talk Ishanomaki out of fighting her is all she'd need to wipe out the UG right now, then quite frankly fighting her is unavoidable.

I don't think we gave that back to Kyubey, did we? It is why we have 2000 marbles right now instead of about 150.

But I want more power. More Despair! UNLIMITED POWER!

But wait, in order to get more grief, we need more girls. Or at least more miserable girls. Time to go full QB!
Ultimately, yes, but right now girls are a pittance to witches. Assuming we need about 10 seeds for 1 m^3 grief, we only need ....ah shit, bit under 42 million grief seeds to pull off most dense and large Ramiel impersonation possible with our current range.

....

Lets never get rid of grief again.

This is what, the 7th last straw vote?

I have lost count. I got sick of rope votes 2-3 updates ago. I said then I was willing go for any decent aggressive vote and I stand by that.

But Crasian's declarations were not the way to go about it, its too wordy. SWB was better and made sense. Its too late to matter now, spent 10 hours away from a computer so had to catch up on 10 pages. But its the principle that should be followed.

Kyubey is going to spin things however he wants. Sabrina could act like a saint and he'd still find a way to twist it negatively. Yes I think we are too afraid of what hypothetical others would think of our actions and deliberately hamstringing ourselves in the present, possibly harming our allies. Some people like NSMS seem to think that if we don't act inoffensive and shy away from any violence then we'll be painted as a warmonger to neighbouring groups. This is bullshit, if Kyubey wanted that he twist it that way even if we roleplayed Gandhi.

Sometimes we have to take the initiative instead of simply reacting. Sitting and waiting for the other side to attack first is a ridiculously complacent attitude that we will pay for.

Go ahead.

Also, I just realized something. Akiko. Oriko.

Coincidence? I THINK NOT. Totally is. Or is it?
We must never let Aki and Oriko meet.

Oh god I can imagine it: Sabrina's panicking and doing everything she can to avoid them being in the same room, Kirika's playing along and Homura finally gets exasperated and corners Sabrina who confesses her fear that were Aki and Oriko to meet, their names might resonate and they might spontaneously fuse into a new Akiko! One Akiko is already enough for this world, more than enough! And then it turns serious when Homura takes the 'One is already more than enough for this world' as meaning Akiko needs to die...

I swear I didn't use to think up stuff like this before joining SB/SV.

"We've Got Hostiles" pt. 29
"That won't be necessary," you say to the University girls, a tiny smirk crossing your face. A shame Homura isn't hear, but... one for the mental scoreboard, anyway. "If Akiko decides to try anything, we can shut her down. Quite aside from what you girls can bring to the table... well."

"You know Mami. One of the strongest and most talented magical girls alive. Kirika... well, she has some nasty tricks hidden up those sleeve ruffle things and me? I can and will yank Soul Gems if I have to." A feral smirk, one to match any of Kirika's, washes across your face. Some part of you is going to enjoy humbling Akiko, if it comes to it.

Chouko flinches at the sight. "I see..."

You lean back in your chair. "For now... we don't actually know whether Akiko's going to start anything. It's just... well. She dropped out of communication after meeting... a party she hired for combat."

"You can say Fukushima, we know it's them," Haru says, rolling her eyes.

You shrug. "The point I want to make is that it's suspicious as hell and something to be concerned about, but!" You raise a finger to emphasize the point. "But there could be an innocent explanation. Maybe she just doesn't like my voice, or she can't focus on two conversations at once, or something."

Yuko snorts softly, deep purple hair bobbing with the motion. "Not likely."

Another ambivalent shrug. "Maybe. I'll give her enough rope to hang herself... but I'd really rather she didn't. For now... I'm still working on it."

Rei glances at her sister, and then at you. "You have an amazing amount of optimism," she mutters.

"Eh," you say. You close your eyes, taking a deep breath and force back the bubbling pit of anger. When you think you can speak calmly to Akiko, you reopen the connection to her again.

"It occurs to me, Miss Hamasaki, that I may have been going about things wrongly," you say slowly. "Or rather, there are some things I neglected to mention."

Akilo doesn't respond for a moment, and your anger begins to bubble back to the surface again.

"I will hear you out."

That's... almost a snub. Your teeth grind against each other for a moment, but you force yourself to reply civily. "First, I am willing to offer my services to the Fukushima girls to help defray the costs involved."

"Noted," Akiko says tersely.

You frown. That's not really like her, that you've seen. She likes her words. Distraction, annoyance, cutting off an enemy... You have no idea. Still, you forge onwards for now. "Additionally, I spoke to the Ishinomaki group, asking for an end to hostilities. They said they would stop fighting in return for a mutual cease fire."

A longer pause this time. "I am not interested in peace with them," she replies eventually.

That's interesting. You suppress your urge to lash out on that count - why the frelling hell does she not want peace? "And about that," you continue on. "What do you want with Ishinomaki?"

Akiko's response is monosyllabic and cold. "Redress."

Redress? Revenge, then? The same excuse that she screamed at the Ishinomaki girls, if couched in different terms? In that case, the-

A loud flumph behind you makes you jump. You twist around to see-

Someone opening an umbrella. Umbrellas appear as if by magic throughout the crowd, blossoms of colours ranging from black to white to blue to red. A plop draws your attention back to the table - a raindrop just landed in the middle of Kirika's plate.

Oh. Rain.

Great.

"Excuse me, dears, would you like to move inside?" the elderly owner of the cafe walks out, surprisingly sprightly despite her age. The rain begins to patter down, the lazy, fat droplets picking up in intensity.

I want to drop the witchbomb on akiko.

Let's... Not? You could phrase it as: "Did Kyubey set you up? I've seen it bend the truth to make MGs kill each other. Everything he says is the 'truth'... From a certain point of view."

[] To Akiko: "For what, exactly? Is this about Kato Setsuko? They don't know anything about what happened to her."
[] - If she answers that they killed her
[] - - Who told you that? Kyubey? What reason do you have to believe him?

Akiko, by this point, knows that Kyubey a shit, but hasn't had time to reevaluate assumptions based on things he told her before she knew that.

There's no reason to witchbomb her because she has no knowledge about Kyubey's thing about technically not lying that would make us need to explain what he means by something.

Well, unless there's anything else to add, I'd say that negotiations are basically wrapped up - we've heard it from the main girl herself - she's not interested in peace with all the groups involved, which is our reason for getting involved in the first place. Good thing too, as I was getting worried that she'd accept our last ditch attempt and then we'd be unable to do anything about the healing extortion ring she's got going without jeopardising the uneasy peace.

We've played nice and been turned down, now we can say "no more rent, no more healing ripoffs, no arguments" without having to worry that we'd push too hard and make negotiations impossible.

So, shall we start to make good on our grumblings that 'this vote is the last chance?'

Suggestion for preparing to go to war:
[x] decline to go inside, we'll be leaving shortly.
[x] Akiko doesn't want peace with Ishinomaki? Then we have nothing more to discuss.
[x] see what the other Sendai girls think about Akiko's vendetta.
[x] if there are no objections then officially close negotiations.
[x] see what Uni group wants to do and decide what to do with Rin (let go if she stays a noncombatant?)

Also considering [] Issue ultimatum: those that don't want to fight, stay out of it. Otherwise you'll be considered hostile.
And [] try to contact Fukishima and attempt to outbid/discourage them from fighting.
