To put it in a way, is will be easier for us if Sendai throws the first stone in this posible future confrontation. Don't rush things when there's still a chance to salvage this.

I get the frustation you all are feeling, okay? Just give this one last shot (because seriously, is the last shot. If Akiko doesn't even hear Sakura/Rin, then we can start worrying)

That's the thing. I get giving this one last shot. But what we're trying here is a pathetic shot that just repeats several shots we've already made. Please, if this is the last shot, let's offer Akiko something different in addition to the thing she's already told us she doesn't give a shit about, or let's genuinely give Sakura and Rin good convincing reasons beyond "or you end up fighting again". Or both.

Okay then, what do you suggest for the "different thing"?

You sure about that? Because it mostly seems like she's going to side with Akiko no matter what. Someone with sufficient enough skill at social-fu, manipulation, and subtlety can probably pull it off, though.

Can you see why I'm skeptical of our chances?

If we aren't going to at least try we don't have a chance of succeeding at all, you do know that, right? Chances being slim is not the same as there being no chance, and at this point I'm willing to cling on to any course of action that offers even the slimmest chances of resolving this peacefully.

Ask her if she could ask if we can pay Fukushima for their travel here in some other way, like, say, refreshing their entire stockpile of seeds and as much free cleansing as they're willing to travel to us to get? Ask her if she would like us to speak to Ishinomaki, with whom we have a good relationship, about whatever she wants from their territory? Show her our fully cleansed seed and ask if she's interested in applying this treatment to part of her stockpile? Offer to ally with her against future external threats, assuming she's not responsible for provoking them, and even then we'll intervene like we did here if she wants us to?

I mean, I totally get that most of these aren't things the thread will vote for. But I refuse to call what we're doing a proper last ditch effort as is.

Because we don't know what happens to fully emptied seeds for any extended period of time. Hildegarde was emptied in part to observe this. True, Hildegarde may be a special case though.

So? We can try to tell them to wait a certain amount of time, and tell them we're making sure that they're completely safe to use first. It might not work, but it's something.

Edited: Okay never mind, I can sort of see what you're are saying. I don't think that they would just transform back to soul gems on their own though.

We shouldn't experiment with fully emptied seeds around others until we know exactly what happens there. Offering to cleanse seeds is safe.

There's also the issue with the huge amounts of grief inside each seed, and until we find a way to compress the stuff to a more manageable level we simply have nowhere to put it all.

On that note, I'm half tempted to create some sort of contraption that steadily dispenses collected grief marbles when a pressure plate is pressed; slap one of those on the roof of Mami's place and you can have Kyubey get rid of the excess with only minimal interaction.

While it's true we can ask coobs to get rid of the grief. This is not something we should be relying on. We need better ways to dispense with grief.

Guys, we aren't even really negotiating here. Negotiation usually has some level of compromise between all parties. And it looks like we aren't even really willing to compromise or to give up on anything, or at least even try. We're offering grief seed cleansing, true. But we were already offering that anyway and would have offered it for free. We're just issuing demands. Something that the Sendai girls might very well notice and call us out on. They aren't really gaining anything they wouldn't have gotten anyway by agreeing to this. Well besides, getting Ishinomaki and the University girls off their backs. They don't know about the former and the latter probably won't be enough.

Though, I guess this depends on whether or not the Sendai girls know we would have given our services for free.

None of the alternative suggestions brought up are all that tenable. Cleansing Fukushima is doable but not much of a concession. We offered to help mediate things with Ishinomaki. It was ignored. Offering aid against external threats is a no go. Sendai's lied to us about this kind of thing before. Fully emptied grief seeds aren't ready. We can't allow Sendai into Mitakihara during wartime.

We have next to nothing else we can really offer them beyond appeasement and that's not going to happen either.
