I'm considering skipping the hunt so we can go do science, but I'm not sure what to even research right now. I'd like to figure out how to operate as a soul gem but we'd need a spotter.

About purchases: We frequently go on long flight trips, getting some snacks to accomodate passengers feels right. Also, I was thinking about gift ideas for Mami and I figured getting some photos of her friends to hang around the house would be perfect.

There's more stuff I can think of doing but I'm not sure how much time we'll have before we have to go have dinner with Nagisa's uncle.

Didn't we have existing plans, plans Homura agreed to, to talk to Madoka during lunch, in time stop? Did that get put on hold because of Homura taking talking about telling Madoka more so poorly just now?

Like Sabrina said I dont get it get it - especially given that Homura herself tried scare tactics before - but I get it that trauma is not great at being logical. Well, we have "In case of everything going FUBAR" button and thats good enough.

Note that the Murasaki Shrine Maidens have two separate healers on-staff and are meant by reputation to be quite nice.

We'd need to check if they're lichbombed before potentially asking for their help with re-embodiment, but it at least seems plausible that they'd be able and willing to help with the Souju situation.
 
So our objectives when we go on the trip tomorrow:

Meet Kagoshima Group and Murasaki Shrine Maidens
- Standard offers: free cleansing, clear seed, protection, etc.
- Figure out who is lichbombed or witchbombed
- Talk to the Kagoshima grief controller to compare notes
- Acquire omiyage
- Recruit for Walpurgisnacht
- Request omiki from Shrine Maidens for Yuki
- With permission, claim buildings for Yuki
- If they agree to be lichbombed or already are, recruit the Shrine Maidens to help the Souju victims and arrange transportation through either Rin and Sakura or Yuki
- Share information and contact lists
- Experiment with our powers when subjected to Miss Koyanagi's Magic Amplification

And once Sayaka's back we'll make another trip to copy their powers.

Based on the spoiler box at the top, it looks like this update was a "part 2" of the previous vote and wasn't written with the votes between the two updates in mind.

And if it was, my assumption would be an order of operations error. I didn't specify that we should bring up telling Madoka about the contingency before broaching the idea of warning Madoka she could accidentally cause the apocalypse. As a result, it was treated as a fourth item on the agenda instead of part of the second, leading to us not getting to it when the third item ran into trouble.

I have no objections to your plan as it is now. I think it fits with what we said we were going to do.

We will be alone with Mami for a bit, and I seem to recall some things we wanted to talk with her about. Only things I recall were the post-mortum on the Souju fight as a segue into mentioning Charlotte and our worries about her dropping her guard before the fight's over, and providing more details now that Mami knows about Madokami and Homufer.

I specifically want to cover the Potentialbomb with Mami so she knows the threat to Homura. She needs to know that Homura will be broken by the knowledge that her time travel is responsible for increasing Madoka's potential, and that Oriko convinced us that she was on our side by warning us that Kyubey knows it and will drop it on Homura during Walpurgisnacht if we can't do something about it (and that she did so thinking it would be the last thing she ever did).

And that we still have zero clue how to actually disarm that one. Help, Mami!

Maybe we could cover that when we head back to the apartment to drop off the cake. That seems like a good time to set up a privacy construct.

...Asunaro barrier. Kyubey is the one who drops bomb on Homura, right? So, what if we convince Saints to make a charm that has Asunaro barrier's effect and basically makes it impossible for its wearer to notice Kyubey at all? We can attempt - ATTEMPT - to talk down Homura after the fight is over, Madoka not meguca and looping is no longer needed (if available at all) and try to convince her that potential increase allowed Madoka to make "Fix everything" wish without which we or rather they (since Sabrina existing wouldnt be a thing) would've been royally screwed (and if it goes badly we just restrain her and drain grief anyway; sometimes there's no other way to disarm bomb other than detonate it). But thats after the fight, before that we can just tell Homura Kyubey has another bomb up his sleeve and this lil trinket would make it impossible for him to talk to her.

Telling Homura there's another bomb was what we were going to do when the warning came.

I have previously suggested we use the Asunaro barrier around Mitakihara and justify it to Homura as a way of keeping Madoka from contracting so she doesn't need to know that we're also trying to keep her from being bombed.

But I've gotten pretty heavy pushback on that, to the point I'm not convinced such a vote could get through. I still think it's a good idea.

What? Why? The only downside I can think of is that we cant check if Incubator spies on us. Hence why instead of barrier I propose just a trinket for a single person. Two, if Homura agrees to give one to Madoka. Homura has no reason whatsoever to worry about Kyubey if there's someone else to monitor him. Sabrina even much better at that given Skitter-like bullshit we can pull off with grief fog.

The downsides that have been brought up include the fear that visitors to Mitakihara would notice a field of mind altering magic and assume we were up to something, an irrational fear that Kyubey would be able to take advantage of us not being able to notice him to harm us in some way despite the fact that the only reason we can notice him in the first place is he wants to be noticed, and people being upset at losing the convenience of Kyubey's telepathy network that I maintain we should be trying to wean ourselves off of anyway.

Individual trinkets were another proposal I've suggested, which helps with the mind control field shadowrunning, and has the advantage of enabling people's agency, since it lets them just take off the trinket if they decide for themselves they want to talk to Kyubey, without letting him pop in at his convenience to drop bombs at the worst possible moment. It has the disadvantage of not protecting anyone we haven't handed one out to, and we'll have a harder time convincing Homura to wear one. (Best way I can think of is we get Madoka to wear one, and the rest of the team wears them in solidarity and to keep us from being accidental vectors for Kyubey to manipulate Madoka by manipulating us.) And it still doesn't deal with the other objections, so it also gets heavy pushback.

Like I said, I think it's a good idea, so I'm not sure I'm presenting the opposing arguments well here. Someone who does hold that position will have to clarify if I've got something wrong or am missing one.

I guess people were against it as a long-term solution however we literally have to weather JUST Walpurgis fight which is, unless things go horribly, horribly wrong, would take an hour tops. And we can get to Homura by promising to explain her everything once we won. If we dont screw everything up she should trust us - and Mami! - enough to let us keep Madoka out of Kyubey's paws even if we wont manage to get Madoka wear the thing too.

The main one for me is that we'd lose access to telepathy, which comes with multiple issues:
  1. If any of our friends from out of town run into trouble and need our help, we haven't exactly been giving out our phone number. Also, not all of our friends have phones. We know Nadia doesn't, for example.
  2. If contacting us wasn't so easy that Mika could do it on a whim, our first clue that the Iowa Group was coming would have been when their flying battleship arrived over Mitakihara and opened fire.
  3. Being able to contact us while she's at school has been important for Mami's mental health, and I doubt her teachers would be cool with her being on the phone in class.
  4. We aren't the only meguca in Mitakihara, and unilaterally cutting everyone else's comms for reasons we refuse to elaborate on isn't a good look.
I'd be fine with activating it solely for the duration of the Walpurgisnacht fight since that's a time we'd be unavailable to outsiders anyway (with the caveat that it might be hard to find a place to set up the device where we were sure it couldn't be destroyed in what's essentially an Endbringer attack), but there are some pretty serious issues with anything more permanent.

Well, I dont propose anything other than shielding Homura (and may be Madoka) with it for the duration of the fight. Not keeping track of the rat is dangerous.

And we dont need whole ass barrier. We need to exclude 1-2 people, if Saints were able to shield entire goddamn city SURELY they can make a pair of trinkets?

...this does remind me that there were discussions of researching and creating a separate independent telepathy network.

It's already in the form of a trinket. That was the device Niko's clone stole.
