But! Oriko and Kirika are both capable of healing, well-intentioned enough that they'd probably be on-board with the idea if we ask (particularly if we raise the tends-to-contribute-to-contracting angle), fairly unlikely to attract his attentions, and more than capable of dealing with it if they do. Thoughts?
  1. Homura
  2. Uncomfortable questions regarding Oriko's missing arm
  3. Kirika decks Kwijibo should she sniff out anything directed at her oujo
  4. Homura
  5. While the house arrest is more of a formality at this point, it still violates the spirit of it if both of them are out and about even for more benevolent purposes
  6. More uncomfortable questions from our non-contracted friends on why they're meeting O&K just now when we've been living in the same city
  7. Homura (because it really bears repeating)
  8. Mami reminding us that they blew up our house and burned down Sayaka's leg... wait-
  9. Homura flipping out because that would require O&K within the same city block (if not the same room) as Madoka

Maybe not to this set of questions, but it helps us figure out the best ways to ask her [Oriko] anything later on, so that we're more likely to get results and less likely to annoy her pointlessly.

There's nothing wrong with gaining a better understanding of her power, and asking demonstrates we care about working with her properly.

The phrasing for the rest doesn't matter so much, but the lead-in about what info helps her search and how to present it is the main component I'm promoting.
This seems like a waste of time to me because
Basically, I expect you guys as players to leverage the power, whatever it may be, towards a given end, as opposed to me basically spoonfeeding you solutions, hence the no pre- or post- cog, no Path to Victory stipulations.
  • Point the first: Yes, this was specifically about Sabrina's wish. Pretty sure it still applies, though.
  • Point the second: This implies that Oriko's limitations are largely about her not being able to see anything that will break the story.
The gripping hand is that what information Oriko can give Sabrina is more of a Doylist phenomenon than a Watsonian one, and therefore a general Watsonian solution to getting more information from her (ie, 'How I ask better question?') can only fail and be an exercise in frustration.

If your intention is to show you care about her, then get to know her better, not her power. That's far more likely to get you more information, because she'll be more likely to tell you the stuff she already knows but isn't yet willing to share. Plus, you know, hanging with Best Buddy.

Apologies to SWB; he's certainly not the only poster poking around this particular rabbit hole.

I feel that we should befriend more magical girls
Fixed.

Also, Homura might object to this plan.

nah, her spirit animal is totally a Giahnt Spidahr
No, Rochelle is first in line if we ever manage to create familiars. :p

Maybe we can have two spirit animals? A nice one and an evil one? The evil one could be a microwave, always urging us to feed him tea...

Homura would have solid objections (as opposed to the kneejerk 'b-but Oriko!' that we're going to get whenever we mention her name) if we did it after school, but I'm suggesting we don't do that.
(Because we've got better things to do with that time, and because we do not want to get someone else's asinine teenage drama on us, ew).
With Madoka in school, Homura with her, and us in the same room as O&K, everything's squared away better than usual. It'd also mean that non-contracted friends aren't an issue, and difficult questions are less of one.
Possessive-Kirika could be a problem, but he doesn't need his nose to play the violin, what the hell's he whining about Oriko's usually pretty good at keeping her from doing anything unwise.
As for them being under house arrest - if we can justify letting them out to shop under guard (and if we can't, we can't justify not keeping a dedicated watch on their place 24/7) I'm not really seeing the issue with pulling them in, supervised, when we've got a chore they could help with and they might want some fresh air.

I don't think taking Oriko or Kirika anywhere will go well with Homura.
"Hm." You nod, falling silent for a moment before taking a breath and continuing. "So, yeah. That was morning. After lunch... I took Oriko and Kirika food shopping, since they were low on food." You brace yourself, anticipating objections.

Homura frowns, brow furrowing deeply, but she doesn't say anything.

Not... exactly encouraging.
Plus, taking them anywhere near Madoka's circle of friends? She will be against it.

I hope it's a positive growth due to all the awesome stuff that is happening, like fighting yakuza time ninjas and not something else, like Homura staring at us for half an hour without reacting to anything we do, because we screwed up.

Why not both?

Somehow, we screw up in such a way that the time-stop-Yakuza-raid turns dangerous for the first time ever in all the loops.

All the way through the amazing, lightning-paced fight with the YAKUZA Magical Acrobatic Ninjas, Homura's silently glaring at us whenever she's not busy ventilating anybody who dares get in the way of her Homu Glare™.

No need to waste ammunition, at sufficient levels (as it would undoubtedly be in this hypothetical) the Homu Glare™ is lethal to normal, squishy lifeforms like humans.
Yeah, but pissed off as Homura would be, she's still got a soft spot for Sabrina, so she wouldn't turn the Homu Glare™ that high, else she might hurt her.

What have you been feeding it?
Unprocessed shipping and shadowruns in 1:2 ratio, clearly:

It's funny because Oriko is a seer~

I'm not sold on the utility of carrying a gun at all. It won't stop a Witch alone, or anything on a similar scale. Bullet wounds could inconvenience a meguca, but it would take overkill to down one like say, what Homura did to Oriko. About all we can hope for is to shoot soul gems. Lethal options like that are even more restrictive than range or if we can't use powers.
We could make custom bullets. Ooh, maybe ones that serve as delivery system for antiproton-fullerene matrix.
Err... you're aware that recreational drugs are kinda different from medicinal drugs, right? And that yakuza are more likely to have the former than the latter? And even if we found medicinal drugs, we would have no bloody clue what to prescribe her?
Er...Yes? I stated it multiple times? *Kicks pebbles on the road*
I mean if some of their guns go missing, they'll probably start looking at one another real hard. If their merchandise and guns go?
Well, now. It is not like there isn't an out to that:
So when are we going to try removing grief from non meguca? Maybe try it on some yakuza scum 'cause no one will miss him if we fuck up?
Some of us might find it morally disagreeable♪, but it seems like it could at least hold off on that a bit.

Hm. It has been 59 pages since last update end of our Benefactor. Whoops.

[X] Mention that we were thinking of just taking the ammunition and making the gun when we need it.
[X] Ask whether she thinks a non-magical weapon in case of antimagic is even worth it (how often does that come up?)
[X] Ask if she thinks it's worth it to destroy their drugs and such, or is the reaction too violent to risk it?
[X] ... Walpurgisnacht. She knows more about it than us, but if we're going to coordinate a bunch of girls, a skeleton of a plan should start being made...

Redshirt Army

[X] We think we'll keep it in our grief cloud. Fast draw shouldn't be concern, except...
-[X] Could we get something smaller, too? Something we can conceal, in case of anti-magic or something like that.
[X] About the Yakuza, did she ever check what were the repercusions of this?
-[X] Maybe we should do more than just take the guns. Destroy everything to hinder their operations?
[X] Tell her your plan B for Walpurgisnacht: Homura endless timestop/Mami Tiro Finale barrage/Sabrina the magic battery.
-[X] Does she have plans other than just throwing as many Magical Girls at it as possible?
[X] Anyway, tell her you're happy she asked you to come with. You'll be happy to help her any time.

[x] Well, there are two problems that a gun would solve for me, anti-magic and the range limit.
-[x] I probably can't hide a rifle, but I might not need a long gun for the range limit. I just need to make a long tube with Grief and a hammer, right? So I'd just need ammo.
-[x] But a pistol or revolver would help me with fighting someone with anti-magic, and those are pretty concealable.

[x]Shred the AR with our fingerprints on it if Homura's not taking it.
[x] Hey Homura. Do you know a girl named Sasa Yuuki?
-[x] Explain Sasa Yuuki to Homura if she doesn't. Describe the circumstances of her encounter with Oriko in that timeline.
--[x] Her powers fit the odd witch behavior. Though if she's behind it, you still have no idea why she'd go after Sayaka.
--[x] Tomorrow, you're going to see if you can locate her. If she became a magical girl... well, you'll cross that bridge when you get to it.
[x]If Homura doesn't want to talk about anything else and we're done, thank her for letting us come along. It was...nice, doing this with her.

Ah, so here's how we're gonna royally screw up this trip: Attempt to remove grief from Yakuzas -> ? -> YAKUZA Magical Acrobatic Ninjas.

Frankentally.
Look out for the Samurai boss
And the ninjas, lacking souls of their own, will be soul-stealing familiars of Sabrina, of course. Five misses and the world's out!

Well, Homura is a softie for Madoka and her friends, but is still quite ruthless when it comes to trying to protect her from the magical world and Kyubey.
