Re: Feather.

We haven't gone out of timestop since Homura poulled us into to ask about the trip.

Sure, the bloody annoying mcguffin *might* have qualities that leave it immune to timestop to proceed with whatever kind of chicanery, but that's wading too far into shadowderp territory.

Guilty as charged. :p

Added a note.

Strongly disagree with this. Autopsies are going to make problems, bodies that aren't magically protected have a dismayingly short best-by date, and we have no guarantee it won't be incinerated or something.

Better for her to just 'disappear' and us to shove the body somewhere. If she ends up in the papers as a murder victim, that's a can of worms in and of itself for us.

Ugh. This is one of those occaisions why I wish our barrier was still viable. Storage and preservation of rocked girls would be much more simple.

I can think of a few workarounds but we really need to get enchantment going for most of it to work out.

Hey, do you think we should ask Homura what "unsettled" her in Elsa Maria's barrier. We know she claimed she didn't hear a voice/whisper like we did, but we didn't find out why she DID react.

We come home to find Mami wearing The Dress and building a prison perfect world for Sabrina.
Mami's too classy for that.

Sabrina opens the door and steps aside, inviting Homura to enter first. She does, stepping in without fuss.

Following her inside, Sabrina closes the door with a soft "I'm home". Immediately, she giggles at the absurdity of it, since Mami couldn't possibly answer, being affected by time stop...

"Welcome home, Sabrina."

Sabrina's and Homura's head snap towards the owner of the voice, sitting at the table, placidly sipping tea...

"Mami??" Asks Sabrina incredulously, "how..." the words die in her mouth as she registers Mami's garments: A blue dress, stripped socks and... "Where did you... get that?" Sabrina's voice trembles.

Mami blinks confusedly, before looking up. "Oh, t-this?" She grabs at the big yellow bonnet sitting atop her head. "Isn't it n-nice? Uh... Um, I mean, a friend gave it to me!" She smiles radiantly.

Sabrina looks sideways at Homura, this one expressionless, before her eyes slide down, looking at the rope keeping them tethered together, and all around at the grey, colour-leeched room, confirming that yes, time stop is still active.

Sabrina's legs tremble for a moment. She looks back at Mami. "... Mami? This friend... when did you say you met?"

Mami tilts her head slightly to one side. "My friend? Oh, we just met! She came to visit just as you w-were... gone..." Her lips shakily rise into something closer to a grimace than a smile. "She told me the most wonderful things! Do y-you know how many fun things there's to do when you're with your friends? She shared some recipes with me... I'm sure you-you'll like to try them, t-together?" Mami's eyes lock onto Sabrina's, and she can't help but think they look too wide, the white sclera disproportionally large compared to the pupil...

Sabrina sharply takes breath. She blinks repeatedly and shakes her head. When she looks back at Mami, she does it a sense of dreadful certainty, as she moves closer to Mami, steps soft but determined. A second set of footsteps reveal Homura following one step behind.

Mami's expression turns confused, herself looking up at the approaching white haired girl. "Is something... wrong, Sa- Sabrina?"

Sabrina crouches before Mami, and gently grabs her shoulder. "Mami," her voice betrays the slightest uncertainty, "I need you to tell me more about this friend, alright?"

Mami's confusion slowly fade from her features, replaced with a vacant smile. "Of course!" She agrees, "I'm sure you'll like her, we can hang out together, we can have tea parties, and stay together, forever..."

Sabrina lightly shakes Mami, "Mami! Focus!" Mami's gaze snap back to her, wide awake. Sabrina continues, "when you say you met... her, just now, do you mean you met during time stop?"

"We're in time stop?" Mami looks around in wonder.

Sabrina's hands tighten in Mami's shoulders. "Yes" she answers in a whisper, "Mami, this friend, how did she look like? Can you tell me?"

Mami's breathing comes harder. Ignoring the question, she picks up at her teacup instead. "But it's cold..." she whispers.

Sabrina starts as she notices something: Across from Mami's seat, there's one more teacup on the table, sitting there half empty, as if left in a hurry...

A sharp intake of air from beside her, Homura, is her only warning before a vice-like grip pushes down at her shoulder, a sudden prescence standing in between the two surprised magical girls.

"Why?" The honeyed voice whispers in her ear, "there's no need for descriptions." On her other side, Sabrina can feel a soft weight, something smooth and long and feathery settling in against her arm. "If you wanted to meet me," Sabrina's head slowly turns towards the voice, "I'm right here."

If we do get tracked down, we'll know our pre-awakening identity, so it might not even be a bad thing.
Having the Yakuza knock down the door is not an ideal way to find out that we have a pre-awakening identity. We shouldn't leave any trace of our presence if we can avoid it, and in this case it's easy enough to scrub the fingerprints.

Nope. Fuck this! I'm out! *BLAM!*
Sabrina's head slowly turns towards the voice, "I'm right here."

Sabrina suddenly jumps towards the voice, dislodging the vice grip on her shoulder, and shoves the intruder aside. Homura barely has a second to widen her eyes before Sabrina grabs at her arm with both hands and pulls away.

Before anybody can understand what's happening, Sabrina takes her prize consisting of Homura's Shield, puts her on her own arm, and spins it. "Nope. Fuck this! I'm out!," are her last words before she vanishes.

We are all going to be laughing as the world burns around us.

Regarding the rifle, we should keep it in a grief ball, like the Feather earlier. We should also take a nice amount of ammo and practice putting together a Grief gun later with Warehouse-kun.

we can just crash feathers by shouting mom XD

[] I could disassemble it. Store it in my grief... Though, now that I think about it, I could probably just make my own gun. Bullets are still a problem though. At least for now.
[] Hey Homura. Do you know a girl named Sasa Yuuki?
-[] Explain Sasa Yuuki to Homura if she doesn't.
--[] Her powers fit the odd witch behavior. Though if she's behind it, you still have no idea why she'd go after Sayaka.
--[] Tomorrow, you're going to see if you can locate her. If she became a magical girl... well, you'll cross that bridge when you get to it.

Grief balls work because everything we've stored in them has been small enough to go into our bag without much trouble. A rifle would fit, but would take up a large volume.

I'm not sold on the utility of carrying a gun at all. It won't stop a Witch alone, or anything on a similar scale. Bullet wounds could inconvenience a meguca, but it would take overkill to down one like say, what Homura did to Oriko. About all we can hope for is to shoot soul gems. Lethal options like that are even more restrictive than range or if we can't use powers.

I'm for the "Pistol for Antimagic, Grief aim-botting gun with real bullets for Range" idea. Plus, you know, most rifles use a .22 caliber, same as many pistols, so we won't even have to carry around two different types of ammo.

While often sufficient against regular humans, a .22 round is probably insufficient for the types of opponents we'd need to resort to regular firearms against. Larger rounds, preferably hollow point (to increase physical damage to reduce enemy meguca mobility), makes more sense, since we can use a meguca's superior strength to compensate for recoil.

Mami and Homura were both consistently one-shotting familiars with bullets earlier, which is significantly better than nothing.

I think Oriko's proximate cause of (temporary) death was blood loss, just like for a vanilla human with a bad case of sudden-onset lead poisoning. Maybe it'd take more bullet/shorter range/more time to take effect than one would expect, but my guess is that most of our kind are still reasonably susceptible to having all their blood leak out.
Besides, if it comes to that, being shot in the head should, with a bit of luck, be debilitating but nonlethal against another meguca. (Also, much easier than hitting the gem).

You crack open your eyes and look at the intruder.

It's a girl, dressed in a chestnut red sailor uniform. Vaguely, you recognize it as the school uniform for Shirome.

Rather more attention grabbing, however, is her light grey hair and sea-green eyes. One aristocratic eyebrow is arched at you, and an amused smirk tugs at her lips.

Oriko.

"Hello, Sabrina."

You jerk upright in your seat, banging your shin against the seat in front of you, and scream a little -OK, maybe a lot-, inside your head. Your heart thunders in your chest, and you think your eyes are probably the size of dinner plates right about now.

There's a little high pitched 'eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee' noise escaping your mouth.

Deep breaths.

Deep breaths, Sabrina.

Calm down. You are calm. You are stillness. You are the placid mountain lake in the dead of winter.

Deep breaths.

Through it all, Oriko watches with that damnable not-quite-smirk on her face. Because smirking would be too unrefined.
"Excuse me?"

A voice came from behind her, a girl's voice, calm and polite. "Do you know where I can find Kirika Kure?"

Kirika smirked slightly, and turned. "Well, I'm not sure why you'd wanna look for heeeeeeeeee-"

Her dun-yellow eyes met sea-green ones. They traveled up and down the newcomer, picking out the silvery hair pulled into a sidetail, the small, almost vacant smile, the long legs, the slim shoulders, the voluptuous proportions… before traveling back to the eyes again.

Kirika was only vaguely aware of the "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" sound she had been making for a solid eight seconds. She felt that same warm feeling in her chest that she'd felt in the store. The girl, for her part, only smiled more broadly.
Mind, that might just be Oriko's natural effect on the brain damaged...

Huh...

And sheesh, that first meeting with Oriko still makes me cringe. Really a wasted opportunity not to mention a little embarrassing. I still don't really get the rationale as to why acting like that was a good idea.

We were shadowderping hard. We also didn't like the idea of Oriko calling for Kirika at the time. Mind you we thought Kirika still had her canon moveset.

If you read the first part of the quest, Sabrina had ALL THE PARANOIA for Oriko.
