You know, I'm just waiting for the Philosophers we're sending to Not!Germany/Austria to cause them to unite and become our greatest enemy in Europe (not outside it though, that'll probably stay the Not!Dutch or Not!Portuguese...)

Just because I'm pretty sure that's one of the more likely results of this...

You are taking your most radical preachers and scholars and pointing them at the worst collective violation of the idea of a social contract between nobility and peasants around and giving them funding to go talk to people about the Inherent Rights of Man, and maybe also money to buy guns.

Somewhat, but much of the more deeply layered innuendo has faded with changing circumstances. Gun and cannon innuendo is popular, and in recent years all the talk about the bank has spurred discussion about 'growth' and 'financial instruments'.

I'm not against sending philosophers to places, but I'm annoyed that we're about to subsidize yet more people. Can't we at least make them live off the land?
