Next time we get a lot of passive policies, stick 1 or two to agriculture/econ-drip.
We would've had so much use for it these couple of turns.
We've also got so much use for Skulduggery Policy. And so much use for Vassal Support. And so much use for extra City-Support. And so much use for Diplomacy Policy.

ALL the policies are useful. The only question is which policies are MOST useful. And at the moment signs point to "not agriculture".

One day, nomads will attack someone other than us when we're at war with that nation.

One day...
Probably never gonna happen.

Nomads attack the people who would give the most loot/glory, and Take the Crown CB is basically maximum glory, and multiple True Cities is basically maximum loot.

Nomads will always go for us unless another nation is weak enough to be an easy loot piñata

I am not entirely convinced, but you do have a good point. What we need to do is influence them before our King pass, which will be four turns if we're lucky.
For either the Storm Ymaryn candidate, or the Forhuch candidate we would need to influence the Forhuch anyway. I don't see how going with the Forhuch candidate would benefit the Ymaryn if we just gain more problems by following the customs of the conquered nation. And more problems is what we would be doing by taking in a highly influential individual of the conquered(Forhuch) nation. We would either be granting them hope for a takeover of the Ymaryn through a line of Kings that doesn't exist in the Ymaryn, or an eventual civil war after the Forhuch feel slighted that the Ymaryn refuse to accept more of their traditions when they showed they were willing to marry an influential individual in the Forhuch.

And using the influence subordinate in combination with marryng the Forhuch just doesn't seem to be a strong ehough combination if that means we would be neglecting the western colonies that might be easily gobbled up by the Storm Ymaryn. If we can assimilate the Storm Ymaryn by marrying them, or increase our influence with our westen colonies by marrying the Storm Ymaryn.

I see benefits from the Storm Ymaryn, what would we gain from the Forhuch marriage? Other than an illusion of a safe harbor? Peace for ever? We would need to influence subordinate on them, and if we married the Storm Ymaryn we would have to play influence subordinate on the Forhuch anyway. How are the Forhuch a better choice?

That did happened during Rulhuthyn's reign, with the nomadic hordes clobbering over the Metal Workers and the Thunder Speakers. Our hero even killed their king using longship raids.

Then why do the Ymaryn need to marry the Forhuch if the Forhuch will follow the strong Ymaryn anyway?
Blood ties matter at this point in time. Having a foreign king with no ties to you is bad. Having a king who married into one of your tribes, on the other hand, is perfectly acceptable.

We don't need to do it to get their loyalty, in theory, but it makes it hell of a lot easier in the future.

Then why do the Ymaryn need to marry the Forhuch if the Forhuch will follow the strong Ymaryn anyway?

Mostly because they're likely to be a lot less impressed with Alyxunmyn's successor, and we'd rather hold that territory for more than a single king's reign.

Omake points I like:

- Putting mods on standby
- "Please vassalize us, quick!"

Omake points of possible improvement:

- Seems to almost shift to Alyxunwyn's POV sometimes. Maybe more "Fotharmin consulting with underlings" scenes?

Well, I do only have Alyx's pov to work with, so that is somewhat going to bleed in. But I also didn't want to drag that last part out. Their death was swift, and I kinda wanted to show that there was no glorious last stand, no epic defiance.

Just a hundred thousand bolts descending, and then death.

Also, it would take too much effort to write the underlings with what little we know of Forhuch culture. And I'm too lazy for that. :V
