I mean, I explicitly voted to attack Trelli with the intent of a land grab and only switched to supporting the slaves because it had a massive majority and did basically the same thing.
Not that I agree with you, but thank you for being forthright.

...Khem being too far? Did you forgot the god damned fact that we FOUGHT A WAR WITH THEM?
Yea and we won, They'd be insane to start another one over this and it'd be logistically hard on them because of the distance. It'd require great stupidity in Khem's leadership to war us, given that last war's result *massive death and us officially winning*

No. They aren't. however, that doesn't mean they wanted a foreign invasion. They would have likely been satisfied with aid in the form of food and weapons.

That's nice... but still fundamentally suicidal. As far as they are concerned there is nothing stopping the Ymaryn from doing exactly what they ask for, withdrawing, making white peace and watching as the slaves face bloody repression such as they have never seen before.

This was a clusterfuck and the Trelli will see us coming from a mile away now and we made ourselves look like opportunistic vipers to the world(Khem).

Well, we kinda can be opportunistic vipers.
Good that they will notice that we are bipolar half-martyrs half-murderous lunatics.
I mean, if I were playing Khem, I would now consider wiping out Ymaryn just to not deal with Ymaryn bullshit anymore.

To be honest I have no idea how their still alive right now, based on AN's post they REQUIRE our trade and Khem's but their not only surviving without our trade, but also a slave rebellion.

Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

We fought to a draw with Genius General too.
SV is arrogant and dismissive of every not-protagonist unless QM beats it out of questers; look at WSiA for example.

They got a lot of our tech now. I wouldn't count on it being easy.

Its not really arrogance (Especially in the case of the former comment that you quoted off me since AN LITERALLY said that they RELY on trade with US AND KHEM)
It is literally the case of stupidity mixed with insanity for Khem to war us.

And you guys wanna know the best part of this? We have no choice but to take the land grab and seize trelli for ourselves, because if we don't they have the ability to completely screw up our trade and affect our dominances, which then leads to stability drops!

Its not even that bad, we literally didn't even lose anything
Lessee.

The Khemetri and Metal Workers pulled out of the games, costing us 2 Diplo per turn and probably a lot more in terms of broader diplomatic consequences.

We are now in a war with Trelli that we can't gain anything out of without losing a significant amount of legitimacy, and no hint so far on being able to restore trade anytime soon.

Philosopher Kings costs us 5 stats a turn, and means Tech and Mysticism are now going to be much harder to keep at max since they have negative income.

We've got pirates again.

And the only silver lining is that we get a bunch of income from our new Value, offset nicely by the fact that we will be losing stability any time one of our dominances are challenged.

So tell me again how "we literally didn't even lose anything"?

Eh *shrug* Once we've conquered the Trell strait we get a new friend or two <3 <3 to invite to our games <3 <3 once everyone has forgotten how we attacked that one guy we invited to our games <3 <3 in approximately 20 turns <3 <3 or with a guarantee that we won't attack them as long as they don't practice chattel slavery or suffer a slave rebellion that will prompt us to act <3 <3

disagree
educated upper class is 100% worth it
all we need to do is invest more in libraries and gymnasiums, which infrastructure will partially do

That can change in a couple of centuries.

Inb4 degrading wonder.

Let's work out on how to fix this problem.

Why ever would we do that? We're going to be rich!
Well, for one:
We are currently leading or dominating in 9 goods. For each good we lose, we take a stability hit. If we don't regain a lost good within a turn or declare war on the one who caused us to lose dominance, we take another stability hit. It is designed to break nations that have more than two trade goods.
It's also a terrible narrative to have guiding your civ. It's effectively stating: Greed is Good. These things aren't just stats, numbers, or functions. They affect how everything is framed and the actions our people take that we don't choose. Do we really want greed to be a basic concept?
How so? The trait is extremely nice and we can afford that cost pretty easily given our incomes. Sure, it was an obvious pick, but it still ended up beautifully.

People, calm down before we get yet another thread lock.
Given how horrible this damned turn was its going to be mountains of salt. Especially since people will most likely double down and go for a land grab.

Yea and we won, They'd be insane to start another one over this and it'd be logistically hard on them because of the distance. It'd require great stupidity in Khem's leadership to war us, given that last war's result *massive death and us officially winning*
...Really? You call that winning? The Khemri didn't have iron and shit like that and we only 'won' because the prince thought it was a better idea than continuing to prosecute a war that'll only drain both our nations. And we only managed a technical 'win' with a fucking Genius general and better military tech.

Military tech that the Khemri would damn well have made good on.

We take the strait that's a pretty big benefit that cancels out number 2, the pirates are simple to take care of,
I mean most of these are pretty minor problems
Hell Philosopher King doesn't even touch our wealth or mysticism merely lowers the income by 1 and 3 respectively

That's nice... but still fundamentally suicidal. As far as they are concerned there is nothing stopping the Ymaryn from doing exactly what they ask for, withdrawing, making white peace and watching as the slaves face bloody repression such as they have never seen before.
That's why I'm voting for "[War] It'll work out". Not like it will ever happen, of course; but it is what I'm voting for.

Yeah, I was honestly surprised by it but I wasn't going to argue too much. I don't even want to expand much more, just being locked in our lake like that was not something that could last long-term. However, I honestly was not expecting to lose iSoO. That's definitely the biggest loss of this turn, even moreso than the war (well, so far. The war might go long if the Trelli start getting supported by the Khem)

Philosopher Kings is nice, but not 3 stats/turn nice (assuming standard 2 Mysticism refund)edit: 2 stats/turn, tech refunded as well. and definitely not worth 1 stability/turn in addition to the 2 stats/turn.

edit: Actually it's probably 2 stats/turn. Ignoring narrative it's not that bad, though damn is our Stability going to take a beating if we lose dominances. With narrative I'd much rather have iSoO than RoG.

He is one of local warmongers, effectively losing one of Wonders which cemented alliance with a peer power is probably a win in his book.

Shit responding to like 4 posters at once is tiring, fuck it, i'll respond to you all collectively tomorrow sometime. 'night
