Anyone know what cost us Stability this turn (the refugees were last turn) or why we didn't get an upgrade/action from finishing the Docks megaproject? (Literally every other megaproject has given us one IIRC)

Anyway, I'm happy with any genius and think we should save the Culture cost. I'm surprised that we're allowed to use the [Guild] action on Glassworks to complete the quest but I'm not gonna complain.

[X] [GA] Gain random genius (-15 Culture)
[X] [FC] Redshore
[X] [FC] Redhills
[X] [Diplo] Tie everything together internally (Main Build Roads)
[X] [React] Continue work on the Place to the Stars (5/7-8 actions completed)

Hmmm.
Tally!

So a bit low on the voter pop. Our Thread population explosion ended. Oh noes!

Anyhoo if I understand how AN is doing things then this is the winning vote:

[GA] Gain random genius (-15 Culture)
-[GA] Specify: Admin genius (Additional -3 Culture)
[FC] Redhills
[FC] Redshore
[Diplo] Tie everything together internally (Main Build Roads)
[React] Continue work on the Place to the Stars (5/7-8 actions completed)

Not quite what I voted for but it's still good. Very much "The Dragon Sleeps".

On the first thing we are getting a genius admin. I have no idea what this will look like other than awesome, and our clerks are finally getting the nice things they deserve. Picking this person up will also help deal with the two FC's we are popping out. Also vassal connections and general admin stuff, I'd expect to see some bonuses from this genius working with Tor-chan.

A little sad we aren't attempting a Diplo Geinus who could fork into Intrigue too according to WoAN but I'll live.

Now on the FC's themselves I don't think it is the wisest idea to make two at once, but I have no arguments about the actual choices here. The new policies they spawn will be super nice. I'm currently expecting another infrastructure from Redshore and Industry from Redhill. They will also lessen our Econ drain nicely and reduce admin issues so that our king's brains don't explode.

Romance is shooting a flock of sheep for criminal aesthetic deficiency.
With a spud gun.

And then we are working on trails. With our admin person this will have many nice things and cements this vote combo as us focusing inward again which I like. I'm actually hoping for a road innovation from our admin genius here if we do get him.

And then PttS has a good chance to finish with Tor-chan aiding the actions. Also Khemetri are total bros for helping us out. (they probably want to really really badly be on our side so we don't rock drop them)

So all in all, good combo in my opinion.

A town or city? And where? Which season? And in what attire?
preferably a midrange coastal town of ~20k people in size.
a boardwalk ~2 miles long. Either coastal or along a sizable lake; river boardwalks usually feel too chaotic unless they're in the middle of a city and you bought the churro from a food cart.
Preferably winter; the cold gives you an excuse to cuddle.
As a result, thickish but nice woolen jackets, at least one scarf that gets traded back and forth, gloves in pockets because holding hands w/ gloves is uncomfortable. Depending on economic status and age of relationship, lower body has either slacks (young relationship) or jeans (comfortable w/ each other).

Alright. Let me clarify, then.

The last time were at Yellow Centralization was before we finished the Palace Megaproject. At the time, we had massive admin strain and were barely keeping our nation together. However, upon finishing the Capital Palace, we saw our entire administrative system revamped. This included changing how Provinces were organized (they got bigger), how actions were organized (they got bigger), and improving our ability to administrate our polity.

Now. We know that our administrative burden was massively lessened, but we don't actually know how much. Since this structural change happened, we've never actually raised centralization enough to experience actual strain to the system. This is very fortunate in that it means we've got plenty of room, but somewhat unfortunate in that we don't know how much room and therefore can't easily plan for the future. For example, we know that every True City decreases our Cent Cap by one... but how bad is that? If our current cent cap is 15, we don't care at all. If it is 10, we maybe care a touch, but not much. If it is 5, it is probably a good thing we are making some Free Cities this turn.

Does that make things clear?

Patricians: Oh, how I hate these Patricians. One again, they are offering basically nothing in terms of demands, threatening a lot, and demanding a LOT. If we had to do it by hand, building a Governor's Palace would cost a whooping 9 Culture + 9 Econ, plus three secondaries worth of actions. Thankfully, we do have our infrastructure passive policies to help, so we should be able to do it cheaper - only paying 3 Culture + 3 Econ and one secondary ourselves, and using 6 of a turn's 7 passive policy infrastructure progress points to finish up the project. Frankly, I'm of a mind to make this fail too, though I suppose I could live with us doing it by spending 1 secondary.
I kind of want to make it fail the same turn we make the urban poor action succeed.

We do not get it from literally every megaproject; only Land Management megaprojects, which I don't believe the Docks count as.

Also, even if we could have gotten +1 stability, 3 is the cap so it wouldn't actually do anything. Maybe it would give us +1 prestige or something?

Well, we're currently at 5 True Cities and 3 is still white Centralization, so 3+4 isn't yellow without True Cities. We can go up to 6 safely once we've formed the free cities, given that, and that might tell us more.

The Stability Cost is what triggered iStO, we wouldn't have gained stability from megaproject completion, I know that.

And we get actions/upgrades from every megaproject.
edit: As examples, Games was Upgrade Best of the Best to Life of Arete, then International Games was Upgrade Cosmopolitan Acceptance
It looks like we didn't get anything from Palace, though we did get the free passive policy. Census was Streamline lower bureaucracy (+1 Passive Policy), and for The Law (Iron Age) we grabbed Upgrade government to Classical Elective Monarchy

Those were two separate questions.

Hah! We're the American Irish!
Chakur from the Hawks a couple dozen updates back described us as restraining great passions. We either did one thing, or another with no inbetween.

Reminds me of pre-Reform Vulcans to be honest. Or Eldar.

I'd say American Irish fits rather well.
