You know, I'm guessing that this might be the start of AN revealing to us that this is indeed a low magic fantasy world and the fact that there were materialist explanations for most seemingly supernatural phenomena was sort of a red herring to get us complacent.

Because he must have known we'd not vote to listen to the astrologers. And there probably will be a consequence to the knee feel vote.

The astrologer vote is winning by a fairly large margin.

This is not good. We currently have a total stat drip of +23(24). We only have 14 stats left before things start overflowing into Martial, leaving us an excess of 9(10) stats. Unless we start doing things which take up lots of stats, bad things are going to happen.

Personally, I can't wait for us to reach the genetic engineering age at which point I can start pushing for the universal application of eugenics, cybernetic implants to establish telepathy and true democratic voting, the establishment of post-mortal virtualization procedures to establish a secular afterlife, and the disassembly of our solar system into a ringworld. *laughs wildly*

Actually, we have fewer stats left than that; per my math we should be maxed on tech too, and at like 12 diplo... AN hasn't responded to that part of our conversation yet, though, so its possible i messed something up...but if so we'd have to have like 8 costs to tech, mysticism, and culture that i missed...

I kinda wish veekie would come on so he can give his opinion on the vote. If it turns out my vote is a bad idea, I can change my vote, and if it turns out my vote is a good idea, he can convince others to vote with me.

That's surprising. I was probably going to vote against astrology just to see f it's real or not.
A lot of people don't care about war with the HK, others think that AN is giving us a path to get rid of the Nemesis Fashion DB, and the third part believes that accepting Astrology would be good for Love of Wisdom.

I personally voted against accepting Astrology for a multitude of reasons.

The problem, as has been pointed out, voting against or for following the prediction doesn't cleanly prove if it's real or not. If we ignore it and bad things happen that just proves that their prediction is right. If we follow it and good things happen that proves their prediction is right.

You can try to apply OOC knowledge and ignore the prediction because fortunetelling is bunk, but it's arguable following the prediction is a better test within the scientific method than disregarding it. In this case, you're trying to refute your hypothesis that fortunetelling is bunk.

[X] Yes (Forfeits the CB against the Highlanders, declares war against the Thunder Horse, brings Yenyna out of retirement, ???)

I voted against Astrology because the voices in my head told me to.

Funny. After the adoption debacle, I tend to always vote the opposite. ;)

That is actually why many of us are voting for it.

It is much harder for everything to go perfectly in the next five turns that the 'prophecy' assumes.

The best way to test a theory is to try and falsify it. And it implied that if we didn't listen, things would go badly, not just not perfectly.

I love how my version of the vote, w/ the random bolding, has become the one that y'all are using. top lel
