Right now we have a chance to stop them, one that doesn't have guaranteed war involved. I'm taking it, and I'm sticking to it.Seems to me like east post+boats plus mercs next turn would be as good preparation as any?
Before they get the ball rolling? They're way past that! They've subjugated or enslaved all their neighbors and sold the proceeds! They have mercenary armies running around everywhere! They're already rolling. And they can send all of them at us in one turn if we do something to make them panic, like threatening the tin that keeps their mercs equipped.
I think it's almost exactly like the Lowlanders. We can sit on the east side of the sea, and we really won't be worth their time and effort considering how dangerous we can be on our own turf. We survived just fine before we discovered the Trelli and we don't need them now. We have other trade partners, and megaprojects, and expansion options.
I'm going to smother Rome in the Crib
