Another long work period trying to hit the deadline, yuck. At least I have 30 pages of fancy to look forward to...
Who needs gunpowder when you have modboxes?
Wow, ManusDomine, how indepth your knowledge has become :p
How long until you become a convert to Ymarynian politics and cast a vote?:D

You would basically be the King to our Valleyhome!:ogles:
Noting also that the more intense you make the breeding program the more inbreeding(meaning disease vulnerability, fertility loss) is going to happen to make it work
How much you want to bet that that is going to be a future decision once others discover horseriding as well? Do we stick to slow and steady or do we breed flaws into warhorses?
Husband or no, any prince married to a Ymaryn queen would be a prince-consort.
That does remind me of the Metal Workers. I wouldn't say no to having her marry their prince to eat them...

Why not both? Have dedicated warhorse lines but breed them out again into a slow pop. And then breed that slow pop. in with the best members.

Phew, finally got a chance to catch back up. Why not do some analysis/speculation on a vote that's pretty much decided?

[] Forge a new path of war
This turns mini hero into a horse riding warrior on the front lines. I feel like with a combination of BotB and teenage girl horse couriers, this will probably lead us to develop some sort of elite cavalry unit that's exclusively female due to the current evolutionary limits of our horses. Great for gender equality, great for martial, great for protection from corruption assassinating our hero.

[] Begin diplomacy with the Highlanders
Gives us a chance to steal the Highlander's junior hero's skills with our junior hero. Also probably drags us into Highlander politics, and Highlanders into our politics. I don't like this option simply because getting sucked into a third potential war front sounds like a recipe for disaster right now.

[] Run away to the north
Remember how Gwy's kid was most likely responsible for the Thunder Horse? This is the option if we want to do that again. Also means the development of horse riding in the Steepes originates from us.

[] Attempt to finish her mother's work
Mini hero goes scientist. I consider this to be the most high risk option, because we don't even know what exactly Lolwyna was studying when she blew herself up. Potential science innovation, which is always nice, but it might not even be something we could use right now considering Lol had low diplomacy and was a bit on the esoteric side. Also, potentially scars mini hero for life if she gets caught in the same kind of explosion as mom. Also, this option leaves mini hero most open to assassination, because she isn't learning frontline combat skills, and I'm assuming this research would be taking place in the capital. I feel like she's smart enough to keep around a guard or two, but it's still something to keep in mind.

That being said, I want warrior ladies on horses. They're probably going to be speed focused, and I really want to see what they'd kill people with.

hhhhhhh athetsics verses science and sentiment
Speaking as someone who knows @ManusDomine outside SV, he really wants to participate, but as the thread's assigned moderator he can't. Conflict-of-interest rules.
oh wow that burns raw

like negative 10000 degrees bunring ice raw heavily salted sashimi in your eyes raw

Nope. A distillery exploding is an actual danger if improperly handled even for small ones. I'm no expert myself, but friends of mine do distil and talked about it. And the amount they distil at a time is maybe 100l (that is, how much goes into it at once, they refill multiple times).

Assuming that a larger vessel is easier to build with the tools available, she may have been able to blow it up like that.
100 liters is a very large amount to distill in the bronze age however. Assuming you're starting from wine.
A distillery explosion is usually steam-based, which can set alcohol on fire after/during the explosion as the hot distillation equipment shrapnels. In her case, maybe alcohol and other things, even other pressurized vessels. Not typical but actually very plausible given that she's working from basically inferior materials and no knowledge of chemistry. She wouldn't necessarily take the danger seriously enough. Normally people build up too much pressure by mistake, she might do it just to see what happens.
Yeah, doing it to see what happens is 100% Lolwyna,
That annoys me a little, I was assuming strike would get me images of the bolt so I was going through synonyms for impact.
Alright on inspection, these aren't all that useful.
I feel that we can discard the possibility they are talking about a Fulgurite because I don't think anyone could survive something obviously comparable to a mass of sand used into a single rock.
Fulgurites are usually only finger sized.
But generally what we have to go on are:
-Something causing an unusual burn(steam, incendiaries, volatile liquids, caustic liquids)
-Something which can crack or shatter rock or ceramic(explosions, pressure)
Has anyone addressed why western wall got 5 actions? I hadn't noticed till now.
Mentioned long before that colonies can have their own provinces.

Can't really be helped, the more intense the selection pressure, the more you have to sacrifice on other qualities to breed your desired qualities in.
...goddamn they are experimenting at making chainmail?
Scale mail is scales(aka large sequins) of metal riveted or sewn into a piece of leather. It's a fair bit more protective than leather or wicker armor, but early versions had poor coverage and limited mobility even if it was pretty light.

Chainmail is FAR more advanced, as metal linked into a metallic fabric.
Everyone by now do know that we use Iron, right?
Funny enough our relative isolationism is going to have people see unusual amounts of iron, but not quite enough to know for sure.

I have a feeling that all the cultures around us would be very resistant to the idea of a woman participating in a battle in any form, unlike us. Because of this they'll first have to breed horses strong enough to actually carry a man for them to invent horse riding. We on the other hand are okay with woman being in battle so we don't have to breed our horses bigger, we can just breed them to have more stamina (they'll have to breed for two things, size+stamina. We only have to breed for one). To me this seems like a huge advantage, by the time others breed horses to be big enough that the idea of riding them occurs we'll have already been breeding our warhorses for a while. And seeing as how we're already using woman messengers in battle all it would take is one woman using a bow to defend herself and our generals will start thinking that maybe there are other ways these warrior women can be used.

Pretty sure nomads are pretty good on gender equality. They won't have any problem with women couriers.

Rulwyna isn't even the only courier, right? So, while we probably won't get another hero option unless we get insanely lucky, I think we'll still get later choices to encouragement development in that direction.

The tech is there to stay, so it's bound to be expanded automatically like our prior chariot couriers. I'm more interested in getting riders carrying bow/arrow to rapidly deploy and redeploy with horse speed. (Not horse archers, just archers using horse to move.)

Much less demand on riders and horses = more number.

Aren't the nomads into wife raiding?

My understanding is that Nomad thought process is Might = Right.

So no preestablished law/idea to hold anything if there isn't anyone strong enough to hold it up.

If you are strong and is female, no problem.
If you are strong and is male, no problem.
If you are weak and is the 2nd coming of Patrikwos, problem if you can't fight.

Yes, though by their measures of strength being strong AND female is rather unlikely
