...Wait, then what part of this are you arguing about, if you agree with tryrar's tally?
...Please read my initial statement
Okay, there may need to be some clarification. That's 21 voting to kick Saltern, 11 specifically voting against as well as the remainder not adding it to their votes. @Academia Nut How would you parse this?
I wanted clarification since this sort of situation hasn't happened before. Tryrar presented one way the votes could be interpreted, I proposed a different one.

The only thing I wanted was to ensure that there was no confusion so this argument didn't pop up...

;_;

Satisfied?

Sivantic never disagreed with the tally.

Just how to count an abstinence from voting. Personally I think this argument is silly.

Moving on.

Tryrar views it as a case of not voting for kick meaning that it simply is not counted either way, a Null if you will. This is normal voting method. In this method you have votes Yes/Did Not Vote/No, Did Not Vote counting for neither and disappearing into the ether.

Sivantic viewed it as an opt-in vote(which honestly no-one seemed to directly address). I'm not fully sure what that entails, but my understanding is that in a opt-in vote situation where you have options Yes/Did not Vote/No, Not Voting for something is defaulted to being a vote for No.

I will call you on this right now @tryrar, Sivantic's logic is valid and so is yours. Different voting styles and situations.

My opinion is this argument is stupid and should not have happened, we should have waited for clarification. I support neither side because of mutual salt generation and continuing a, from my view point, pointless argument.

Hey, shit happens and you gotta just clean it off. My suggestion for next time is the instant it becomes hostile you just ask clarification from AN again, specifically asking which is accurate and then don't respond at all. Arguments require two sapients.

Not mad at you or tryrar but this shit in general is annoying.

One better:

HERE INTERNET BEING! HAVE THIS UBER-HUGGER 9000!

Guaranteed to salve your stress by literally crushing it out of you.

Also with the internet in general my SOP is to just bow the fuck out of arguments if they get too much for me. Sometimes I agree with the person when I bow out, some times I don't and often I think I'm being needlessly stupid and hostile and just stop.

I'd have phrased it like this "Hey AN? Is this parsed like A or is it B? To everyone else I'm going to bow out now until AN responds because I don't want to get into an argument." If they try to incite after that just walk away from the thread for a bit. Go read All Things Devoured or something.

Ah, that makes more sense. I thought that you wanted to add all votes except those who specifically said they wanted to kick to not kick, which is why I was a bit annoyed with you, since such a method would all but ensure that the only way to kick was that we had almost unanimous agreement to do so.

And thus the problem of this thread is revealed. Everyone assumes a lot of things implicitly without asking a thing in a calm fashion. It, from what I have seen, takes about two posts on either side for you folks to just drop right into talking right the hell past each other.

Nearly every single vote so far since the Tax Hell has included such implicit assumptions.

Remember the Golden Rule #59: Ask for clarification before you make an ass out of you and me.

There are also pure ideological differences. Good luck changing those without high explosives or a FooF fire.

It's a combo of that that set the thread on fire so bad it got locked.

See ya~

I'd say a clf3 fire, but I'll admit FooF is worse, which is really saying something!

It's the internet. That really can't be helped without dozens of extra pages explaining really basic stuff before any discussion ever occurs. Hell, I showed my thought process multiple times using tallies and giving examples, so it wasn't just a case of not asking this time. We were just too caught up in what we thought the other person was arguing.

Tl;dr- Writing is an incredibly shit means of communication alone. :V

We're likely gonna 1 turn The Garden regardless of kick.

If you are caught up. Stop. And take a breath.

And it really really is.
I felt that I wasn't getting caught up. I kept my post pretty thorough on why and how I saw it, with multiple examples of how the votes could work (though I was using a shit tally, so there was that). In which case, I really didn't see a need to stop so long as me and Siv were being respectful of each other, which as far as I can see looking over our post, we both were.

While that is true, you were still participating in it when it was getting heated between them and Tryrar. Like I told him you should have dropped out and not, from my view, well meaningly put more fuel on the fire.

Really though I don't think this is important any more, so how about we let it go?

It only really got really heated towards the end, so... eh? Maybe that's just due to me being involved, but it was only that last page that went overboard imo. Still, yeah, I'll let it go.
We haven't even started the Saltern, but the salt is already flowing.
We might not need to kick the saltern at this rate, all that extra salt providing so much extra econ...

Um....
Copper mine when? It does not cost Stability, making Maining it hilariously good, maybe even double Maining it for +6 Econ and all the copper.

I mean, I get the reasoning behind the current winning vote and agree with it, but I want more Stability (yes, I am going to be anal about staying at 2+ Stability because I am a paranoid fuck who thinks comets and yet new plagues are just waiting around the corner to jump us when we are not ready and we've been hilariously lucky with cholera crits which is not reliable) two more provinces, Festivals (because cultural drift is a major issue) and copper mine.
