@Velorien will open voting and announce whether it's starting immediately from the end of this update, or 8 days later as people arrive in Pangolin, or some other point. Once that's known I'll update the XP awards.
Once we know how many days have been spent, would it be possible to know the results of the sealing research?
Any spare downtime:
  • Scribe any needed skywalkers
  • Research in order:
    • Goo bombs (withhold SSA if Hazou thinks it's faster.)
    • Higher Velocity Macerators.
    • Do 1 day of prep on Dragon's Roar Seal to gauge difficulty. (Resolve attacking seal akin to Dragon's roaring effect on Hazou.)

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh not to back-seat quest since I didn't take part in this last planning phase but are we not at all worried about the BOSS SUMMON of a clan coming to deal with us personally having probably some way to deal with us in the sky? Let alone just a sufficient mass of hyenas possessing giant death laser beams that we've already seen displayed with Summon Path jutsu?

I mean... we did try diplomacy, but the Hyena Boss decided not to help us. If they appear, then we MARS the hell out of them.

Hopefully, between Hazou's reputation on the 7th Path, and an entire pack of Hyenas disappearing (signs of battle, but no bodies) will be enough to ward them away. If not... well, that's what we're churning out seals for.

Did one of Hazou's clones get the chance to do any seal research while the Dogs were in Leaf? Or were they too busy scribing seals?
Hazō didn't feel comfortable taking time off to do seal research right now. He's having some survivor guilt, and some "I failed my responsibility as security guy" guilt, and he's hypersensitive to the grief and pain of the dogs around him. They continue to be at risk until he gets them to Pangolin and he needs the skywalkers to accomplish that, so doing anything other than maximum effort on scribing enough skywalkers feels awful.

Prepping for this possibility was in the most recent plan, imo any player effort that could be done in that direction has been done already

For regular Hyenas chakra diffusion means that targeting anything from a mile away is basically a non-starter. That'd be like Range:20+, it's just not something jutsu does.

In addition, they can't see where the party is. At the altitude of a mile, the skytower isn't visible from the ground.

The Boss is different, but like, we can't do anything about that if she shows up. Assuming she can fly or has the super-duper long range justu it's gg everyone.

It's like worrying about a meteor dropping on us. We can kinda prepare but we can't actually do anything about it. If Hyena boss wants us dead, we die.

We're probably safe from giant death lasers, but we simply can't be safe from a Boss in their territory. At least they do not fly, unless they have a jutsu for that, so being up there is the safest route at any rate. We could try and have some kind of MARS killzone, sure... But let's look at the possibilities.
1) it doesn't work (they tank it). we're screwed
2) it doesn't work (it could damage/kill them, but they can dodge). we're screwed
3) it works (and suddenly, there's another Boss). we're screwed
4) it works (the sky goes dark, the Hyenas are gxthsss). the entire Seventh Path wants us dead, we are royally screwed

While i agree that trying to kill the Hyena Boss is not a great idea, you missed a few possibilities. The new Boss might form, but it takes time instead of being instant (maybe a hyena has to 'grow' into it). The new Boss, with less experience with Boss abilities, might be wary of immediately chasing after the people who killed the last Boss. The Boss might not actually die (permanently), they just reincarnate at the geometric center of their territory. Etc. All of these would be a favorable outcome.

The process is kept deliberately secret, so really, anything that doesn't make the world look radically different is possible. Maybe when it is chosen that the last one would go, a new Boss grows from inside the juiciest strawberry of the territory. Maybe it's a genetic trait. Maybe there's a ritual. Maybe Batman is here. Sure there could be many things happening, but so far what we know is that there's probably a way of choosing who's the next Boss (but only Bosses know), and that when the Boss dies it can end the Clan (re: Archaeopteryx Clan). I kept the speculation to a minimum, and reasonably pessimistic - it's unsafe to assume that unknown processes related to the possible birth of, essentially, a god within their domain, what's more one who is specifically pissed off at us, would conspire to make us okay.
If attacked by the baddest bitch on the land (no offence, Dogs), our strategy should be the same as against Dragons: unsummon, posthaste

So, Canny I think just kinda is ending up the new pack leader, yes? Insofar as the pack has enough people to still count. But definitely some calm leadership after what happened, which I appreciate.

Are we making enough Skywalkers to sell some to the Tower afterwards? I remember us being behind in our dues.

Voting is open.

After 12 days of travel (8 in theory but Hazō's leg wound slowed them down) Hazō and the Horizon Chasers have reached Pangolin territory. You may find a safe place to camp out somewhere in Pangolin territory, or you may proceed directly to the Conclave. Please vote in your choice. @Paperclipped will be writing this Thursday update, so plan accordingly.

So Hazou is healed at this point?

Personally I'd like to spend the xp Hazou has and got from last update once that's tallied. I say we camp out first, do some training, and have Noburi and Kei meet up with us to travel together.

PSA: Minor retcon to chapter 579.

I missed the fact that @Paperclipped had named one of the puppies and one of the hunters. Names have been corrected to match established canon. I doubt you'll notice the difference.

Puppy is Canodo
Tracker is Cantal.

Fortunately, there will be no confusion between Cantal the hunter and Cantle the hunter because, y'know, Cantle is dead.

So Hazou gained 12xp, bringing him up to a total of 69xp. Given that they spent several days in Leaf, this should allow time enough for Hazou to train. I also think it would be in line with Hazou's characterization for grief to be a motivator towards improving his combat prowess, to try and prevent deaths from happening again.

[x] Hazou Training Plan: Medknow Notes and Substitution Training
Medknow 1 -> 10
Substitution 9 -> 10
General XP remaining 69 -> 59
Orochimaru's MedKnow notes #1 100 -> 46

XP AWARD: 60

Brevity XP: 10
We have XP totals for the most recent update

XP has been awarded. 70 total.
