I suppose we could always just find whoever we owe the debt to and blackmail them into forgiving it.

Hazo and Kaogme will be printing all day. Noburi will have to take mission.
Well there's Akane but I'm not super comfortable sending out less than 3 on a mission, at least not on any of the missions worth taking. Of course that could be a bit paranoid of me but we can't forget this is setting is basically a deathworld. Not to mention I would personally rather have Noburi putting all of his attention on training for the next month to become the Toad summomer as fast as possible.
We've still got another shipment of gold coming in that keeps us solvent in the short term, and expansion of Akane's family business is what we should do if we want to increase our income stream. I'm not sure how long it'll take to pay back our investment there, so it may not help us until well after we've either figured out the finances or everything exploded.

Incidentally, I'm wondering how much of our expenses are flexible. The renovations at least seem like the sort of thing we could pause if we really needed to, and if 3/4 of the monthly ryo is renovations then we could make do with leaky roofs and whatnot until we've secured enough income to invest in fixing the compound again. If renovations are only 1/4 of the monthly ryo, though, we can't really afford to not have the full amount of money each month.
These are good questions, the next plan should really focus on looking at the details and seeing what we can do to balance our books. The faster we can stabilize our money problems, the faster we can get back to planning for the election for the hat and see about getting the Snake scroll.

MfD has a Discord?

Anyway have we considered our income levels if Hazo and Kagome went full on on seal production, selling to the Tower?

Why Jiraiya have to lie to his favorite children
It looks like Jiraiya and Mari either overestimated the value of the Pangolin money, or Jiraiya siphoned away a lot to search for Naruto, but we've already been shown that paying for the estate wasn't fully complete.
Hazō tried not to sigh. "The pangolin gold was seed money. It paid off the estate—"

"Ehhhh," Mari-sensei said, see-sawing her hand back and forth.

"Whatever. It kept the creditors at bay, fixed the roof, and put food on the table, but we're not dependent on it forever.
I admit though, it does feel from what you and I found like it would be mostly paid off at this point, though. To go from 'this can pay off the estate' to 'the estate isn't paid off' to 'you still have to pay for most of the estate' would strike me as rather odd, even after leeway for exaggeration.

But then, we only currently know the monthly expenses, not how much of the principal remains or how long it'll take to finish it all off.

I have no real example to go by in quest, but generally the mortgage term lasts for decades right? The average in real life is apparently 30 years. For all we know the estate was being paid off "relatively" fast, as in "hey the whole compound and its repairs will be fully paid off in 5 to 10 years, that's really fast!" or something like that.

Mortgage terms are probably much shorter for ninja. Jiraiya, the best ninja alive, died within months of signing his. We didn't happen to pick up a thousand gallons of seawater to sell for salt, did we?

Your expenses are $400k / month.

I don't understand. How did Jiraiya manage to feel like money was mostly taken care of if he had those same expenses, plus spy network costs, plus expenses of finding Naruto, plus the exorbitant allowances he was giving all of us?

Or in other words, what are we currently spending all that money on?

He has 120K dollars float. Every member gets 3K dollars. So, the kids and kagome alone costs 12K. That brings us down to 108K leftover. Let's assume we need 5K for political slush fund, bringing down to 103K. Another 20K goes to intelligence dragnet. Another 20K goes to paying the salaries of his ANBUs. We have 63K leftover.

Those 63K dollars should had been invested in all sort of enterprise while we were away so that our income is diversified ASAP. Instead Mari sensei to have appeared to have done nothing.

Why can't we pay off the house by selling the ability to fly? The pangolins pay 500k for skytowers alone, right?
Was the plan. We where going to sell the pangolins toads and snakes skywalkers. They would then conquer the 7th path. As a precondition we where going to demand a Genova convention like pact. By controlling the supply of skywalkers and threatening to sell them to enemies the clan that defects we would be able to secure peace. Kei decided that she wanted to prioritize not feeling bad instead of ending genocide.

I really want to find out who owns our debt. Whatever group has got to be a power player in Leaf. They've gotten 1.5 million from us already for a property no one wanted to purchase. That's who I want in charge of our finances

That would be the bankers, a profession lot of people like to hate.

We can produce a seal every five minutes. 60 / 5 = 12. 12 * 8 = 96. 96 times 30 days equals 2880 seals.

400,000 divided by 2880 seals gives us the unit price of 138.89 per seal, which is the average price we need to achieve somehow and assuming that each seal is just that, one seal, not five for five seal barrier.

This is of course assuming the Tower has an insatiable demand for seals.

Honestly, I am more surprised that the rent of the house costs so much more than the search for Naruto did. I always got the impression that was where the majority of Jiraiya's concerns about the lack of funding came from.

Yeah. Who care about a clan compound or renovation when most if not all money should be going toward Naruto.
