This is like not allowing your little brother to talk to your big sister.
It's not like that, it is that. :) Keiko is older than Hazō by three weeks.

Unless I'm mistaken we've been told several times that destroying storage seals was a Bad Idea and could have deeply universe-destroying consequences.

Am I recalling this incorrectly?
When you destroy storage scrolls it is extremely rare for them to do anything except release their contents. You get some wonkiness if there isn't enough room for them to do so, but in the normal case it's wildly unlikely to destroy the world.

Of course, seals are unreliable and unpredictable, so...

I see, thanks.

Thread, execute Order 43. Unfettered use of storage seals and the destruction thereof is both authorized and encouraged.

It's always fun to see fights like these. It looks like the Nara have been having almost as interesting a time as us.

I wonder what exactly's going on with that Wood Element. I'm inclined to believe that it's a real thing, but not the actual factual Wood Element bloodline that Hashirama had. Perhaps Nara Technique Hackers cooperated with the Senju who married into their clan and created imitation Wood Element techniques that Shikamaru's been learning.

Nice. Goodbye, Hinata. Poor Ikeda. ISC continue trolling everyone with creative storage scroll usage.
  • I wonder whether Keiko's state of despair/rage during the day of her fight with Shikamaru makes her immune to their psychological warfare (you can't make her feel worse), or just causes her to throw the fight. Evidently she didn't maim or murder Shikamaru, otherwise we'd probably have heard about it...
    • Funny possibility: Shikamaru's plan was to negotiate her surrender, but she was itching to kill something, and so choose to crush him instead.
  • Now we can bond with Ikeda over losing by being set on fire. Do we have any OPSEC incidents that need covering up? Shall we make some to get an opportunity to use this opportunity?
I guess @Inferno Vulpix could just re-post our previous plan, if we are voting?

Plan reposted, just in case. I also optimized the wordcount a little and changed the name.

Word Count: 297
[X] Action Plan: Reasonable Handling of New Information.
  • Show the letter to Jiraiya
    • Help him find a clean shirt. In the process, quickly confirm conclusions:
      • The first letter was sent through a compromised courier:
        • Everyone important probably knows about it.
        • Implies that the second courier wasn't compromised.
      • This leaves us an opportunity to continue with the marriage, but signals that she'll drop it if we won't.
      • Testing whether the courier was compromised is a cover-up: the aggressive first message likely signals that she'd strongly prefer if we did play along.
    • If we run out of time, cover these later.
  • Tell Keiko and Noburi about the second letter. Pre-empt their concerns, this one's good news.
    • Let them voice their opinions.
    • Carefully ask Keiko's thoughts on the potential second meeting.
    • Finally get Noburi's full opinion on the situation.
  • Do something calming and rote to relax a little, like making explosives.
  • Help Keiko plan for her upcoming fight.
  • When Jiraiya returns, get his opinion of the letter/situation:
    • We need to send a letter soon, to at least cancel Ami's favour.
    • Should we accept the second meeting?
      • We could try to figure out if Ami really does want a political marriage with the Goketsu.
      • A walk across the bay would be pretty OPSEC-secure, and then a picnic on the shore.
      • We're still a bit shaken from recent events, any advice?
    • Is it still a bad idea to go outside?
  • Go watch the matches for today.
  • Verify Ami's story (if time permits).
    • Disguise: civilian.
    • Invent a backstory with Noburi. Ideas:
      • Writer interested in Mist's culinary history.
      • Secret police.
    • Visit a few restaurants. Inquire about their history, then ask about:
      • Connection between Byakuren's Cookbook and Experimental Cuisine.
      • Byakuren's Cookbook serving large groups of ninja.
    • Byakuren's Cookbook: name-drop Ami for regulars-only menu.
  • If anyone talks about Hazou and Ami: no comment.

Ikeda handled the judge's hype calls the way she handled all boring and unimportant buffoonery: stand at attention, put an expression of attentiveness on your face, and think about Miko. Miko and her long, silken locks that made you itch for the chance to run your fingers through them. Miko and her full lips, so naturally red that she hardly ever bothered with makeup and wouldn't it be so nice to—

If that's not Ami I'll eat my nonexistent hat.

@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Are we allowed to retroactively help Keiko plan for her semfinal match against Shikamaru, even though it's technically already happened?
I'll allow it on a one-off basis, since we timeskipped the afternoon after the date and it would have been a reasonable time to do so.

Note that this means you spent time closely interacting with Keiko right after the date.

Nonsense, she can't be everyone at the same time.

Or at least I wish I could have said. But Ami probably invented her own Shadow Clones technique, just like she invented her own CCnJ before we did.

So there are loads of Amis around and it explains why she has to many different personas and isn't quite sane anymore. That's what happens if you abuse Shadow Clones and give them a distinct personality each.

You know what else it explains? Zabuza. And how he is everyone and everywhere at the same time. She was gracious enough to share.

No, that's the point. If we're busy doing ambiguous other things that day it gives us an excuse to have not told her.
If Keiko loses to Shikamaru, it's going to be a political disaster, by my understanding. Worse: a political disaster Keiko will blame herself for.

Deciding to not retroactively help her is a strictly worse option, both from personal and global points of view.

From the chapter where Keiko interrogated Hazou, Hazou did honestly believe he didn't want to tell Keiko about the date until after her match. That holds true even if Hazou's working with Keiko on match strategy, and I don't really feel like the keeping-it-secret is much worse by interacting with her.

Plus, Keiko would most likely seek us out for tournament strategy advice because she has no reason to expect us to not help her, and refusing would just be suspicious.

Oh no! Somebody might think of putting burning fuel in a storage scroll paired to an explosive tag!

We are so far past invoices. It's time to demand reciprocal library access.

Just have Keiko remind Shikamaru that they will be married soon and that they will be living together. Something that would be easier if Shikamaru forfeited the match.

And a real suggestion: her Pangolins have seen ISC's techniques during the fifth event, ask them.

Prepare for storage seal shenanigans and make up your own bloodline to counter wood release.

Like a storage seal that unseals a life sized Nara Yoshino with a permanent disappointed frown.
