@huhYeahGoodPoint I think it's a really bad idea to rush the Ami meeting with a 2-3 sentence plan for it. We need something much, much better and more detailed if we're to get anything useful out of her.

I think you're absolutely correct that Keiko will be unhappy about Hazou having met Ami without informing her. I do think your analogies aren't very well chosen here, though.

You describe their relationship as "estranged" and Hazou as attempting to "meddle" in it, but that normally applies to situations where both sides are somehow aggrieved and can't seem to work through their problems. That is not the case here. The relationship doesn't really even exist, because Ami unilaterally ended it. They're not nursing grudges against one another, with Hazou trying to play peacemaker. Keiko would love to have Ami back, she just doesn't think it's possible. It's not meddling because there's little to meddle in at the moment. Things can only really improve as a result of Hazou's actions.

To put it differently, I'm confident that if Keiko thought Hazou had a realistic chance of getting Ami to "forgive" her, she'd absolutely agree. I'm actually somewhat in favor of asking her, but there are convincing arguments against that as well. For example, if you look at Ami's actions objectively, the hypothesis of "she's faking it to protect Keiko" actually seems very plausible. It would be very difficult to convince Keiko of this though, and arguably cruel, as it'd just dash her hopes again if we fail.

Ultimately, I think it's fine if we take the shot. If it works, we can tell Keiko, and ask forgiveness, and if it doesn't, we hope she doesn't find out.

Someone eminently more qualified and entitled has decided that Keiko shouldn't know that Ami is faking it. -because it would be very bad for her.

In a funny way, losing to Keiko might count in our favor in Ami's eyes. As in, the fact that Hazou loses to her in front of the world's elites - a major blow to a young man's pride in the best of circumstances - and still proceeds to try and help Keiko by reconciling her with Ami afterwards. then that should be more proof that he truly cares about her.

-and thus all the more reason why she would need to distance herself from and avoid associating with Hazou.

Why are you concerned about t his as a problem if your estimation of Ami avoids contact with Hazou?

If you really want to put on a show with Keiko, we know that Hazou has a grasp of Yagura's writings and philosophy which even Ami would find impressive. Finding unconventional ways to tie that realpolitik wisdom into uplift or even corollaries with the Will of Fire would be appropriate in the context of a Mist-nin turned Leaf-nin advocating uplift.
Is there a canon citation for this? The source that immediately springs to mind is a Keiko nightmare interlude.

They are also not allowed on stage. :p
I am sufficiently paranoid about the Hyuga and Mist's cheating bullshit that I'm not sure this is a good idea.

I think the most we can get away with is maybe sneaking some chakra water in in the semifinals.

I dont think Hazou has some sort of masterful grasp on it, but its implied that My Vision was required reading for all Mist ninja (or perhaps in the academy) when Keiko references it to the other two in Ch 168ish paired with "If you recall,..."

I recall Hazou shooting the breeze with Shikamaru about some history/philosophy regarding the Will of Fire a while ago though around the time of the Killbox Incident.

I'm pretty sure we can make an analogy between Keiko's pangolin and the Aburame or Inuzuka's companions.

Also, uh, we can make the case that they were allowed to be used as such in the previous round against her brother and therefore any rulings against it are either a result of insufficient preparedness on the tournament sponsors' part (Mist) or motivated judgement. As well, Mist doesn't want Hiashi's daughter to win. Nobody wants him in a position of power.

Jiraiya told us flat out that if we tried cheating like that (and were caught) it would almost certainly be our downfall.

I know it's actually unlikely but considering we are memeing Ami's competence anyway, I really want to see Ami invite Hazou for a private talk into a room that looks like the killbox room. You know, just in case subtletly is lost on him.

Dinner for two Chez Kîllbóx.

HIASHI: The plan is restored!

Is your theory also that the only reason Hiashi is so annoyed is because with Naruto gone Hinata has no one to marry? And once Naruto returns Hiashi will return to his normal, mellow self whose hobbies involve peeping, brushing his hair and eye drops?

[X] Action Plan: Hazou's Busy Day To The Power Of Minus One

@Noumero I suggest cutting the Ryugamine part and using the word count to provide some context for the Oyabun meeting. We're unlikely to get the former as a proper scene, and the latter is just kinda out of left field and it's not clear what Hazou wants out of the interaction.

Plus we can just ask Ami.

There's another way either we or Keiko could fight Hinata:

Create a Barrier to separate zones out, made of explosives pre-set, as well as under substitution targets. That way, it takes her a Standard action to close in on Kei, giving her the chance to respond, or allowing us to do any number of things.

Better to make Barriers out of storage seal logs/boulders.
