But it also doesn't mean that we shouldn't. If nothing else, it would really throw people for a loop if they tracked our underground movement, and saw our clones running above ground. And then got combination banshee'd/firelog'd.
And after those people got KO'd, the people who were too far to reach our position will show up. And promptly fight us.

We could hide underground, leaving clones with instructions to remove the 5SB, set off exploding tags to demolish the fort, and then make a mad dash for the exit. And set off banshee/firelogs if attacked.

Then we just quietly sneak away while the chaos unfolds.

You want our dumb clones to use the very lethal and large radius firelogs when attacked, in an exam which disqualifies us if we kill anyone.

Why? :( What's with this collective urge to explode things suddenly?

I don't expect it to actually kill anyone. That would require our clones (which have 1/3 our skills) severely beating the enemy candidates in an attack check. I expect it to fill a couple of stress boxes at absolute most. E: and more realistically, to distract them for a single round while they dodge.

I do not see how this would result in us escaping and/or winning a fight.

Aren't clones super expensive anyway? If we made enough to do that, we wouldn't have enough to fight if we needed to.

e: Anyway, we should just come up with a set of options to present, and which one we favor.

On which note: Is there any guarantee that the proctors actually accept our seals? I mean, according to the exact wording they fit, but that's not exactly a guarantee depending on how much of a jerk they feel like being.

The rules doc doesn't have the stats for firelogs. Based on the fluff description of the effect, I'd expect them to have a range of at least 1 (they affect adjacent zones) and a weapon rating of at least 4 (the default for explosives). Sure, people in the blast radius might survive by taking severe consequences if they roll poorly, which I think would result in being covered in third degree burns. That's not really much of an improvement on just killing them.

And, putting mechanics aside, this the kind of explosive we initially wanted to do high altitude bombing with against an S-rank ninja. Assuming we can just throw it at people and be confident in them surviving because of how combat damage rules work seems... irresponsible.

Really? Oh frick that then.
Yeah, if we left it up to Noburi it would take 20 * 3 (wakahisa inefficiency) * 12 chakra for 720 chakra total. Anyone else it'd be 240, but that's still pretty excessive.

Radvic (their creator among us) said that they're relatively safe to use, and I'm inclined to believe him. He's philosophically opposed to lying.

What they are is highly intimidating, though.

[x] Action Plan smash face

Our enemies want to commit suicide lets oblige them

  • Make sure Kei and Shikamaru approve everything
  • If Kei and shikamaru approve summon more pangolins for assault
  • Have Neji scout with Panache to find out how the ambush is laid out
    • If out numbered by a greater than 5/2 ratio abandon attacking and try to escape while riding pangolins
    • Throw fire log macerators and banshees to cover escape
  • Attack as soon as Neji reports back
    • Have Hazou make party trick seals until it is go time
  • Buff up and attack
    • Make sure everyone has banshee slayers
    • Equip TenTen with explosives
  • If Kei and Shikamaru approve summoning more pangolins don't try for suprise
  • If Kei and Shikamaru don't approve of summoning more pangolins try to sneak through underground
    • This avoids traps and has potential to surprise our enemies
  • Use burning log macerators and banshees to full effect.
    • Note burning log macerators are only to be used non leathly as area denial weapons.
    • Also require Kei and Shikamaru approval
      • Try to make sure enemies can't coordinate with both seals
  • After defeating enemies drain them of all chakra to replenish the team
  • steal any seals they have

Well since we might want to get more seals for safety anyone hav thoughts on the more aggressive plan?

I gotta ask, what were the arguments in favor of just letting the Ctuhulian Interrupts happen?

I'm not sure this makes things much better, unfortunately. If we use something that appears to be incredibly lethal, we'll be seen as reckless and lucky not have actually killed anyone. It'd definitely be brought up at the end when deciding promotions, and I can't imagine Jiraiya being happy about it.

Oh well, I've said everything I had to say on this point. Thankfully Keiko should veto this idea hard when we run it by her, should a plan containing it win.

That is not comforting, and I note that Hazou/Kagome experimented with firelog macerators with the intent of making it more lethal.

Also @OliWhail @Velorien @eaglejarl Is there enough greenery around for a good burn to cover our backs when we escape?
No. You chose an area with long sight lines specifically for defense.

@eaglejarl When does voting close? It doesn't say at the end of the update as it usually would.
9am Eastern tomorrow. Unless stated otherwise, that's always my vote-close. Or, rather, it won't close before then -- if I oversleep or am not near my computer then it closes whenever I run the tally.
