Should have time to throw my hat in the ring later today, for now

[X] Interlude while we build the perfect weapons development plan

It seems this is our first unambiguously positive event in a long long while based on impression* memory? That's pretty nice to have.

* Not to be confused with actual events and their history, only the impression thereof.

Can't speak much how you interpret the story, but winning the election and destroying the Dragons with almost 0 casualties (compared to how badly it could have gone) come to mind in terms of 'recent massive victories for the players' side'.

What do you guys think about us voting in using Hazou's time to figure out how to build sealing chains?
We believe you have the tools to develop sealing chains on your own. For instance, Kagome's target rift seal does the following:

"Attaches to the rift, opens the rift up infinitesimally using a large flow of chakra, then pushes a sensory construct through the rift to collect readings on the rift's properties from the other side."

Instead of researching this seal directly, he split it up into steps:
  1. Rift Seal 0: Attaches to the rift.
  2. RS1: Attaches to the rift and opens the rift up infinitesimally using a large flow of chakra.
  3. RS2: The target seal described above.
Similarly, if you have a target seal with multiple distinct capabilities, and you'd rather work on multiple lower-TN projects rather than one higher-TN one, you should feel free to break it down into a chain.

We've seen Hazou be pretty fine grained in his progress estimates before eg. "a tenth", "a fifth" etc.

So if he had to estimate the amount remaining on this project would he say it's closer to 80% or 90% complete? Or something else.
Both 80% and 90% seem pretty plausible to him... so probably somewhere in the middle?

[X] Kagome It's Time to Cook Research

  • Begin studying TH with the TS

We should probably inform and talk about this with Cannai, I doubt he is going to disagree, considering that Hazou can't really learn TH from anyone else at the moment and that they are good teachers.

But it's still the polite thing to do. We talked with him about going missing-nin under orders. Now it's different.

He might simply agree if we share what we learn with the Sages afterwards with Dog:
"I'd be glad to show you the material, if you'd like. It's an entire new paradigm of chakra manipulation."

"Hm," Fukasaku said, pretending at disinterest and failing.
Fukasaku sighed, long and drawn out. "I do want to see this 'new paradigm'"—he made air quotes around the words and his voice became mocking—"but training them is just such a bother!"

Sure that sounds like a good idea! Thanks for pointing it out. I'll update the Cannai section accordingly.

I don't think we need to bribe him with Minatoseals though. He should be cool about it, it's not like we were going to do anything but inconvenience him.

Those were more a matter of damage control. "Hurray, we're almost back up to where we were before things started going horribly wrong, and permanent scarring was limited to spots we didn't care about too much in the first place" can be a massive victory without feeling like a truly unambiguous positive.

True.

So about that Raccoon summoning scroll? Kumokogo and Kanga surely give us all the info, right? And Hatchlings

[X] Kagome It's Time to Cook Research
Word Count: 299
  • Sealing Research - primarily on the Seventh Path, return for infusions only
    • 1st SSA track - RRBs, max prep, double invoke, ask Kagome for help
    • 2nd SSA track - Fast Forward Runes, full prep
      • Finish Substitution seals while waiting for this track to synchronize with the first
    • 3rd track finish Force Walls, max prep, invoke if Hazou thinks it's necessary to finish this cycle, infuse on day 7.
    • Do prep days on the following seals/runes if there's additional time on some tracks
  • Meet with Cannai
    • Inform him about the changing circumstances of our mission, Naruto has ordered us to leave Leaf for a time to build Akatsuki-killing weapons.
    • The Toad Sages have agreed to teach us Technique Hacking. So we'll primarily be based out of Toad for the next couple months.
    • Ask him about nature chakra. Is what Orochimaru told us about chakra filtering and environmental chakra broadly accurate?
    • Has he ever heard of a human being able to filter nature chakra and not immediately die?
      • Jiraiya warned us of it back at the chunin exams, and the Toad Sages have let slip that the process usually involves turning into rock of some sort?
      • Yet according to Orochimaru, the Toad Sages can teach a human how to filter nature chakra, and combine it with human chakra into biphasic chakra.
      • Do the Dogs have any knowledge of this?
    • Has he ever heard of anything able to affect how much potential energy is in chakra?
      • It seems like Hazou might be able to set up a field where other humans are helpless but his Summons could fight unimpeded.
  • Misc.
    • Begin studying TH with the TS
    • Ask Kei to come up with a plan for introducing the gold to Leaf's economy
      • Should we revalue the currency? How can we benefit the economy overall
    • Ask Mari to go quietly buying up mines (iron, silver, copper, tin etc.) with the wealth from the gold mine
      • Prioritize iron mines if you can but secrecy is more important
Okay first round of edits completed. Major edits in bold. Will need to do WC trimming later. Might cut the Mari/Kei parts too since apparently (according to EJ on Discord) Kei is the source of the bad smell and we need to act on that. So let me know if that part is important to you

@acidshill plan now specifies to stay on the Seventh Path primarily.

@ContextBot plan now has additional Cannai bullet points.

@_The_Bomb I changed the wording of the TH w/ TS bullet.

To everyone else, there seems to be some disagreement as to whether to keep 3 research tracks or go down to 2.

Like this post if you want to keep it at 3, hug it if you want to go down to 2 (cutting Force Walls)

If we buy one more FP (bringing us up to a total of 6), I'm okay with keeping it at three.
ROTP suggests we buy another FP. I am seriously considering it, let me know if you object

Note, if you aren't voting for my plan I'm going to weight your vote less. This is only fair to my voters.

PSA: Minor retcon, chapter updated.

The paragraph in the end note talking about the smell that was on you has been updated to this:

"The plan called to have Canvass sniff you over as you left the city, to make sure no trackers were on you. She smelled something weird on Kei that freaked her out, although she couldn't precisely identify it. It was on Hazō and Kagome as well, but probably as a secondary contact, she thought. (i.e. it got on Kei and then you interacted with her enough to get some of it on you.) All three of you scrubbed until it was gone."

Turns out, hey, who knew, Kei was with you. Doh.

Query: Did Canvass give an idea of why it freaked her out?

@Velorien @Paperclipped

Did Kei throw away her clothes/bathe etc. to get rid of the smell? Was the smell on her clothes primarily, or her body?

Did we have Canvass recheck her to be sure she was no longer smelling like that
?

I fail at reading comprehension.

Anyway did Canvass have any idea what it smelled like? Was it Kei's clothes or Kei's body that was the main culprit.
